I am excited for this movie, it looks promising and much more true to the original classic compared to Maleficent. (That trainwreck of a movie let me down, and I am usually easy to satisfy and "love" most thing Disney. So happy that Linda Wolverton has nothing to do with the Cinderella movie.) The actress playing Cinderella looks like a good choice for Cinderella (Elle Fanning as Aurora was not a perfect fit).

I am going to reserve my excitement for it too, but I'm not entierly sure that it will be a "true to the original classic" kind of movie but it will still be a good movie nonetheless.

I meant that it has some of the character/plot elements of the original
Cinderella with some changes here for the new one which might not be a live-action version of the same animated film but the crux of it is still intact. Unlike
Maleficent where it's a different movie entirely which distances itself from
Sleeping Beauty but little elements of it still remain.

I take it that it will be a straight remake of the animated movie but with more depth, less animals, more human interactions, a major focus on relationships, and will answer many questions that the 1950 film either didn't answer or didn't expand on, such as what was Cinderella's childhood like? What was it like when she met her stepfamily? What killed her father? How did Cinderella become a servant? What was the prince's background? and etc.

Oh, that's a good point. I would rather want an extended version of
Cinderella, but I don't want the animals taking over the entire film like the animated one; that would make the movie's existance rather pointless if they did that.

That's okay.

At least we can agree on this movie unlike
Maleficent where you and I are on opposite ends with.

I'm sure there will be mice and Lucifer, but they won't talk at all. In fact, I predict Lucifer would just be a pet Lady Tremaine brings to the home, while the mice would just be rodents that Cinderella rescues from traps and lets them roam free in the manor, but that will be it. I think the animals will be kept at a minimum. Now, I could be wrong, but I think this is how it will be. I doubt we would be seeing mice trying to get a key from Lady Tremaine's pocket in order to rescue Cinderella from the locked garret or sewing a dress for her.

From all I've read, this film will be the Disney animated film expanded on, with the animals, in clothes, but more focused on the humans, their relationships, Cinderella believing in herself, and with some twists and changes. And amazing costumes.

I can't wait to see those costumes, especially Cinderella's ball dress!
Old Fish Tale wrote:I think they'll eventually replace it. Something tells me they want to keep the ball dress secret for a while.
I agree with everything in your post.
tsom wrote:I believe so too. From what I've read by people who have seen a screening of the film, the costumes are magnificent, especially her ballgown. I already love the blue dress she's wearing in the picture with the horse. I cannot wait to find out what scene it's from. I'm guessing it must be before she becomes a servant because she's still pretty clean.
I agree with everything in your post.

I agree. Even if they do get some prominent scenes, we certainly won't be seeing them behave human-like like in the animated movie. That sort of thing never goes over well with audiences in Live Action.

This is what the girl who attended the screening said about the scenes between Lucifer and the mice:
Q: Did the stepfamily really rip Cinderella's dress before the ball in the film? And were there scenes between Lucifer and the mice? If so, they seem like they really are sticking to the Disney film.
A: Yes they do rip it, though not as badly as in the animation, which I feel would've looked fake if they had, the amount done was properly believable. There was like two TINY bits between the mice and Lucifer, nothing like in the animation. I'll put it this way, in the animation, the mice with the supporting roles and everyone else like the step family and such were secondary character. In the live action, it's the other way around.

There’s actually going to be a looot of new Cinderella books for this movie! Some that even sound like they’re about the original animated 1950 one, to coincide with the live-action 2015 one! They’re treating it so special! I’m so happy! Here they are:
Walt Disney’s Cinderella (Re-issue) (Walt Disney’s Classic Fairytale) by Cynthia Rylant and Mary Blair (January 27, 2015). This will be a re-issue of the book that used Mary Blair’s concept art to illustrate the original animated 1950 one. I own the first one that came out, so I won't need to get this, but I think I need to get all the others!
Disney Princess Read-and-Sing: Cinderella: Purchase includes 3 Digital Songs! by Disney Book Group and Disney Storybook Team (January 27, 2015).
Cinderella Deluxe Illustrated Novel by Brittany Candau and Cory Godbey (January 27, 2015). I can’t tell if it will be about the new live-action 2015 film or the original animated 1950 film, but it sounds amazing!
Cinderella (World of Reading) by Disney Press (January 27, 2015). I also can’t tell if this is about the live-action 2015 film or the original animated 1950 film.
Cinderella (Live Action) Early Reader (World of Reading) by Disney Book Group (January 27, 2015)
Cinderella (Live Action) 8x8 Storybook by Disney Book Group (January 27, 2015)
Cinderella (Live Action) Junior Novel (Junior Novelization) by Elizabeth Rudnick (January 27, 2015).
A Wish Your Heart Makes: From the Grimm Brothers’ Aschenputtel to Disney’s Cinderella (Disney Editions Deluxe (Film)) by Charles Solomon (February 10, 2015).

If you buy the last four books, will you post some scans? I remember you did that with the ones for 'Cinderella: A Twist in Time'...

I think I could do scans! The only things are if the books are able to be scanned and not damage them, and I may not want to look at and scan the last few pages so as not to ruin the ending for myself, till after I see the movie, just like I didn't look at or scan the last pages of the books for Cinderella III till after I saw the movie.

This is a little off topic but yesterday I went to my local bookstore and they had the Sleeping Beauty book by Charles Solomon. I didn't buy it (the price was higher than ordering it online) but I briefly went through it.
It's actually a really pretty book. Size-wise you could compare it to the 'art of' books. It has a lof of full colour pictures and it's divided in three parts, one for the original fairytale and it's origins, one for the animated movie and one for Maleficent. The last two parts have a lot of concept art and stills, while the first part also uses some paintings and photos.
So while I'm not a big Sleeping Beauty fan, I think I might order it online. If the Cinderella one is like this, I'm almost certain I'm going to buy that one though!
They also had a book by Charles Solomon about the little golden books (I believe that's what they're called?) and that one was also pretty cool. It was also a pretty recent release I think, because Frozen was also included.

Helena discusses her dress.
Sir Kenneth Branagh left his first wife, Emma Thompson, after falling in love with Helena Bonham Carter despite her famously eccentric fashion sense.
Now, Bonham Carter says her reunion with Branagh in the Cinderella film he is directing for Disney is proving a painful experience — because of the size and outlandish design of her costume.
‘It’s the biggest I’ve ever worn, and the most extraordinary thing is that it lights up,’ says the 47-year-old actress, who plays the Fairy Godmother.
‘LED lights are sewn into the dress, which has a battery pack that weighs 15lb. It’s so heavy, I’m a walking disaster wearing it.’
Her six-year-old daughter, Nell, was unimpressed.
‘You’d think she would like me playing a fairy godmother, but she is less of a girly girl,’ Helena tells me at the opening of High’s flagship store in Mayfair, where she sported a typically daft headband adorned with roses to accessorise an unusually demure black dress
Bonham Carter, who also has a ten-year-old son, Billy, with American film director Tim Burton, adds of Nell: ‘She is a tomboy. I’m the opposite. I always wear dresses.’
