Im getting a Nightmare Before Christams vibe, lots of very detailed busy backgrounds, props & characters, but the designs are very mixed. The human girls in the museum in the beginning looked terrible! I liked the land of the dead(or whatever they call it there) but I think it would have been a far more effective transformation for the main character if he had been human to begin with & not some wooden made being. Its different though so Ill see it, but it will probably be a rental for me.

Okay, so now I feel slightly guilty for hijacking this thread. If anyone wants to continue discussing "The Book of Life", I have made a thread for it in the Movies, Music & TV sub forum. Enjoy.

That looks awful I know people were looking forward to it and it DOES have an interesting concept and art style (though I do hate the Bratz look), but I wouldn't put much faith in that studio yet considering what they've put out so far...

Hopefully it bombs and Pixar follows through with a decent Dia de los Muertos film.

The movie is what, 7 months old ? We are running out of things to talk about and discuss. Yes the women in the family look alike, but we all saw the movie more than once, and brought the DVD/ Bluray so I don't think it mattered, not in Disney's eyes anyways, because they are swimming in money right now.

Yeah I don't get it either. Tumblr's "reasoning" for still bitching about this movie is "if it's popular it needs to be criticized!" Well, yeah, it's good to point out flaws in any "important" aspect of media...But they're going the same topics all the time: animation this, Elsa and Anna look way too similar, blah blah blah...And never do they get to a proper conclusion.

Let's go and talk about other Disney movies, please. This is starting to get boring.

Tumblr has been complaining about Frozen since this time last year; remember the whole this movie is racist because there's no dark-skinned characters and Kristoff is a Sami so he shouldn't be a skinny ass white boy ?

Jan- March 2013- Omg Elsa and Anna look so crappy. tANGLED ON ICE LOL !

Apr- May 2013- Omg what a crappy trailer; they just showed us lame comic relief; Disney has lost the plot. Oh wow the Japanese trailer is actually better ! But not good enough !

It makes me laugh how people speak of Tumblr like it's the home of professional films critics.... it's a social media at the end of the day... really no different to twitter/devianArt ... these are just the opinions of ordinary people lmfao

Plus %98 of anything Frozen I've seen on Tumblr (I barely follow Disney blogs) love Frozen. One guy on my dash has brought up the shortcomings on the film and I agree with the points he made. Tumblr is pretty great if you follow the right people, just like Twitter and other social media websites.

Well my reasoning is "if it's CGI and it's from Disney, it needs to be criticized".

Some of tumblr's criticisms are convoluted, but I don't think it's fair to discredit any one who voices what they see as a flaw.

Is it wrong that some people don't like how the Queen + her daughters look alike? I don't think so, because while some people look EXACTLY like their parents, others do not.

Personally, I think CG is advanced enough to have given the Queen crow eyes, or Elsa dark circles, or something. But I probably gotta let it go, my artistic snobbery.

TBH, Frozen is getting gradually annoying to talk about nowadays.

Frozen works more wonders. The less Aurora in the world, the better.

Okay, I know the girl that posted that nonsense. She is being extremely dramatic because she's friends with Aurora. The Elsa/Anna room thing is only in testing right now. (And I don't think it will last, as it's not going to make that much of a difference.) PLUS, they are getting their own location back at Epcot again before the year is out. (But this time better thought out so the lines won't be as big an issue.) So even if Aurora gets booted, its temporary. Same with Snow. (She is currently meeting in Town Square. Aurora will probably end up there too.)

Frozen has done WONDERS for Disney. This is what Little Mermaid did to help what was a dying company. People need to sit down and realize that, regardless of their own personal biases...
