Got my Blu+DVD today at Walmart and was able to use the $5 coupon. The lady said I think this coupon is for the combo pack and all I had to say was this IS a combo pack...see, you have the Blu and the DVD. LOL....gotta love the people at Walmart! :)

CampbellzSoup wrote:In the future you won't have access to coupons however, and while there is a what $2 difference between this and the standard blu ray and it comes with the DVD + Blu + Digital + 3D you pretty much never have to buy Tangeled again!
Ahh, would that I had your beliefs in that.

Anyhoo, my Target was selling through the Blu-ray versions like crazy, but I picked up the Golden Book exclusive Blu-ray / DVD one just because that one wasn't crammed into a plastic security case which wrinkles up the slipcover. And yes, they took my coupon despite it being for the four disc set.

So, uh, YMMV, but it's worth a go.

To those waiting for their Amazon order, here is a tip for next time: if you are a college student, you can enter your email and get one year of Amazon Prime free! I get all my stuff with free shipping and it comes within two days.

Have fun with Tangled everyone! Sadly, I have chosen not to buy it because I will only be watching it once and it would only sit on my shelf.

Someone at the Canadian distribution branch of Disney (somewhere in Toronto) needs to do better quality assurance before these combo packs hit the streets. I just popped in the DVD into my PC and am watching thru the previews. The sound is in english, but the text is in french. This isn't the first time it has happened.

Oh, and I puked in my mouth a little when I saw the trailer for Spooky Buddies. Are the producers of this crap aware what the term "trippin'" means? Good to see Disney pushing drug terms on kids now.

Tangled Blu-ray Review: The Movie Doesn't Disappoint, But the Blu-ray Does
http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/3 ... u-ray-does
It's not worth getting for the extras, unfortunately. Wow, these are a letdown. Let's see. We've got three mildly amusing deleted scenes with the directors explaining why they were cut. While not fascinating, it does explain why there's a fortunetelling monkey in the end credits. The disc also includes two alternate openings that would've used the traditional storybook framing device like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty did. I personally would preferred the second alternate opening over the Flynn voiceover one used in the film, but that's just me.

Then there's the '50th Animated Countdown', which is just a short clip going through all fifty Disney films in the Disney canon that appeared online when Tangled hit theaters. Two extended songs are included as well, though they're barely extended. More interestingly, though, is how the footage used is a work-in-progress reel, which also reveals that some of the hair was hand animated and then CGed over. I'd have loved to have gotten a picture-in-picture feature like this for the whole movie, as with The Princess and the Frog, but unfortunately, no luck there.

Next up is "Untangled: The Making of a Fairy Tale" a 12-minute making-of hosted by Zach Levi and Mandy Moore obviously aimed at the kiddies. It's really watered down, offers almost no information, and half the time is spent asking the audience questions and waiting for them to respond, à la Dora the Explorer. Irritating. Rounding out the disc are a bunch of Tangled teasers, many which use original animation, so it's nice to see those included, and some ads for other Disney products. The Blu-ray also includes a DVD copy of the disc which has the two alternate storybook openings. That's it.

Where did they go wrong? The Princess and the Frog, a movie Disney considers a flop, gets a director commentary, decent featurettes and a picture-in-picture in-progress version of the film. Tangled, the more successful of the two, doesn't get any of those. And with Tangled's long and troubled history, there is so much to draw on.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, and my copy hasn't arrived yet, but I remember seeing a picture somewhere of the Tangled Blu-ray discs and the 3D version had a big "Disney 3D" logo on it, I guess so that people wouldn't get confused and complain to Disney when the 3D disc "wouldn't work" in their 2D player or whatever.

My question is, does the regular Blu-ray have a big "Disney Blu-ray" logo on it? If so, do both the 2D and 3D combo packs have the same regular Blu-ray, with the same disc art/giant logo?

Its the same Blu-ray in both combo packs. Both have a big Disney Blu-ray logo on them.

Thanks! I figured that was probably the case, since I doubt Disney would print 2 different kinds of art for the same disc.

My Amazon order did say to expect my package between the fourth and the eighth, but now that it shipped it says to expect it tomorrow! :o I already got the Fantasia set as part of the $10 off deal way back in February. :D

yeah the extras are shit. For a production that spanned 10+ years, you'd think this would had tons of stuff to provide. Typical Disney being dicks again.

I figure they know it will sell well enough without the effort. Oh well, I'm still anxious to see the actual movie again.

No problem! If you're alreay an eBay shopper, it's a great way to get $8 towards your next purchase for free. :) Luckily, I had $10 Groupon Bucks for referring a friend to a previous offer, so I got the deal for free!

I think they wanna forget about the $200 million+ decade of nightmares and just get to selling them dolls and blu-rays asap.

And I'm giving them a pass. They made a great film and I believe we will eventually learn more about the movie's troubled past at some point in the future when people have moved on. That's how it usually goes anyway.

For those that missed out on the plushes at Best Buy call/check today. I checked online stock this morning when I got up, and it showed as available. I called when they opened, and they had 1 left. Thankfully they held it for me. You just need the receipt (don't have to return the movie).

Well, I managed to get this movie along with Black Swan today. Lemme tell you how it went. First off, I saw a bin for Tangled, where I thought I'd find the regular 2-disc pack, but that bin was empty.

So, I went to the back of the store to see if they had the 4-disc pack, but they didn't. I was thinking they must have sold out the combo packs already. But luckily, I found the two-disc pack with the Little Golden book in the toy section.

Overall, that's how I managed to find the combo pack before my 11 o' clock class. Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta get to my next class which starts in eight minutes.

So, the BluRay had THAT meager a set of bonus features... and Disney STILL managed to cut THAT down for the dvd?

I don't know what to do. Purchase it now, as I really want to own the movie on dvd? Or hold out until a new edition comes out in the feature with better extra features? That may take eight years and all the *good* features will be reserved for Blu-only... Tough choice.

Rent it from redbox and watch it until you get sick of it.
