The word means crown for god's sake. Just because a beer also shares the name doesn't take anything away from what the word means. By this reasoning let's avoid saying anything about a Grey Goose, Blue Moon, Rolling Rock, or anyone referred to as "Captain".

I'm sorry but criticizing the film for this small thing is extremely petty. I'd rather have everyone picking on the title because that is something that actually matters.

It is petty, but honestly every time I hear mention of the name of kingdom (Which, by the way, I only just learned this fact), I'll think of the beer. They really could have come up with something better, honestly.

Wow...Kingdom Corona? I didn't realize there was Corona beer but that's probably because I don't drink alcohol because I have enough medical problems as it is...


And I knew Disney wanted to appeal more to the male demographic in audiences but I didn't realize it had gone this far


...as long as there is no endorsement with Disney's tangled on a Corona Beer Bottle I see nothing wrong... though I do think many people will think it's a gag....at least to the parents and other people who just see the film.

But do you think Flynn Rider might be in a super bowl comercial endorsing Corona Beer? either that or maybe that's the issue with disney and their releases latley.....they are having too much corona

This goes to everyone, but especially to these people, and possible spoilers.

Animalia, everyone knows about the flower by now, but anyway, I don't think you understood that lettuce is something pregnant women crave, it is called lamb's lettuce like Rapunzel is a lamb, and the lettuce has pretty flowers on it. That's why I said they could keep it lettuce but still have beautiful flowers, the flowers come with the lettuce. How can her name be Rapunzel if it's not from rapunzel, the plant?

As for why Gothel isn't a witch, no other person's fairy tale adaptation should ever change how you do your own, so saying she can't be a witch because of Into the Woods would be like saying then Cinderella shouldn't have been a servant because of Into the Woods! And actually, they could have made her an enchantress as that is another translation. I didn't understand why you said she may not be a witch because "two out of the three characters she is based on have magical powers". What did you mean by any of that?

Mawnck, if you read what I said, does that mean there are actual, good, movie-enchancing reasons for why they made the changes and they don't have what I think they should still have?

Super Aurora, you are supposed to highlight everything that is in white, and it turns the words blue, so that shouldn't be hard to read.

Freaky screaming radishes? What? As for Rapunzel getting her name, well, that really is the name of the lettuce, where as Snow White and Cinderella were completely made up names based on some things.

I do like Disney making their tales their own, I just wonder why they have made this many changes, I don't see why they have to, but maybe you are right, maybe it will all be for the best and I have to see.

The reason I'm against these changes is, well, I will explain why a little more down.

Wonderlicious, right, the origins of Cinderella's name were not mentioned, which is different from completely changing how it was (the book could have just not known how she got her name). Actually, Snow White's origins were kind of mentioned, they said her skin was white as snow, hair black as ebony, and lips red as the rose. This was changed from blood to a rose. So I see how this change to Rapunzel is in Disney tradition, however, I don't understand why they needed to change it, since they made it a flower that makes a tea to drink, while lettuce to eat does the same thing. I understand why blood is less kid-friendly than a rose, so I understand that change, but not why lettuce must be made a flower, especially when rapunzel lettuce already has pretty flowers.

Atlanticaunderthesea, yes I know and agree with a lot of that, but here's why I'm okay with the past Disney versions being the essential ones, but not this one:

First, you sighted the Grimm's version of the story for Cinderella. Those things you mentioned only happened in the Grimm's, not the Perrault one Disney based theirs on, though it does have a tiny bit of Grimm in it. More importantly, I see good reasons why the cut it down to one ball to make sense, and why they would cut out violent bloody toe-cutting.

I can also see good reason why they cut down the queen's multiple attempts to kill Snow White. That got repetitive, and Snow White would have seemed really dumb to boot.

The Little Mermaid actually did not die, her body did but she was able to get to Heaven if her spirit did good deeds. But anyway, that is religious, which may make some audience members not like it, and it's also sad, and I can see a good reason why Disney made a happy ending.

That Sleeping Beauty you mentioned is actually Sun, Moon, and Talia, not the Perrault Sleeping Beauty that Disney based their version on. And even if that wasn't the case, again I can see good reason why they would cut all that violent, sexually immoral, not kid-friendly stuff.

So I am fine with Disney making these stories better for children, and audiences who don't want the characters they care for to be cut, raped, sexually immoralized or miserable in the end. I like them thinking that Ariel lived happily ever after with her Prince, and that Snow White was only so naive once. Cinderella never changes her name back in the original stories, so it makes sense for that to be her name always, maybe because of her ash blonde hair or it sounded pretty.

What I am saying is I do not see the good reasons for why the changes to Rapunzel were made. Mother Gothel can still have what happens to her in the end happen if she was an old witch with a garden in the beginning. The flower that makes tea for the queen to drink could still be flower-bearing rapunzel lettuce the queen could eat.

And that's what will still be a problem unless someone tells me there really were good reasons for these changes.

Love the way Flynn moves... His expressions. Seems like one of Disney's most charismatic heros.

You see, I'm not really reading a lot about this movie, but I still didn't get the point: How can you call Rapunzel a princess? Are her parents royal? Because her partner is a thief...

That trailer has been around for a while now, they're nothing new. *Sigh* and here I was, hoping for new footage I hadn't seen yet.

Maybe it's because flowers are more marketable. I think it would be easier for them to sell a magical flower toy than one of a magical head of lettuce. Just my guess.

Thanks so much for posting that link to your blog, Marianne! I read everything that concerned Tangled, and I really appreciated all the details you gave about the panel. The scene where Flynn is forced to sing in the tavern sounds like it will be a lot of fun. And I really enjoyed reading your detailed description of the finished scene they showed, where Flynn meets Rapunzel for the first time. I'm glad to hear that it's not Shrek-like.

Good call, Margos He looks like Errol Flynn too! And I am sure they got the name Flynn from him as well, because they wanted his character to be the swashbuckling hero type like Errol Flynn proratyed in so many films. I stand by my comparisons too, so I think he may end up reminding us of many people.

Yeah, I had thought I heard that that's where the name came from. Then I saw Captain Blood and was like, "Hey, I see a resemblance." So then I looked at the pictures together, and I see that they have similar noses, eyebrows, and mouths, and their hair appears to be parted similarly.
