Not everyone is like that but I sure see a lot who want their violence, sex and dirty jokes.

Um, ever hear of the movie The Godfather? Its one of the best movies ever made, number one on imdb's top 250 movies, and is a cinematic gem. Yes, it has violence and guns, but then again, how come not too many animated movies like Bambi are on imdb's top 250 movies.

People here should go out and watch good R-rated movies

One thing I find sad is that if someone were to make a movie like Snow White or Bambi today, it wouldn't do very well at the box office.

Actually, if they're under 17 like you, shouldn't they stay in and watch good R-rated movies? Probably more comfortable and (less frightening)! But why are we basing the merits of <i>The Godfather</i> and <i>Bambi</i> on its objectionable content or on what makes the IMDb's Top 250 List? Few would argue that both are great films, no matter how removed in style, medium, pacing, and story they may be.

Any "Best of" list that is based on voting introduces bias. The IMDb list is severely skewed towards action/sci-fi/fantasy and its primary votership is males ages 14-30. A critics' best list is likely to be skewed towards foreign/obscure/art films. That's what they do. It'd be wrong to bash what's different, right? AFI's lists are skewed towards the old-fashioned stuff. The people voting on that are generally older and clearly have a soft spot for nostalgia. I have a Zagat's Movie Guide with I believe the top 1,000 rated films of all time. It was conducted on the Internet too, so you have a bit of the Terry Gilliam / David Fincher / Tim Burton / Johnny Depp fanboy vibes going into it, but it seems more balanced than most others. There's a mix of foreign films, old films, new films. It's not a great list, and most of it stems from an exclusive preliminary ballot.

But to come to some sort of concluding point, what other people think is good or great shouldn't ultimately determine what you think is good or great, nor should the MPAA's rating. <i>The Godfather</i> isn't a great film because it's violent or rated R, and <i>Bambi</i> isn't a great film for its G rating and implicitness. For a more appropriate judgment of a film (or any piece of art), you've really got to go further than that.

As I said before, base the comparasion not only the movie, but also the history behind it, the times, and even what happend and how it marked today´s people

I actually don't think fart jokes are that bad. I mean I think Timon and Pumbaa did it perfectly, they didn't over do it and when they made fart jokes they made it into a pun. So it was the only time a fart joke was amusing. What I don't like is how they over do it coughDreamworkscough! I mean sure 2 fart jokes wouldn't be so bad but nonstop of it just gets on my nerves! Slapstick, clever dialouge and bad puns beat fart jokes anyday!

Now tell us this, what Disney movies do you like?

I like all the newer ones with the exception of Aladdin (and 3D movies), especially The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Lion King. The older movies just lack action and the music is not my taste. I'm not a too big fan of fairy tales either. *shrug*

Do you like Pinocchio, Dumbo or Fantasia?

I have never seen Fantasia, therefore i can't say I dislike it. The same reasons I put for Snowhite and Bambi apply to Dumbo and Pinoccio, though.

That's not what I'm looking for in a film, what I want is a story. In the old movies they are just too much one-way dead-endish.
However I like movies with animals as main characters (The Fox and the Hound), I prefer it when these stories are sad and/or dark, most Disney movies don't have that. At least not in the same way as Felidae has it.

Okay well I don't mind fart jokes too much either but I find too much annoying as well. One or two for me as well but I would prefer finding humour in other ways.

Those I have seen, yes. Nemo was totally overrated (the best jokes were already shown in the advertisements) and Dinosaurs (it's not Pixar I think?) had a terribly flat story. A Bugs Life seemed to be a second Antz.

You should see the Toy Story films, Monster's Inc. and The Incredibles. I really thought all those films were excellent. I agree that Nemo is very overrated. As for A Bug's Life, it was good but not great.

A reason I don't like old disney films is the music. The music is SOOO bad in those films. Who can be heard humming "Gay Little Spring Song" and how many times do you hear people humming "A Whole new world"? Think about that

Just because you don't hear people humming it today doesn't mean it better. In fact think about this: Everybody at Disney, Pixar even Dreamworks have had to been inspired by Snow White, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beuaty, Fantasia, Lady and the Tramp and many otheres. So without the older films we wouldn't have Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Little Mermaid, Pocahontas or any film Pixar or Dreamworks have created. Or any animated film for that matter.

I personally find some of the music in the old animated classics to be better than that in the new animated classics.

I just find the music in those early disney films to be really cheezy. I like the music of beauty and the beast a WHOLE lot better than like, Snow White.

Well, Snow White is very much a product of the thirties and so it reflected the times. Tastes generally change, but I find it amazing how timeless a lot of Snow White is after all these decades.

It is pioneering in many more ways than the obvious "oh, it's the first full-length [colored] animated feature ever produced," and I personally have a lot of respect for it. I also enjoy the story, but that's just me.

If you can´t say something nice, dont saý notthing at all.

As I said before, don´t focus only in the movie, but also in the times it was showed.But, why do I bother, a young kiddo like you will never understand the beauty beyond the crap of cheap-shoots gags and modern movies

Old Disney songs cheesy? I always thought the newer ones were cheesier although still pretty darn good.

But the biggest cheese of all is when they have new artists cover songs.
