PLEASE tell me this is a different and quasi-related featurette from the earlier R2 one titled "The Aristcrats of Disney Cats". Otherwise I'd be rather disappointed that 2.5 miniutes was cut from it!
I wonder what the excerpt is from Disneyland's "The Great Cat Family" (September 19, 1956). I never saw the episode, but according to Hal Erickson it's about how some people like cats and some don't, with a history of cats and their superstition tie-ins.

According to the "next week on Disneyland" promo, it has clips from Cinderella (Lucifer), The African Lion, and Lambert the Sheepish Lion. Can't remember what else. There was some original animation as well. I hope they've decided to include that portion of the show. I
was hoping for the complete episode.

I feel sorry for you guys across the pond. Hopefully this will not happen in North America, but it still could, so there is reason to run around in circles, scream and panic.

No need to do so.

Here in Europe we get region free DVD Players and PAL/NTSC compatible TVs - so should the US get a superior DVD release, all we need to do is import. Ha!

The revised cover art looks a little better, I'm glad they got rid of O'Malley's lazy eye. It's nice that you guys have a release date, there is still no update on the website in the US so I'm still not sure when we'll get ours. Hopefully we'll be hearing something soon.

HMV usually just list it as 1-disc until it's closer to time though,
101 Dalmatians is proof unless we're getting that as a 1-disc too which I doubt

I hope Disney does a really good job on this DVD release of The Aristocats, if not I give up on Disney altogether and there incompotance to release a really well made DVD, and that they are too lazy and look in to their Archives and Vaults.

Now we have a date for region 1 (yay!), February 5th. I checked Amazon and there is still no info about whether or not it's one or two discs. I guess it'll be a last minute thing.

The initial entry would say 2 pc or 2-Disc somewhere if it was. I think we can safely say it'll be a single-disc.

I'm really dissapointed in Disney. I really wish that would actually mean something to the company.

It's not really surprising that this Aristocats DVD will be a single disc. It is very disappointing when Disney advertises something (a 2-disc special edition) and then doesn't follow, but I'm still surprised that this film was ever even considered for 2-disc treatment.

it's not surprising. A 2-Disc set could sell more Marie merchandise. Since her Direct to Video sequel was scrapped.

To me, this movie/dvd deserves a 2 disc. It's one of my favorites.

It's too bad, I was REALLY wanting this to be a 2-Disc. Such BS that it isn't.

I'm not suprised that it went back to 1 disc. I was more surprised that it was originally going to be a 2disc. The film isnt popular enough for a 2 disc release I guess.
I'm rather dissappointed in the backstage stuff though. Given the film's significance as being the first film made after Walt's death THIS NEEDS A DOCUMENTARY. If The Fox and the Hound gets one, The Aristocats should get one too. Otherwise this will be a veeeeeery dissappointing "Special Edition".

Well, technically, every Disney film deserves a 2-disc treatment, because there are always fans of that particular movie. Too bad it doesn't happen with most of them.

It's really weird how some movies or characters will become more popular in different regions of the world. The Aristocats isn't very popular here in the United States (or at least, I don't think it is) and there is very little merchandise in Disney stores to support this film. Although, I have been seeing more and more stuff over the last year since it has been announced that it would be getting a special edition dvd. I have seen a lot more Marie stuff.
