Yes, it's still missing. It's the sped-up, RKO title-length blue castle (rather than the new CG one).

None! After the opening Disney Blu-ray title, it goes straight to the main menu and I couldn't see any Sneak Peek option.
Could it be possible that Disney has lost the RKO title card for Bambi?

If you purchased Bambi and Alice in Wonderland on Blu-ray together you get a free 3D Card. Does anyone know what this 3D card looks like?

That review says that a Bambi 2 Blu-ray advertisement is included in the Sneek Peeks!

I've never understood this fascination with sneak peeks! Not only are they simply advertising, but they grow old fast (look at some of the re-released discs that have been released on DVD with old sneak peeks).

I don't really object to them, and I certainly don't miss them on the UK Bambi release. But they would be better as menu items only, not pre-viewing trailers.

Interesting note on the review: the reviewer claims the DTS HD is just a high-res track rather than the lossless tracks that are always found on blu-rays. audiophiles are gonna be pissed if it's true

All true, but they're interesting to view the first time, and are still appreciable a decade from release when they're barely available.

I'm kinda with you on this one, after all once you view it once it's not as if anything else in it is really going to pop out at you and surprise you in a second viewing. I mostly enjoy seeing them as proof something is coming. Usually, but not always, a sneak peek trailer will definitely mean that film will be coming our way.

Since the UK got also only a high-res track it's no surprise. I don't care though, because it's quite impossible to even hear any difference.

mmmmm....sometimes it is, but this is an old film. We were neve gonna have a true sonic experience with it.

He gives the audio track high enough marks for me to not care.

I was just looking at the comparison screenshots between the DVDs and the Blu. They look very, very close.

Exactly what I though. Lack of grain was the most obvious.

^Well, I think it closely resembling the Platinum Edition in colors is a great thing. Frank and Ollie, among others, helped guide Disney through that restoration and upon seeing the final results, declared that is was their colors (as far as they remember). Besides still not having the RKO title card, this should be a fairly faithful restoration.

I know Disney is keen on making new 4k masters for all their old films but I have a feeling that Disney is just going to use the current 2k masters that they have for all the Platinums from Bambi onward (4k scans starting with Sleeping Beauty). Here is a comment Don Hahn made during an interview when referring to Blu-Ray:

"If there is a drawback, I would have to say that its greatest strength might also be its greatest drawback! That would only be because the clarity and quality of a Blu-ray presentation really shows everything. A good example would be Bambi. We were recently reviewing the 2004 restoration and notice some additional artifacts in the image. So now, we are going back to do another "beauty pass" on an already beautiful restoration."

To me, this doesn't suggest that they are going back to the original negative, rescanning at 4k, and essentially doing a brand new restoration from scratch. It sounds more like they're taking the original 2k restoration and adding additional DNR. The end results are great but it just adds to the cheapness of this release being almost an exact copy of the Platinum Edition (extras and all). IDK, but it just feels like Alice got more effort put into it and it's not even part of this so-called prestigious line.

These may be the same colors, but closer inspection shows that this Blu-ray has a few more lines of information on each side of the frame. I, for one, am always grateful when a new presentation shows more of the picture than was previously seen.

Do we need a from scratch restoration all the time though?
