Thank you, Tannerman, for that link. I'm happy that Disney understands the importance of replacing these discs, and I'm very satisfied with the service they've provided thus far. I'm looking forward to receiving the new discs soon.

I just called for my return envelope today. While on the phone, I made a point to ask for "Mr. Boogedy", "Bride of Boogedy", and "Child of Glass" on DVD. The Disney rep was very kind. She also said that she had not heard of any future release for Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow. She said that she only hears about them three or four months in advance of release of catalog titles.......

Have the Legacy discs been discontinued? Vol 1 doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

The DMC has all the Legacy discs, as well as the WDT volumes, at a very reasonable price.

Finally got all of these. Picked up Volume 4 at Best Buy yesterday (I think Best Buy still has all 4 of them). I just called for my replacement disc too (yes, I checked it out first, and it was an incorrect one). So, I'm waiting for the envelope. Now, I just need to get the Oswald Treasures set..... and Gargoyles vol. 2 part 1.... and various direct to video releases.... and Home on the Range.... plus Nightmare Before Christmas, Meet the Robinsons, Valiant, The Wild, and a lot of live-action stuff...

For some reason I got Legacy 2, 3 and 4 when they were first out, but not number 1. I was always planning to get it "eventually", but just a few weeks ago I discovered that they were no longer available just anywhere, so I thought I should look it up the sooner the better. I was able to get it from amazon.ca, but I guess they're running out now...

I got all of them pretty late. Got them gradually over the past several many months. I might go and get Oswald tonight so I can be caught up with the Treasures Collection too, though not sure since I'm torn between that and a few other things I need to get right now.

I've always been interested in the True-Life Adventures, but still haven't picked up any of the Legacy sets because of the dead animal issue.

Are any of the 4 sets completely free of dead animals? If one or more of the sets, in every film and bonus feature, doesn't show any death or hurt animals, then I'll probably get that set/those sets.

Thanks!

I'm sure that each set has some depiction of a dead animal. Death is a naturally occurence in nature and it's inevitable to not see it. But on the plus side, you see the birth of a buffalo!

No, they are evergreen(continously available) titles. According to an interview I saw(could have been here) they continue to sell fairly solidly.

Three of the four are available on Amazon for 22.99. In my opinion a great bargain at that price. Enjoyed the whole series from start to finish immensely. Really a double treasure that year

Aww, a baby buffalo! How cute! I guess I'll have to pass on the True-Life Adventures, then...I know that I'm weird... :(

Well, to us fans in the age of the internet it's really quite sufficient that they're released somewhere in the world, right? 8)

Replacement program?

Please clarify - did Disney offer replacement discs for TLA Vol. 1 & 4 due to the color and aspect issues?

Thank you!

Yes, I got mine with a simple phone call. The cast member who answered the phone was very aware of the issue and how to handle it. They sent prepaid envelopes for me to return the incorrect discs, and then they promptly sent replacements.

Thank you!

Thanks for the clarification. I had spoken to a customer service rep this morning but she didn't seem to be familiar with the problems and said I needed to get my dvd player checked. I called back after reading your post and this rep was very helpful and said she'd send out an envelope for me to return the defective discs and then replacements would be sent out.

Are Volumes 1 & 4 officially OOP? Amazon.com has only 2 & 3 available to purchase new, and Deep Discount also only has 2 & 3 available.

Also, I know I asked this a while back, and I can't find any info online, really...I know that David already said that it's very likely that all the volumes show dead animals in some parts, but especially with Earth coming out, my interest in the True-Life Adventures has picked up again, and I'd love to be able to watch at least one of them! (And going back through this thread, apparently the DVD of The Resucers has a TLA on it, so maybe I should watch that (as long as there are no dead animals on it... )

Roy Disney says (in this interview: http://www.dvdtalk.com/interviews/roy_disney_on_t.html ):
Oh, absolutely. You could not escape the notion that these animals were fighting to live. We would cut away from the blood. There was some pretty gory stuff, but who needs that? You know it's there; you don't have to push people's noses in it.
So they always cut away from the blood, but not the dead bodies laying there?

I think I can handle bears eating fish, but anything else might be too much.

I think I just found a website (DVDTalk's reviews) that details which volumes contain things I might not want to see:

Volume 1:
White Wilderness
musk oxen versus a wolf, an attack on an osprey nest by a wolverine
Water Birds
powerful gannets who dive-bomb for herrings
Beaver Valley
an incredible mid-air mouse transfer between two hawks
Prowlers of the Everglades
footage of alligators and otters at work and play [this doesn't mention violence, but what does "at work" mean?]

Volume 2:
The Living Desert
wild boars versus a bobcat, desert wasp battle against a tarantula
Islands of the Sea
battle between the Red Rock crab and the oyster catcher

Volume 3:
The African Lion
a leopard attack on a wildebeest, a lioness chasing an impala [but it doesn't mention her killing the impala...?]
Jungle Cat
some amazing combat footage between a jaguar and a pirarucu, a battle royale between a jaguar and a massive boa constrictor
Bear Country
a run-in between a pocket gopher and a hungry crow, some truly impressive combat between two angry bears

Volume 4:
Secrets of Life
close-up photography of the insect battles [as long as its not too gruesome, maybe I could handle this...?]
[Does Perri have any dead animals in it? I know that it's a True-Life Fantasy, so I'd think not...?]

So, it's possible that I could buy Volume 4, and it has Perri, which I'd like to see!

So, if anyone could confirm that Volume 4 has nothing more violent than insect battles (and if you could let me know just how gruesome the insect battles are), then that'd be great!!! :)
