Personally, I found THIS more infuriating:

Seriously? 'I don't like any of them, so I'll let my iPhone decide?' I'd really like to know the name of this director so that I can boycott the rest of his films in the future. This guy comes off as a major fucking tool. Assholes like THIS get to be Academy members? There are film fanatics and cinephiles who would KILL to be able to vote, who have such passion for movies that they try seeing all the films released in a year and then compiling their own best of lists, and assholes like this asshole just let their FUCKING CELL PHONES pick their votes? No wonder the Oscars HAVE SUCKED DONKEY DICK for the past fucking decade if idiots like this are the ones voting. I'm sorry, I normally don't get this enraged over this kind of stuff... But this just--gah! You just want to punch the guy in the face.

Kind of sounds like 2006 when voters refused to see Brokeback Mountain on ridiculous moral grounds.

The Academy needs to reinvent its voting system. This is pretty damn ridiculous.

Precisely why opening those categories up to everyone is a bad idea. The crazy thing is he also says he didn't see any of the live-action shorts, but chooses not to vote in that category. Why not do the same for the animated category?

Ah well, we'll see tonight who's going to win. I'm excited about the show. Lots of great film nominated and some great performances.

A part of me wants Brave to win if only to see the reactions here and elsewhere.

As Much as I want Wreck-It-Ralph to win, this isn't the way to vote. If they are going to vote they need to actually watch the films they are voting for. I haven't watched all the short animated films but I plan to watch them later today via youtube. The only two I've seen is The Longest Daycare and Paperman.

Anyone watching the E! red carpet? Ryan Seacrest just said that Katzenberg won something but I missed it. Anyone catch it?

He was probably referring to the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. It was announced in September 2012 that this honorary award would be presented to Katzenberg at the Oscar ceremony in 2013 in acknowledgment of his role in “raising money for education, art and health-related causes, particularly those benefiting the motion picture industry.”

I can imagine someone voting with their Iphone and this video below being just as effective:

Once upon a time, the honorary Oscars were awarded during the show, with special time given to highlight the winners' contributions to film and their reason to win. Now the Academy gives the winners their own, untelevised show, have the honorees sit together at the main show, present a couple of clips of the winners' work, and quickly cut to them, then go back to the rest of the show.

It's a shit deal, IMO.

Paperman won and Brave won.

At least Brenda Chapman was on stage and allowed to talk.

I really wanted Wreck-it Ralph to win this one.

Disney caught lightning in a bottle with that one. Pixar is settling into a rut.

Personally I was rooting for Paranorman, but if something from Disney had to win I'm very happy it was Brave. I didn't hate Wreck-it Ralph, but it was easily my least favourite WDAS film since Chicken Little.
