I have watched bits and pieces of: Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, and about half of Pocahontas w/ audio commentary

Monsoon Wedding (2001 - India) (Viewed 22 June 2006): Watching a film with subtitles in a language you don't speak is an entirely different experience to watching one in your native language. No matter how good those subs are, something is going to get lost in translation. This is particularly true of a film set in a culture that is vastly different to your own. Monsoon Wedding, however, throws that theory out the window. Switching from English to Hindi to Punjabi all within the same scene, it proves that lanaguage is irrelevant when it comes to certain universal themes. With the exception of a molestation sub-plot that doesn't really seem to go anywhere, this film can best be described as a 'joy' to watch. That is a little cliché these days, but it truly applies to this film. We know where this film is going, but it is a pleasure getting there. Rating: A

Umberto D (1952 - Italy) (Viewed 22 June 2006): Made up of largely non-professional actors, this film is a sweet and sentimental heartbreaker of a film about the titular old man, barely scraping by on his pension, and his little dog Filke. It is about the redemptive aspects of having that one thing to cling to in life - or is it? The ambiguity that director Vittorio De Sica (The Bicycle Thief) leaves us with at the end of the film is as thought-provoking as it is heartbreaking. An "issues" movie that is actually a beautiful thing to watch. Rating: A

Blazing Saddles

I rented this from a library yesterday. It was funny at some parts and the ending was something i did not see coming.

The Brothers Grimm - Good movie, puts an intresting twist on things

Finally got to watch Glory Road, the Disney film about the basketball coach who was the first to start an all-black team in the NCAA tourney. Really a good movie, and what was nice were the extras that included interviews with the 'real' team members and the 'real' Don "The Bear" Haskins. Very enjoyable movie.

Tarzan w/audio commentary. Since listening to the commentary on the Mary Poppins 40th Anniversary Edition DVD, I have come to respect commentaries, and that they are not just taking up space on the disc. I liked the commentary on Tarzan and i was quite enjoyable, and laughable (if that's a word). I liked how Disney used "Deep Canvas" on Tarzan, and as the directors said, "Deep Canvas" reall does take you inside the jungle. So that was very cool. This was a great movie that ended the 3rd, and so far last, Disney Golden Age in Animation

I watched Mary Poppins last night for the first time I can remember(found an old Disney Channel recording), and I liked it. If I was younger it would probably be my favorite movie, but I just thought it was okay. I was surprised at how long it was though, and how creepy it could be at times. I'm glad I got to finally see it though.

I'm watching Home Alone for the first time(that I can remember) right now. I'm liking it. It's weird, though, I've had the movie since it came out on tape and I never watched it. We must have just got it from Blockbuster and never brought it back or something since it's the real tape in a recordable tape's box.

Toy Story w/audio commentary, Toy Story 2 w/audio commentary, and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (I haven't seen the original, but I'm baby-sitting right now, 8-8, and the kid I'm watching put it in, and I watched, it was quite good, wish I would've seen the first one though)!

Wed: - Hoodwinked - Loved it, came as a suprise that I found it so enjoyable. Really a good movie.

Thurs: - Wallace & Gromit: TCOTWR - Another good movie, animation was different of course but the difference was enjoyable.

I went to the dollar theater and saw Just My Luck-What a stupid film. Glad I only wasted $1.50 on the damn thing.

I watched this movie for the first time last night and I would highly recommend it.

the last movie i rented was Blazing Saddles. I thought it was pretty funny for a 70s comedy
Right now, i took out vol 1 of chip and dale: RR from my nearest library. the show was okay from what i saw.

Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest comedies of all time, I rented Superman - Braniac attacks a few days back, and I may pick something up in about 15 minutes
