Becoming Jane I like this movie a lot. I know it is not historically accurate, but it's a charming movie and just lovely.

Well, I don't think they'd let them say 'cock' in an "All Ages Admitted" trailer here in the States, so I'm sure the actual movie is still in its original, unedited glory.

The Buddy Holly Story and Strangers on a Train

I just watched "Home on the Range" (I finally bought the DVD) for the first time since I saw it in theaters and liked it far more than I remember liking it in 2004. The villain was one of the worst in the Disney Cannon and its story is one of the most improbable but I loved the farm animals too much to care.

3/5 from me and a spot in my top 30 (#28, Up from #37 where it ranked before this return viewing).

Oh, my, I'm so sorry you had to watch "Batman and Robin". That movie is fantastic when you're drunk and watching with your friends just to hear Arnold's mind-shatteringly bad dialogue ("What killed da dinosaurs? Da ice age!" Um, wasn't there a meteorite in there somewhere?), but is simply an abysmal movie all around. Do yourself a favor sometime and check out "Batman Returns". A totally different style from "Batman Begins", but it's my favorite Batman movie yet.

I just watched "Clue" and "The Warriors", because Best Buy had them for around $5 a piece and I thought "Why not?"

I still find "Clue" an overall enjoyable film, though I see why many people don't like it. Its virtues mostly lie in the performance, as the script can be kind of... unfunny sometimes. Though the film does contain one of my favorite lines- "Why has the car stopped?" "It's frightened!"- and I enjoy the gimmicky ending. Overall, maybe a B-.

"The Warriors"... I acknowledge its flaws, but I love this movie. Maybe it's because it's visually awesome, maybe because it's set in NYC in the 70's (well, filmed rather), maybe because I love updated Greek epics, maybe because the color-coordinated gangs look so neat, or maybe because I dig shirtless buff young men in vests. For whatever reason, this is one of my favorite movies. A

I watched "The Rescuers" and "Snow Buddies" on Friday night. "The Rescuers" is such a great movie...it makes me laugh, it makes me cry...

"Snow Buddies" is really cute- I had just watched it a couple weeks ago, but our friend and his kids came over, and the kids wanted to watch it.

Friday night, I saw "Night of the Living Dead 3D", the 2D version, ha, and "Mr. Bean's Holiday", both at a friend's house. This latest version of Night of the Living Dead had some awful aspects, but was fun as a "bad movie" to watch with friends, and I did enjoy the twist to the story. However, there were too many main character suicides. Too many people just giving up. Not good in a zombie movie. As for Bean, we really enjoyed that one! I remember not being very entertained by his first movie back when it came out (can't say much about it because I haven't seen it since), even though I was already a Bean fan, but this one I found to be much more of a treat. I really need to give the first movie another chance, because that was a long time ago. Probably early in college for me, and my tastes have altered a bit.

Oliver! (1968), really, REALLY good!

The most recent film I watched was West Side Story (1961). I never finished it though...it was late.

Martin (1976) - It starts off with a pointless, boring, and just horribly made opening. Takes awhile to finally come to any kind of point, but when it does, it begins to get interesting. Though it never really makes a great, solid statement about religion or cult celebrity status, it does have a few strikingly funny and exciting sequences. However, it's not the masterpiece many say it is.




The Boogeyman (1980) - This movie definitely belongs in the "So Bad, It's Good" section of low-budget horror. It's horrendously acted but shockingly well visualized, which is what gives the film its reputation by genre fans. The thing that sends the coin-toss-up to "better than average" is that, for all that it rips off from The Amityville Horror, The Exorcist, Halloween, and Suspiria - it is a wickedly hilarious film. A lot of howlingly funny lines and sequences. Especially the bizarre death scenes.




Kwaidan (1965) - overall, a very good Japanese ghost-anthology horror film. The first and fourth stories are the shortest and are the weaker links in the package. The first story, "The Black Hair" is bluntly unromantic for its' subject matter and predictable. The fourth story, "In a Cup of Tea" takes the madness route in a story that would have been much scarier had it been played more realistically. The second and third stories are gold, however, and make this movie really worth watching.

The latest movie I saw was Who framed Roger Rabbit last night. It was late....I just purchased the 2-dsik edition DVD.

Rent(2006)-I loved it! Although after seeing it live, my love went down a couple percents..

12 Angry Men (1957), a great film that you really don't want to be interrupted from (although I was in some parts ).

Watched one of my guilty pleasures - from 1972 Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things. This film was directed by Bob Clark and has withstood the test of time for the most part, except for the clothes, especially Alan Ormsby's pants!! A college initiation ritual gone bad is the theme of this film and while it tries to be scarey and gorey, it is just a whole lot of fun. B+

Dick Tracy, Detective (1945). A minor Film Noir that's just barely 1 hour long. Still fun, but Tracy doesn't have any of his gadgets like his watch so I thought that was kind of lame.

Moulin Rogue!-I really disliked this one...

The History Boys - cool. i guess.
Elizabeth- first time seeing it. it was alright, i guess.
Crank - this movie was just insane. good, i guess but insane.

Victor/Victoria (1982), this was just great. Really funny with some excellent music.
