I just love to see what Disney do with their classics on Bluray.
That's why I wish Fantasia would just hurry up and be out.
Sleeping Beauty & Snow White were immaculate.
And appreciative people i've shown have commented how amazing the picture looks, "like it was made yesterday" one said.
most other movies from now on I get on bluray purely for the fact that i'm used to the best now.
So say something like Harry Potter comes out, I get the bluray cos its the best at the time and usually has something more to offer than the poor dear sad old DVD.
Price doesn't concern me, but maybe it does other people.
Everything just looks better on bluray on my newish TV, so i'm just used to it now

Can we keep this on topic please? I'd rather talk about Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 re-releases than a DVD vs Blu-ray debate or or a discussion about either format. This thread is about Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 and not the formats.

...um, that's what I said...
Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 are being released on BluRay and i'm excited.
I have it on VHS, and various DVDs, but i'd much rather see it on bright crisp BluRay all fixed up.
So hurry up Fantasia and get released in a crisp new restored format.
the DVD looks like blurry nothing to me now since seeing the bluray releases of Snow White/Sleeping Beauty so of course Fantasia will look amazing...on BLURAY.
I'll get the DVD that comes with the BluRay combo pack, but I may as well use it as a drinks coaster as it won't look as good as what it will on Bluray.
Fantasia, on Bluray, lovely.

I just want it to come out because none of my VCRs work and all I have is the VHS and I don't feel like wasting money on the DVD when the blu ray is so close to release. I think this is the movie that ruined my VCR because I used to watch this all the time a couple of years ago when I went to bed and I always left it on loop.

How do you put a VCR on a loop?

I just had to pop in the video, turn on the movie, and press the "play" button one time while the movie was playing and it'd say "repeat on".

I remember my original VHS got wedged in there and it could never be rewound. So luckily I "borrowed" my nans VHS copy and still have that somewhere.
the DVD version was so amazing to me I noticed so many more things.
so just imagine what the bluray will do. ooh.
but yeah get the combo pack and have the dvd in there for old times sake.

Hey guys - just letting you all know that 'UP' was released in the U.K today, and it did NOT contain any trailer for Fantasia. I'm so gutted, I was really expecting it to be there

since it was released on the U.S BD Live with UP, does this mean Disney have changed their plans?
Although Dumbo is being released March 22nd here, maybe it will be on that? Could be in time for a May release

Fantasia is poised for a December release in the US, and it will probably be around that time that we'll also get it in the UK. Trailer or no trailer, it shall come.

Now we just wait for the Q&A results. I really do hope that we don't have to wait until December for these films. That would suck. A lot. The end.

Could someone post when the results are in so we know? Thanks

I was at the panel discussions last night and one of the panelists said it will be on bluray in November

If it only comes in a DVD-BluRay combo pack, I'll have to go through the trouble of ritually burning the BluRay.

Man why do you have to be like that, i mean seriously?
why are be so bitter about bluray.
Disney has been bending over backwards in giving all consumers both dvd and bluray versions of the majority of there releases.
and not charging extra for it.
And its not like Fantasia hasnt been on DVD before allready.

Umm, why? Blu-Ray is the chosen successor to DVD, if you hate Blu-Ray that much your just going to have to deal with it if your ever going to see a movie in the future.

Hmmm... that seems illogical.
If you love Disney films why would you not love a vastly improved version of them that comes with the version you buy? Even if you don't have a Blu-ray player now, you likely will at some point. They are already available in the $100 range quite often.
I would be very surprised if your next DVD player is not also a Blu-ray player, unless you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

November?
I doubt they'd do Beauty And The Beast in October
then
Fantasia in November.
I'm sticking to a June/July/August release.
Tim's Alice is out then, Prince Of Persias at the movies,
Everyone loves to watch a bit of a bluray/DVD during your US summer
holidays.
It's obviously not May cos I would already know by now.
End of year makes no sense.
So let's all hope it's June/July/August.
A friend of mine in Japan did tell me though that, for no real reason,
they're getting that SideShow Collectibles Chernabog on the 25th of
November 2010.
It's been out in the US since last year, so odd that they're releasing it in Japan on such an oddly specific date.
It better not be cos thats when Fantasia is out.
Bring it out NOW Disney, quick sticks.
AND in any country mind you,
I don't care where its released as i'll by buying it regardless.
Language barrriers don't concern me.
