The first 27 minutes of Finding Dory have been screened at CinemaCon 2016 and seem to have received a good response from the people who were in attendance:

Also, here are some articles about the making of the film with interviews and concept art that were released last week. I've ordered them from less to more exhaustive (more or less):

My feelings exactly. This sequel screams retread of the original. But I'm sure audiences and critics will eat it up nonetheless.

Actually, that trailer has got me a little more interested in the movie. I mean, I'm still not excited for it, but still.
It doesn't really help that the original has never been one of my favorites.

A Spanish trailer has been released. It has only a few new shots, but the funny part of the trailer is that the narrator appears to have a memory problem himself. Here's the trailer:

And here's a link to a translation of the trailer that a member of the Pixar Post Forum has provided, which is more or less accurate:

Here are also two new stills:

The end credits song will be performed by Sia and is a cover of Nat King Cole's 1951 song
Unforgettable. It debuted at
The Ellen Show:

I like that they are following the tradition set by
Finding Nemo of having a famous singer covering a classic song and the title fits the film very well, but I find it a bit slow for the end credits. What do you think of the song?
Here's also a promotional video with Ed O'Neil and Ty Burrell:

And new international posters:

Don't like it at all. Too slow, too poppish, and too dramatic

I kept waiting to see something better, but none of the marketing has impressed me one bit. I'll be pleasantly surprised if this isn't near the bottom of my ranking of Pixar films when I see it, maybe only above the Cars films.
I guess I never liked Finding Nemo as much as the masses anyway, but this still seems completely forced and unnecessary.

That crush clip has worried, it feels way too much like the first one. Also, ever since that movie sins video I can't help but get annoyed at the logic of marlin being the only one that has to hang on, when clearly everyone else just drifts along with no effort. And here they are doing that again.

So I see new footage from the trailers of this movie and ... yeah, it's starting to feel like a point-by-point ripoff of the first one.
Well, maybe "ripoff" is too harsh a word. But, honestly:
Main character gets captured by humans? Check
Sea turtle scene? Check.
Intense chase sequence with a glow-in-the-dark toy water creature? Check.
A stoic-seeming side character for the captured character to talk to? Check.
For goodness snake, the sea lions say "Off!" the same way the seagulls said "Mine!" in the first one. (I'm not the only one who made that parallel, right?)
I hope I don't sound bitter, I am not. Just... a little concerned now.

^Those are exactly my thoughts. This might still be great, but it sounds like the movie is copy and pasted from the first movie.

I am a freak for anything Disney and just can't get excited about this. I even have a 13 year old cat named Dory (from when the first movie was released). I will likely not see this in theaters. Not even sure why, just no interest.

^I feel the same. I think it's because it's clear the premise is a rehash of the original focusing on the sidekick. The Seaworld angle, whilst commendable, isn't exactly exciting either. Finding Nemo was great because of the amazing setting.
I'm sure I will enjoy it though.

What is the hype like among general audiences? I don't have too many animation fans or kids in my usual orbit, so I'm not sure what the general hype surrounding this movie is like. I mean, given how popular Finding Nemo was, it will no doubt be a big hit, but I've only heard a few people talk about it here and there. This thread is pretty dead (though to be fair, the Pixar threads are never really too active), and I feel like Disney hasn't been marketing it too heavily (though that probably has to do with them releasing a big blockbuster every month that they need to focus on).
Personally, I have liked the newer trailers a bit better. Still not hyped, but I actually have some interest in seeing it now. And I'd like to think that having Andrew Stanton in the director's chair will guarantee at least a certain level of quality.
Unfortunately, we have reached a point where I can't look forward to a Pixar film based on the brand name alone.... Too many misses in the last few years.

That's where I am. From now on, each new PIXAR film has to earn my movie money. I'm not going to give it away like I used to just because the film had the name "PIXAR" written on the top of the poster.
I've wondered if part of the problem is that Disney bought PIXAR, or if they were going to start running out of good ideas sooner or later anyway?
