It looks ok for a multiplayer game. I don't have any plans to buy this, but I might rent it when/if any of the stores gets a copy in stock.

I think it looks like a lot of fun, I'll probably put it on my Christmas list, but perhaps I will rent it first to make sure I like it.

Just a heads up for the UD Wii crowd. The Check Mii Out Channel was released tonight. Its available for free in the Wii Shop under the Wii Ware section. I haven't checked it out yet, but this is the channel for Mii contests, etc...

So playing though Galaxy tonight I finally realised that I need a battery charger for my Wii Remote. I only have one Wii Remote, and I don't plan to buy another one right now. The Wii is basically a single player experience at my house, which is one reason I can't wait for online Brawl in 2008 and the reason for only one Wii Remote.

Anyway what is the best charger to get for the Wii Remote? I keep hearing the Nyko one recommended, but I noticed its for 2 Wii Remotes. Should I go ahead and just get that one, and keep the extra battery for when/if I get another Wii Remote... or is there a better option for only one Remote? Also is it ok to leave the Remote in the charger when its not in use?

Thanks ahead of time.

Yeah, I would go ahead and buy the Nyko one. It is a good charger for one or two Wii remotes. I'm assuming sometime down the line you will pick up another Wii remote, and the dual charge station might come in handy then. The Nyko is the one I have and I think it works well.

Thanks

I'll probably pickup an extra Wii Remote sometime, I'm just not in any hurry right now. However replacing batteries, is getting annoying so its time for a charger. :)

I went to one local Toy's R Us, to get in on the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal. Every single game I wanted was out of stock, at that store. Come to find out, yesterday, they got 130 Wii's in, and the guy said they sold completely out by this morning. He said that almost every single person who bought a Wii picked up at least 3 games, and most of them actually bought 6. I believe it. They literally had around 40 games, total. Most of those were multiple copies of the same game.

I ended up buying 3 $49.99 titles (B2G1 free), and used my $25.00 Gift Card from the Super Mario Galaxy deal. Because I spent $75.00 or more, I used the coupon from this weeks ad, and also got a $10.00 Gift Card. So, for $83.83, I got three games, and a $10.00 Gift Card. I came home, and called the other location. They had the three games I wanted. They told me to bring the games I bought from the other store, and they would exchange them.

So, my haul was: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, and Need for Speed: Pro-Street. All for $83.83, plus I have a $10.00 Gift Card to spend on another purchase! Not a bad deal, at all!

Not that I have any time to play them, right now. I am still working my way through Super Mario Galaxy. I have 32 Stars, at present. I'm not rushing through. I'm really taking my time, and enjoying this game. In fact, I've went back and replayed some levels, just for the heck of it. I really LOVE this game, and it is the best game I've played in many years.

Anyway, I'm excited to at least try out my new purchases!

By the way, the Wii has now turned 1 year old as of November 19th! I've had my Wii since November 26th, 2006, and I have truly enjoyed it. It's the best console I've had since the Super Nintendo Entertainment System!

IGN.com is celebrating Wii's One Year Birthday, with an 8-page article:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/836/836459p1.html

Engadget.com is also celebrating, with a Wii Cake (which I swear I've seen before):

http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/19/happy-birthday-wii/

USAToday.com has a great article on the popularity of the Wii:

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/gaming...-shopping_N.htm

I'm sure there are more, but, I'm busy celebrating with some great new games, including the best game on Wii, Super Mario Galaxy!

I forgot about the B2G1 sale. Not a lot of things I want to pickup right now, except Guitar Hero 3. Galaxy is keeping me busy for now. I didn't have time to play today, but I'm at 19 stars right now.

After "finishing" Galaxy tonight I might go out and pickup the Wii Zapper tomorrow.

I've heard some good things about Link's Crossbow Training thats packed in with the Zapper. The only bad things I've heard were that if you use a battery charger the Wii Remote will not fit into the Zapper. That and some reviews say the Zapper shell feels cheap.

Has anyone picked up the Zapper yet? or any of the "Zapper" games that are out right now (Ghost Squad, etc...)?

I went ahead and picked up the Wii Zapper and Link's Crossbow Training this morning. It seems to be sold out everywhere online, but I found a few copies at Gamestop (The guy working there said it was selling like crazy over the weekend.).

Haven't played it a lot, but there are two minor things I don't like.

1.) Link's Crossbow Training comes in a paper sleeve like Wii Sports. Not a problem at first, but over time this can scratch up your disc if your not careful. This is easily fixed with a extra DVD/CD case, but they really should include cases with these games.

2.) I thought the Wii Zapper was fairly sturdy (unlike some reviews), but the back hinge under the Nunchuck is pretty fragile. I'm not sure how it will hold up over time taking the Nunchuck/Remote in and out of the Zapper.

It only takes a little while to setup, and Link's Crossbow Training is excellent (and challenging) for a "pack in" game. Its worth the $25 I paid, and I'll checkout some of the other Zapper games soon. If you have a Wii and you like "gun" games I highly recommend checking this out.

Some of you may remember my disc read errors from last year. I never sent the Wii in. The thought of getting a refurb replacement made me delay it. With my warrenty running out and what happened tonight I'm going to have to I guess...

I exited the Mii Channel and loaded up Galaxy (was already in the Wii). Got the wonderful noise and disc read error. I took the game out and then put it back in and played for awhile. Anyway when I took the game out I looked at the bottom. I always try to keep my games in the best shape possible, but I noticed 3 scratches on the disc all in circular motion like someone tryed to draw a circle around the disc. It had to happen from the disc drive. I checked a few other discs and noticed small nicks on them, although nothing like the scratches on Galaxy. I'm not sure if this is from the drive or not. I'm afraid to even use the thing now. The games play fine. The scratches are pretty light, but noticable if you look for them.

I guess I'm going to call and send it in. I don't have any VC games, but it would be nice if they switched over my saves and Miis. Is there any chance I will get "my" Wii back and not a refurb? If not should I just get a cheap SD card and then do the advanced replacement? Also does anyone know if Nintendo will replace my scratched discs?

I guess all systems can have problems, but in 20+ years this is the first time I have ever had a "bad" Nintendo system. :(

That's what my 360 used to do Darth. Make sure your console is on a firm flat surface and make sure you don't move it when the disc is in motion. On the 360 the dvd drive spins at 24x so its very easy to scratch discs, even with the slightest movement. It repositioned my 360 and since then its been fine.

I don't know about a Wii - but its just a suggestion.

Thanks... I checked, but it looked like the Wii was sitting ok.

I went ahead and called Nintendo, and had no trouble setting up a repair. She said I should get my system back and not a refurb. She said it sounded like a bad disc drive and that would be replaced. She also said it doesn't sound like the whole system needs replacing Also I'm supposed to send back Galaxy as well.

They said that they were currently backed up, and it would take 3 weeks for the repair. She appoligized several times about the system, and the delay in getting it fixed. Also I get a new warranty on my Wii. Whenever it is fixed I get 1 year from that date, so the system should be under warranty until Jan or Feb 2009 now.

So far so good, a very fast easy setup on the repair. I've already got my FedEx label (they email it to you), and I just need to pack up the Wii and game.

Hopefully I get the Wii back before Brawl in March. I'll try to keep everyone updated on the whole process. Hopefully no one else has to get their system repaired, but if you do Nintendo seems pretty good so far.

Got my Wii back today, and well... I'm not happy at all.

I did get my Wii back and not a refurb, but now it looks like something that was used. When I opened the box I knew something was wrong. There was black spots, and dust on the Wii. They wiped off pretty easy, but then I noticed a screw sticking out of the bottom, and a small crack beside it. It also looks like they may have used a screw driver to pull the face of the Wii off for repairs (small scratches). All my game saves, etc... are there. Although now it want connect to the internet. Probably need to reset that up. They even included a letter saying they couldn't save my data, but its clearly there. They replaced the disc drive, and its actually louder than the original. I guess the old one wasn't right and thats why it failed to load. Also some of my slow downs when loading games are gone with the new drive.

Also I got my Galaxy game back. They didn't even replace the game that the Wii scratched up.

Anyway the system works, but I called Nintendo support again and now I'm waiting for someone from Administration to call in the next 72 hours. I guess I sounded upset on the phone, but like I told the guy on the phone it isn't his fault. I just wished Wiis were on store shelfs. I would honestly just go buy another one. Am I picky? Yes, but I sent in a like new system and got this back.

Sorry for the venting, but beware if you need to send in your Wii for anything. The internet is full of good stories, but there are bad ones like mine...

I can relate.

I had a system error wich caused it to freeze.

Then I stopped playing for a few months. I got some new games recently and they all did software updates and since then the error has gone. It works perfectly fine now.

sorry to hear about your troubles though, because the wii is an awesome console.

Has anyone played "Zack and Wiki" for the Wii? I hear that it is a really great game, but I'm not sure. Anyone have experience with this game? Any thoughts?

Got a call this morning, and they are going to replace my console and Galaxy disc. The console will be a remanufactured one, but they assured me it would look/act like a new one from the store shelf. All of my information will be transferred over as well.

They are having me send the stuff to NOA in Redmond instead of the United Radio repair place. Hopefully this goes better. Even with my bad repair experience so far, I can say that the people working the call center for Nintendo are top notch.

I've already got my FedEx return label (they email you the stuff to send it off), and I'll ship it off later today. It will probably be another 2 to 3 weeks, so hopefully I still get my Wii back before Brawl.

I managed to find one of those a couple weeks back, and picked up a classic controller, Wii Play (mostly for the second remote), an extra nunchuck and the gun at the same time.

I have to say, it's quite a bit of fun. Other than the Wii and Gun pack-ins, the only real game I've got so far is Mario Galaxy (Wii Play doesn't really count, as it's so simple). In taking a look at the list of current Wii games, there are probably another 9 or 10 that I want to pick up over the next few months, but what I'm really looking forward to are some of the yet to be released titles... Mario Kart, Golf, Tennis, Baseball, etc.

I also picked up Mario 1-3 and the Lost Levels NES titles off the VC in the last week, and it's been great playing those again (admittedly, I've got all 4 titles on various Gameboy Colour/Advance cartridges; even the Lost Levels, but still). I actually expected them to get the titles up to the VC more quickly... in particular, the N64 selection is pathetic. I know N64 never had that many good games, but come on, they can do a bit better than that... what about Goldeneye, or the mario sports titles?
