Yeah, I can kind of see your point myself. After all, I never said that I was into every DTV sequel Disney has made. Sequels like Mulan II and Pocahontas II either felt, as you said, boring compared to the original, or just didn't captivate my interest enough, which is why I do have issue with Disney now forcing people to buy the original movies on Blu-Ray/DVD bundled with their sequels, when they should know that some people may not care for the sequels and just want to own the original.

I really take more offense on the term "cheapquels" when it's claiming that the animation is cheap, when to me it's never really been as cheap as people think. Below theatrical scale perhaps, and more on the scale of good TV animation, but not cheap.

Speaking of which, I'm sometimes baffed over the fanbase of "Simba's Pride" and how it's praised to be the superior Disney sequel. While I don't hate it, the screenplay is the worst part. The plotline (while done to death) yields premise, yet it's vaguely executed! Kiara is nothing but yet another Princess who's tired of her oppression and the film does nothing inventive with it! Her relationship with Kovu should've been expanded when they were cubs. It would've reasonated why she placed a tremendous amount of faith in him despite only have met him one time priorly. And that's despite actually witnessing Zira threatening her pride and telling that Kovu will be King.

Kiara is the epitome of self-absorption and recklessness! For all the flack Ariel (and Jasmine) gets for their ruthlessness, Kiara is way worse. She wants her way all the time and goes huge lenghts for getting her way. While Simba was as disobedient as a cub, at least he was ignorant of the hyenas being in the Elephant Graveyard. Kiara gets told that the Outlanders are murderous and backstabbing. She's nothing but a spoiled brat, which she proves when she snaps at Kovu for saving her. And horribly blinded by her crush on Kovu and siding with him when Simba gets injured! It's pretty baffling that she wises up during the end to the movie, despite acting like a brat. Sure, there are times where Simba were too overprotective to her, but Kiara's rebellion was still un-called for.

At least Zira showed signs of multi-dimensionality (she claimed to be emotionally hurt by Simba), but was vaguely developed. She mourns over Nuka, but at the end is willing to even kill her daughter! The same with Kovu. The only one who went through a logical arc was Vitani. A logical redeeming thing about this movie is that it dwells on how Simba is haunted by Scar's actions. But that's about it.

I remember that we got Sleeping Beauty's press release 3 months prior to the release date...

The outtakes are not even animated. Why didn't they animate them? It's not like the 2D animators at Disney have anything better to do, anyway.

I suppose it makes sense for them to not be in full colour, but they could have at least been a bit more animated than just a static storyreel...

Man that preview made Aladdin out to be some kind of sidekick or extra. I know they wanted to highlight Robbin but wow.

I think drawing storyboards for outtakes is a big effort in and of itself!

Maybe for us, but for a storyboard artist its nothing really. They do this all the time, most of it the public never gets to see. They animated those lion king bloopers a few years back, why not these?

How do we know these storyboards aren't from when the film was originally in production?

The drawings look too digital to have been drawn in the 90s if you ask me.

Yes, it's pretty obvious. This was even confirmed at the Aladdin panel at D23.

Goldberg pored through files and found the original artwork and voice recordings and then did new sketches to go along with Williams’ original tracks.

I don't understand why you ever expected them to animate it.. Disney is cheap when it comes to blu-ray releases, especially the diamond edition line releases.

Well, the initial Diamond releases were pretty extensive and filled with great extras, so while they have been cheap for a while now, they haven't always been that way. That said, I agree. There really isn't any reason to expect much from their Blu-ray releases judging from their recent track record. It's truly sad, but not surprising.

I'm really annoyed this never-before-heard song is a DMA exclusive. I just hope someone will eventually upload it on YouTube.

The animated bloopers for "The Lion King" weren't much to brag about in the first place. It looked quite cheap.

They were more than good enough for what they were and all I ask for out of something like this. The colors could have used some tweaking, but the animation itself was nice enough.

Speaking of that deleted Aladdin song... The Aladdin soundtrack have to get a proper/ultimate release featuring the entire Alan Menken score, cut songs and demos. Disney simply MUST expand their legacy collection and include Aladdin...
