I'm not putting much weight into this either since it's nothing we haven't heard already over the years.

You know, Giselle wanting not to grow older could also be her not wanting to become sickly, and even die. That's not vain. She could be afraid of dying like Peter Pan in Hook. A movie that explored that would be interesting.

This needs to hurry up and be 100% announced or officially canceled...the back and forth is killing off my soul over here !

You truly have hit the nail on its head. Couldn’t agree more.

Menken says the sequel is coming along.
Q: Are you having fun doing so much revisiting? Are you eager to get some time to work on new original projects?
Alan Menken: Yes, yes—I’m answering the second question. I’m eager to go new, and I have new, here and there. BUT, I’m also blessed that people keep wanting to go back to the old. [...] It’s Mermaid coming, it’s Disenchanted which is coming along.

I have some faith in the coming of this project if Menken claims it is still in the works. Honestly, at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up making a sequel with an entirely new cast and an essentially rebooted story.

Yeah, I could see a new cast, maybe with some cameos thrown in.
This is Not what I want though. No one would have the same touch amy adams had.

What's the point of a sequel now? What can they make fun of? I just don't see Disney making fun of the Revival considering how they hold it up as a pedestal of pretentious filmmaking. What, will the sequel make fun of the Renaissance then?

They did not just make fun of the Walt films, they paid homage to them, as they also did to the Renaissance. They can easily do any of the films they already did but different parts. And since when does Disney think the revival is so good? Only Frozen made Walt Era or Renaissance money. That is the only Revival film they put on a so-called pedestal.

I might be alone on this, but I'm not too against the idea of a reboot if that's what it comes down to.
I definitely think Amy Adams served well for the archetype she was playing (i.e., a Snow White princess who becomes more grounded in the real world.)
But there are other character types a live-action actor can focus on.
Maybe instead of peasant Giselle it's a villain who got banished and is trying to reform themselves. Maybe instead of NYC, he gets banished to San Francisco or London. Maybe the "bad guy" wasn't bad at all, and the "hero" was actually the twist villain that just decided one day they were evil.
There are a lot of possibilities if they want to expand the universe so to speak.
Course it'd be better to have the original cast but if it keeps getting delayed they may need to get creative.

I'm extremely against a sequel with different actors that's a remake in disguise like Mary Poppins Returns. I'd much rather have them do a pure remake or a spin-off if it comes to that.

Maybe they'll center the sequel on Morgan? At the pace this is going, the actress/character will be the right age (or aged up a bit, early to mid-20s) for a protagonist of a modern fairytale.

It's not my first choice, but I'd be OK with a spin-off centered on Giselle's stepdaughter as long as there's no recasting or retcons.

Shankman says he's still striving to get it made. I'll say this for him. He's persistent.

Enchanted 2: Alan Menken gives brief update
https://www.denofgeek.com/uk/movies/enc ... ief-update
”Yes, we’re doing Enchanted 2,” he confirmed to me. Not that there’s too much progress yet.
“We’ve had meetings,” he added. “Five films I have right now that are waiting for a greenlight. They’re all standing at the light right now, and at some point they’re going to go ‘greenlight’!” Menken added that he wouldn’t be surprised if they all got the nod at once, thus taking over his professional life for the foreseeable future.

Glad we've got another "update" although I feel this isn't very different from what we heard a year ago. At least it hasn't been officially cancelled, especially after Mary Poppins Returns underperformed.

@Sotiris: Any idea what Menken's five films could be? The live-action TLM + live-action Hunchback + Disenchanted. What else?
