It's not just that.. There is simply no need for the explanation!
No where in the story do they try to find out where her powers come from and the plot doesn't revolve around that.
Her story was about her learning to control them.

So in a way, it's like asking:
Why are there Mermaids in The Little Mermaid?
Why is there an enchantress in Beauty and the Beast?
Why is there a Lamp and magic in Aladdin? EXPLAIN!
Why is there a fairy godmother in Cinderella?
Where did the blue fairy come from?

Actually, with Frozen, it's different. Elsa is a central character. She's not a long-unknown legend like the lamp, schooled in Magic like the Enchantress or the Fairy Godmother or the Blue Fairy, or an entire species like the Merpeople. She is a main character who is an odd one out. And she's more interesting than anything you listed. Otherwise, why explain Rapunzel's hair?

Tristy as for Hermione being born to muggles it goes as far as magic being a biological trait("magical blood" and other terms) and can just appear out of nowhere in the biological makeup at birth, sort of like other oddities such as autism. There's also Squibbs, who are born to wizards, but have no magic and are very rare.

Rapunzels hair explanation is crucial to the plot- she got her hair from the magic flower that gothel was using to keep herself young, which is why gothel kidnapped her which is the catalyst for the entire story. Explaining Elsa's powers add nothing to the story.

Come on, go with that idea that Frozen's a distant sequel to the original story and have Elsa's powers be the result of the original Snow Queen crashing the baby shower Maleficent style or something and passing her power onto her.

UK release tomorrow!
I wish there was a blu/DVD combo pack. Don't suppose if anyone knows if any store is getting an exclusive (like the extra target disc)?
It's looking unlikely which is very sad.

I've heard 'Get a Horse' is only on the 3D release. I have no intention of buying into 3D so I would be upset if this wasn't on the 2D disc. Was it on the 2D bluray in US?

Despite all this, I'm excited to finally own Frozen.

Then, Elsa would be cursed. She's born with the powers.

Pffft, it took them for-never to make a Hans plush; they aren't doing a short about his life. (As much as my inner fangirl craves it.)

I love Princess Anna don't get me wrong, but a Elsa short sounds more interesting. A Anna short would most likely be a wedding between Kristoff and her, which would be cute, but too much like Tangled's short.

That would be cool and fair giving everybody a backstory cartoon short and the one with Hans could show his punishment and whether or not the Troll Theory is what they're were going for, or just a interweb theory.

But guess what's going to happen instead, Olaf and Marshmallow shorts. I bet you $ 10 it will happen. Hopefully I'm wrong here.

This. I don't think they ever cared about Hans, his villain plot-twist is so badly written.

This bet is $ 100 that they won't do anything with Hans :eyebrow:

Animator Claims Disney Swiped her Snowman
http://www.courthousenews.com/2014/03/31/66590.htm
An animator claims in court that Disney copied "original elements" of her snowman character in the movie and trailers for the $1 billion smash hit "Frozen." Kelly Wilson sued the Walt Disney Company and affiliates for copyright infringement, in Federal Court. Most of Wilson's 23-page complaint involves a teaser trailer for "Frozen" and its similarities to Wilson's short, 2D animated movie, "The Snowman."

"In June 2013, defendants released the 'teaser trailer' for 'Frozen' (the '"Frozen"' teaser trailer') The 'Frozen' teaser trailer is substantially similar to 'The Snowman,' and it is almost identical to the original element of 'The Snowman,' including but not limited to: the plot, themes, dialogue, mood, setting, pace, characters and sequence of events," the complaint states

Kelly's film is about an "average Joe" snowman who loses his carrot nose and tries to make sure it does not end up in the hands of some hungry rabbits. She claims that Disney's trailer uses the same plot but instead of rabbits, the snowman character, Olaf, tries to keep a moose from making the nose into a snack.

Kelly says Disney had plenty of opportunities to see her film before it released its own version. In fact, she claims, Disney animators saw her film and talked to her at a California film festival. Plaintiff won the award for 'Youth Work Honorable Mention' for 'The Snowman' at the 54th San Francisco International Film Festival in 2011, in a category where 'The Snowman' competed with a short film created by an employee of Pixar Animation Studios ('Pixar') - a subsidiary of Disney - and it was made known by Film Festival producers that Pixar employees were present for the screenings. In fact, at screenings of the short films in 2011, both plaintiff and the Pixar employees were invited on state together to discuss their respective films," according to the lawsuit.
Here's the short film in question that Disney allegedly ripped-off for the Frozen teaser.

I know, Im expecting another comedy short.

what I was thinking was:
Elsa- how she got her powers
Anna-not sure, maybe something set after the movie with Olaf & Kristoff
Kristoff-his backstory with the Trolls
Hans- his backstory with his brothers.

each short would be released in front of 4 consecutive Disney animated(or live action) films & then eventually all together on disc. I think Id actually prefer that to a sequel!

what is the Troll theory regarding Hans?

also when did they make a Hans plush? Ive only seen the fashion doll from the DS.

People are making up a theory that the trolls turned him evil with their magic to make Anna go to Kristoff

I find Hans fangirls a bit harsh ? I mean you can like Hans and not be a " fangirl " would you be calling me a fangirl of Ursula ? Ratigan ?

The Troll Theory is that the trolls interfered with Hans, because he got in the way of their OTP of Kristoff/ Anna. Because of what they say about the engagement.

So she's a bit of a fixer upper
That's a minor thing
This quote engagement is a flex arrangement ( flex meaning bend, curve- sounds like manipulation no ? )
And by the way I don't see no ring

So she's a bit of a fixer upper
Her brain's a bit betwixt
Get the fiance out of the way
And the whole thing will be fixed

Also from TV Tropes
It has often been complained that Hans' descent into evil happened way too quickly and felt like Third Act Stupidity. The trolls openly sing 'Get the fiancé out of the way and the whole thing will be fixed' in Fixer Upper. After Hans is imprisoned, Anna dates Kristoff, or at least shows a romantic interest in him, as the trolls hoped for.
The trolls have already shown to have questionable morals and ability to rewrite human brains

"For the First time in Forever" is out... And I gotta say, the lyrics aren't as bad as the other ones... but they are still weak compared to the original lyrics.
The Anna parts are good, but could use some polishing. The Elsa part is just horrible.. I mean, seriously? "Don't reveal the secret of the ice, be like what your people want, hide your feelings/senses, put on the mask"

I know that it doesn't sound as bad as I'm making it out to be, and I think it's mainly because the "conceal, don't feel" parts is one of my favorite song lyrics in the movie. :S

I just don't understand why they didn't use "Hide your feelings/senses" twice, like in english.
Another problem is Anna's voice. Man what a let down. The Japanese version hit it right, every note is perfect and it was just all around strong. But the Arabic... Wow..
I couldn't understand the first verse at all! It sounds like a 13 yr old girl is singing and then it suddenly jumps to an 18 yr old's voice...
Also, the singer doesn't know how to go soft, like Kristen Bell in the second "forever" in the first chorus and "in the zone"
But the second verse and especially the second chorus sounded really really good. Which is why it's bothering me.. Half the song sounds good and the other half sounds terrible.. WHY!! Why does she sound better in the second chorus? Why does she hit all the right notes (with the exception of "Romance") and not in the first one?

I'm not even going to touch the last chorus. Anna was good-mediocre and Elsa was just WTH...
I hate how in a lot of the arabic princess songs the singers just suddenly go operatic and preform high notes when they could easily stick with the original notes.. >__>

Ok.. sorry for my rant guys.. I just had high sky-rocketed expectations... T_____T
I especially thought that the lyrics would sound poetic and beautiful in arabic, but it was the complete opposite.. It's like broken arabic.
