After Bond moved, I definitely expect it to be a matter of time before Disney announces a delay for "Soul." Disney has made it obvious before they don't want to have the first big movie out of the gates to test the waters.
I don't think "Soul" will move to Disney+, mainly because they very recently announced the short that will be attached to the theatrical release. Something I realised recently is that Pixar already had one movie seriously affected by the pandemic this year and I assume they probably don't want another one. I honestly won't be surprised if "Soul" goes to February, necessitating "Raya and the Last Dragon" going to summer 2021. I hate this as much as anyone, but we have to get used to the reality of our most anticipated movies moving several months.

I would be happy if Raya ended up with a big summer release. That's more in line with the big November release that was originally intended than being dropped in the early Spring months. I don't care what happens to the PIXAR films either way.

That's sad. So much work put into making a nice film only for it to be relegated to the small screen

So no “Premiere Access” phooey this time, I guess? I was beginning to expect that it would move to Raya’s spot and Raya would get pushed back.

So they are not charging $29.99 for it...I wonder why. I am grateful that I won't have to pay extra (we would have, though), but it's not going to make as much $ as other Pixar films...

This move is a bit surprising since they had confirmed a theatrical release less than a month ago and even announced a short would be preceding it in theaters. I'm guessing Burrow will now be released on its own on Disney+ like Out was. Hopefully, it will be on the same day as Soul and it won't get delayed. It's interesting that this is not a "premier access" title like Mulan. That must mean Mulan didn't meet expectations, otherwise I'm sure Disney would have loved to squeeze every penny out of Soul too, if they believed they could.

This now leads to the possibility of any Disney movie being released on D+, regardless of brand name or level of confidence in their box-office success. The floodgates are pretty much opened. Though I can't imagine this pleases the theatres who were looking forward to showing the next big Pixar movie. FYI, now the next non-20th Century/Searchlight movie on the theatrical release calendar for Disney is "Raya and the Last Dragon."
Of Disney's upcoming theatrical films, the one that strikes me as most likely to move to D+ is "Cruella." It's been in post-production for almost a year, so it should be more-or-less finished at this point.

Regarding the more diverse stories, it seems clear that this is the direction both Pixar and WDAS decided to go with starting with Moana and Coco. Since I liked both of them I'm for it and looking forward to their next films about other cultures with Raya, Luca and Encanto...
As for the most mature, IDK from the teasers and trailers it seems to me like other Docter's films. He has good concepts but his executions tend to be more childish than Bird's or Stanton's. With Up it's the life journey Carl went through, but then you have the dogs and that bird that just ruin the atmosphere the film started with. Or with Inside Out, which is about the journey of a teenager, but then all the things in her head are just joke after joke. Soul seems to start the same with being a story about Joe's life but then we get to the souls world and once again with the poop jokes. IDK maybe it'll surprise me, but I doubt I'll like it better than WALL-E or Ratatouille.

The enthusiastic response is encouraging, but the press does tend to over-hype Pixar movies. I guess we'll find out soon enough. One thing's for sure. They have the Oscar in the bag. By the way, some new stills have been released. Based on the one below, I think it becomes clear that
22 will go into Joe's body and Joe into Mr. Mittens body. Joe seems scared and disoriented which he wouldn't be if he were in his own body and the cat points to a specific direction indicating he's familiar with his surroundings which excludes 22 who's new to Earth.

I think you're right.
And it actually makes more sense this way, as we've discussed before. Joe's still in his hospital clothes in that still, so I guess that scene comes right after the two souls get into the bodies. I wonder if Joe will be able to speak when he's in the cat's body.
