when you highlight the play button, press up and you should see a red dot in the timeline. basically the same as watching a video in your browser.

Now, Virtual Vault, while I applaud the idea-Disney's been good about keeping BD-Live stuff up past the expiration date-it sucks in practice. I get the buffering part, as any streaming video does that-and stops too-and this case is surprisingly infrequent but the absence of fullscreen is prepostrous(?).

They get 1/2 a point out of 10 overall. the intro was nice, and im partial to the color scheme of the layout.

The encoding of the features on disc is baffling, as it suggests this was a last-minute decision, but presentation says otherwise. Maybe it was planned to debut with another release(Bambi?) and was rushed for this one. Or the main menu is connected to BD-Live so they could link the bonuses when the vault closes.

Disney really dropped the ball on the bonus features. What gets me is that this was the chance to really push out the best release possible for this significant film, and yet in comparison to Beauty and The Beast, Fantasia seems rushed.

There was no excuse for it. These films are only release every 8/10 years, and the Diamond Edition trailer was released months before the eventual product came out. Hopefully by 2020 they'll have learnt their lesson!

Do you have the Blu-ray release of "Fantasia/Fantasia 2000"?

Your Blu-ray version of the film, if you are connected to the internet gives multiple hours of viewing extras, some that I think are even better than have been on any releases before this.

If you only have the DVD version, I am sorry. That's one of the reasons that I got Blu-ray and got it with Wi-Fi so I could use the BD Live for all of the things that it presents to you.

Sometimes the only thing available on BD Live is more trailers, but there are a lot of movies out there that make use of the BD Live very well and Disney's 'Fantasia/Fantasia 2000" is one of those.

OK, from what I hear, not all the Fantasia Legacy extras are on disc. The documentaries are confirmed to be on disc and this makes sense, as they were some of the only videos to load instantly on Disney's Virtual Vault, while everything else had LONG buffer times (why else would a 40 minute video load instantly while a 30 second clip takes minutes?). My guess is anything that loaded instantly came from the disc and everything else was streamed. I just don't know what the hell they were thinking with this Virtual Vault, as they obviously didn't trust their servers with the longer videos and having to wait 5-10 minutes to access the Virtual Vault menu that just takes something off the disk is inconvenient, not to mention the lack of fullscreen.

Can anyone confirm this is what's happening?

not always the case. some clips loaded instantly for me. havent even *tried* the documentaries yet(already ordered a Legacy disc)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the documentaries for each film are presented on their respective discs from their last DVD incarnation. Don't get me wrong, the Legacy Disc has tons of bonus features, but if you're looking for the documentaries for both films, those are on their previous DVDs.

All the clips I've watched from the Virtual Vault have buffered. As soon as you select the 'Vault' from the main menu of the F2000 disc, its obvious that the little film-strip icon which lights up is the sign that the content is loading from B.D Live. If only company's like Disney would realise that not everyone has super-fast broadband. They're almost getting like Apple, who lamely enough won't put Blu-Ray drives in their Mac's because they think the future of film content is digital streaming/download!

I beleive this is a non-US release. I think the 2 movies were released seperately overseas. I don't know which country the symbols are from, but in the lower right corner you can see the age group approval marks that are different from the US. Plus, the film is marketed as a "Double Play," a term not used on the US releaeses.

Yes, hence the UK/Ireland ratings logos in the bottom left-hand corner. The UK is also getting Fantasia 2000 on its own later down the line (end of March, I believe). A lot of international territories are getting the two films separately. In much of Europe, in fact, I believe they're not even getting the two movie pack, and the UK anthology only contains the Blu-Ray editions.

I noticed the pre-order for Fantasia 2000 on Amazon, but what about a standard DVD release of Fantasia?? I can't play Blu-Ray, so I want the normal DVD editions!!

Well, for the record, Fantasia by itself has both the Blu-Ray and DVD edition bundled together, and is available in either DVD packaging or Blu-Ray packaging.

I expect that we'll find a similar set-up with Fantasia 2000 as well. It is rather annoying (aka a rip off) that the two-movie pack in the UK only contains the Blu-Ray editions, though.

Also, the art cards in that image are exclusive to HMV stores, so if you're interested in them, then go there.

At the same time, the 2 movie pack was very cheap. I only paid £17.99 online, so I'm not too fussed about the non-inclusion of a DVD.

Yes, but its a bit unfair for the people who dont have a blu ray player and want the two movie pack ! Does seem weird not to include a dvd in the pack .....

I havnt seen the movie in years, looking forward to getting this for my birthday next week !

Well, if they had done it as a 4 disc pack over here, I would have expected prices to be closer to £30, so you could equally say that it's unfair to charge more for those of us who have Blu Ray for the 2 movies and a pair of coasters.

No, I dont think it would be that much more. After all, combi packs are only a few pounds more than just the DVD alone.

I don't know, if it had been two extra discs, I could have seen more retailers using that as an excuse to raise the price by as much as £10. I think as it was done, it ended up being a very cheap release. Having said that, I'd have preferred that they had stuck to their original plan and had a third Fantasia World Blu Ray included too. I wouldn't have minded paying more for that.
