Those last two would make excellent Blu-ray covers, in line with the Peter Pan artwork.
A bit more classy.

So I guess we've now seen the first glimpse of the new logo; the same text as before, but now a shimmering gold?
Keep re watching the trailer-evokes so many emotions! I'm ever so glad they used the original music instead of stock like some of the other Diamond trailers too...the worst is poor Cinderellas Diamond trailer.

getting nervous that the site, trailer, or TLM fb page never mentioned "3D" in the blu-ray announcement...

There's no mention of 3D in the new trailer. I guess that means we won't be getting a 3D Blu-ray.

That's what I though as well, but Frankenweenie was the same.

But
Frankenweenie was released in 3D in theaters so it was expected to be released on 3D Blu-ray. As for Mermaid, not only it's not getting a theatrical 3D re-release, we don't even know if the 3D conversion was even completed.

Omg, I spent so much time away I missed a lot of news and now I'm more exciting!
First of all, I love the new Little Mermaid's picture, that animation style it's gorgeous!
And the second thing, I found the trailer of The Little Mermaid in Youtube (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... cnAL5yT-38) and metion the "In 3D" almost at the end. So, I think that the 3D version will come next year and the material of the conversion will be use in the Blu.Ray 3D. [/url]

Okay, remember Lion King? The Blu-ray was announced first and the 3D theatrical release was announced a few months before its release.
Really, Disney. Don't screw us out of something you promised.

I am loving the Mermaid fever that is spreading! I can't wait, but still pray for a 3D Blu-ray release!

Can someone who's gone through the pictures from this link:
http://princess.disney.com/ariels-story give me the links to the different illustrations? Like, when you click on the arrow to go to the next illustration, does the link change to like
http://princess.disney.com/ariels-story-2 or something? Thanks for any help.

Not sure, but Jiminy Jaminy! The in-between transformation (Ursula to Vanessa) illustration is quite freaky!!
Anyhoo, if Mermaid WAS in fact canceled, Disney is going to have to make it up to us big time! Because just a 3D Blu-ray, let alone Blu-ray, isn't going to cut it! There are thousands- MILLIONS- of kids this generation who have yet to see it on anything but a stupid TV screen and for some reason, Disney wants to keep it that way.

Ariel got caught and was stuck on the front of a ship in Disneyland. I saw it on Wheel of Fortune this week as they were doing a Disney themed week.

The trailer does use the new restoration. I made here a comparison between the HDTV rip of the movie, which uses the 2006 restoration, only remastered in HD, and the new trailer. The colors are warmer in the new restoration. See for yourself:
This is the remastered 2006 transfer in HD
This is from the trailer
The first thing I noticed when I watched the trailer was Flounder's coloring. I didn't remember him being so warm-colored on the Platinum DVD. Anyways, the restoration looks gorgeous, and I cannot wait to see it on Blu-ray.

I'm putting this here cause
a) Yahoo has completely destroyed elements like grain structure and line work
b) I wanted the frames to match
- on the BD trailer we get slightly more picture
- is it a new restoration or is it just a different colour timing?
- the BD screenshot is sharper

I hope it ends up looking better than that! For God's sake, 'Alice in Wonderland' or 'Sleeping Beauty' looks a thousand times better than that and they're older films... If I remember correctly, in 2006, 'The Little Mermaid' wasn't restored by Lowry Digital Images and it ended up being the worst looking Platinum release.

I hope the trailer doesn't use the same transfer as the BD cause that looks awful! The grain makes it look so sloppy and old!
