Just thinking of something.
The entire 'Ursula is Tritons sister blabla' thing.

According to tLM it's not possible.
- In the beginning Morgana said 'my sister', not 'our sister' referring to the fact that Ursula isn't a sister of Triton.
- She always said that her mother liked Ursula over her, but nothing of Triton

The deleted song also shows that their mother was a cecaelia, and the fact that Triton is a merman is rather 'strange' for them to be brother and sister, and there is also no little Red (the series) on the picture.

So, the discussion is closes, they are not related.

Psst! You know the idea was dropped, right??

Besides, sequels very often forget to acknowledge some material from the original.


Another point I want to make, so what if she didn't say "Our sister"? When I talk to my sister about my mom, I don't say "Where's our mom?" I just ask "Where's mom?"

And another reason she could have said "MY" sister is because... well, let's take a look at the family album, there clearly was a drift between Triton and Ursula/Morgana. It could have very well been like a disownment thing, like "She's MY sister because we are no longer family because your son-in-law killed her, blah blah blah"

You're acting as if the musical (or anyone, in that case) acknowledges Morgana's existence. I, personally, don't consider the two related when I watch the original film, but I don't think using its sequel (created by entirely new people with no consideration to the original's intentions) to dispute that is going to work.

Still, when I first heard that little tidbit on TLM PE, I wondered if maybe that's why Ursula and Triton's facial structures and body types are so similar.

I actually consider TLM to have three almost entirely different universes.

The first is the trilogy-universe, or the movies. That includes the original, the sequel and the prequel. The second is the television series-universe, which includes the the original film, TLM2, and the television series as a prequel. There are direct references made between the characters in the sequel to the series. The last is the Broadway show. It clearly has a separate storyline and plot, it's just its own form of storytelling.

So when I watch any of the movies, I only consider the three films- sometimes the series. I used to take the canon very seriously, but since TLM3 ripped that up... oh well.

Could somebody please upload the changed scenes to youtube?

Its so unfair, but in Belgium, this DVD was never released so we never got to see these wonderfull changes...

Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, checking goofystitch's posts to see the changes (gumby17 posted pictures from the original release, goofystitch posted the changes for 2 of the shots).

I know, I saw the shots during the release, but I never saw it moving.

You know, it's not the one shot they redid, I hope, it's the scene... That I want to see. Especially the changin scene of ariel.

Does the boxed set have the extra features of the individual movies? (that is the DVD version) I've heard some of the boxed sets don't come with the features like the singles do.

Is it even worth buying this set if I and II, and perhaps III would be released on Bluray?

The boxed set contains the only release there is of TLM: Ariel's Beginning.

It contains the re-release of TLM 2 and the Platinum Edition of TLM.

Thus, no features are lost by buying the boxed set.

These DVDs are 100% identical to their original release.

With how slow Disney is getting their classics to Blu-ray, coupled with the fact Disney is trying to put their sequel-crazy past behind them, we can safely assume that none of the sequels will ever be on Blu (and if they are, that is several years out...)

Thus, buy the boxed set.

You get the Platinum Edition of TLM (which is superior to its original 'Limited Issue/Gold Collection' release and you get the re-release of TLM II (which has a slightly better transfer, some re-animated bits, and a deleted scene not on the original release).

All in all, you are getting the best currently released version of TLM/TLMII and the only version of Ariel's Beginning.

AB and TLM 2 probably won't ever be released again, and seeing as TLM got its Platinum in 2006 - it'll be several years until the TLM Blu.

I say get the boxed set. It is most likely the last release TLM 2 and AB will ever see, and as for TLM itself - this release will probably be it for another couple of years (I'd say anywhere from 2 to 5 years).

Plus, you get three postcard sized lithographs inside!

Yer The Little Mermaid along with it's two sequels were vaulted in January 2009 However you may still be able to find brand new copies of the boxset if you shop around, however I would try and get it as soon as possible because seeing as it's been OOP for over a year now prices will begin to rise to the ridiculous soon!

Neal, could i ask what boxset you are referring to ? The one in the UK only had the old version of TLM II .... where do you think would be the best place to get hold of a copy of the Special Edition in the UK ?

Ah, thank you for responding ! We do have the exact same boxset in R2, but it does not have the Special Edition of TLMII.

As a devoted fan of TLM and the spin offs, do you think it is worth importing this release for the new scenes ? I mean not the whole boxset, but just the Special Edition ?

Not really, basically a little bit was re-animated such as Ariel's sisters in the final scene of TLM2 to be more on-model.

The deleted scene isn't ... that cool, anyways.

It is a 'villain song' for Morgana.

The transfer is crisper/brighter.

But, I don't think it's worth $20 to $30 for a second copy of TLM2.

Just checked about importing from amazon.co.uk ... its around £50 !!! I dont really think its worth that much .... !
