I think Pinocchio definetly has my favourite Platinum cover art! I'm not a huge fan of the movie... I prefer the more modern ones, but this release seems very well done from the sounds of it! I haven't watched this in years, and I'm excited to listen to the acadmeny-award-winning score!

56-minute documentary? Now that's what I'm talking about! The maquette turnarounds sound really awesome, too. This release sounds better than some of past few Platinums (Sleeping Beauty excluded).

I really like that back cover art. In fact, I think Pinocchio himself looks better there than on the front. I have to admit, though, that the front is growing on me.

Just to recap what we know of this release so far:

DISC ONE
* Audio Commentary with Leonard Maltin, Eric Goldberg, and J.B. Kaufman
* Cine-Explore (BD only)

DISC TWO
* No Strings Attached: The Making of Pinocchio (56:02)
* The Sweatbox (6:22)
* Geppetto's Then and Now: Live Action Reference Footage (10:55)

Deleted Scenes:
* Introduction (0:57)
* The Story of the Grandfather Tree (3:17)
* Starving in the Belly of the Whale (4:14)
* Alternate Ending (1:55)

Deleted Songs:
???

Galleries:
* Maquette Turnaround Movies (Introduction?) (0:43)
* Maquette Turnaround 23 (0:32)
* Maquette Turnaround 27 (0:49)
* Maquette Turnaround 29 (0:36)
* Maquette Turnaround 33 (0:53)
* Maquette Turnaround 35 (0:55)
* Maquette Turnaround 37 (0:34)
* Maquette Turnaround 43A (0:33)
* Maquette Turnaround 43B (0:37)
* Maquette Turnaround 45 (0:32)

* Maquette Turnaround 49 (0:44)
* Maquette Turnaround 55 (0:34)
* Maquette Turnaround 57 (0:32)
* Maquette Turnaround 63 (0:28 )

Theatrical Trailers:
* 1984 (1:22)
* 1992 (1:26)

Games & Activities:
* Pinocchio's Puzzles
* Pinocchio Knows Trivia Challenge (BD only)

Of the deleted songs, I imagine a demo of "I'm a Happy Go Lucky Fellow" might make the list.

Even Snow White's documentary clocks in at less than 40 minutes, whereas Pinocchio's clocks in at just under an hour!

But are they including the 1940 trailer?

I'm glad we are getting a long documentary. The story behind this film is pretty interesting and I was worried they wouldn't share much of it, but I am hoping that the making of's running time is a good indicator that we will get lots of juicy info about the first version of the film that Walt was unhappy with and made the animators redo. Hopefully lots of storyboards and artwork have been dug out and presented in the feature.

I'm confused about something,

Bluray.com says that Pinocchio's audio track will be in 7.1, but Disneyvideos says it's in 5.1.

I watched SB the other day right after I finished setting up my 2 new speakers for the 7.1 upgrade, and I thought it was well worth it, esp. the Dragon encounter bonus feature that really let me know what I was missing when I had a 5.1 surround system, so hopefully Bluray.com will be true about the 7.1 track being on the bluray.

She was the mean blond girl in Camp Rock and has done a lot of interstitials on Disney Channel. I actually like her, but I don't want her covering any song from Pinocchio, and I have a feeling its going to be When You Wish Upon A Star. Would it be to much to ask for Disney to get someone who could handle the song in a classic way? I'm thinking Harry Connick Jr. or Michael Buble both would have been excellent choices and both are big enough names to attract attention. If Disney wants to hire a Disney Channel star to do songs for more modern films, that's fine by me. But when it's the 70th anniversary of a film that is still widely cherished by millions, get someone with some clout.

To Disney, though, it's just another opportunity to flaunt their gang of Disney Channel stars who can't sing to save their lives (in my opinion).

This is great news indeed! I hope Disney will continue this trend. :D

I sincerely hope that the music of the film gets enough attention in this documentary (not only the songs but also the score), although I'm sure Disney won't ignore such an important topic, especially regarding the influential "When You Wish Upon a Star".

I am guessing they will end up NOT including the 1940 trailer. It was the lone suppliment on the Limited Issue/Gold Collection disc (well, except for full color character artwork on disc and film recomendations :lol:) and, as such, the concept of including it here would probably go over the heads of the DVD production team. So I will probably have to keep the Gold version for that.

Really nice to hear about everything else though, especially the documentary!
