Beautifully stated. That's exactly the gist of why I originally said it was selfish to think of the Treasures as "collector's items" that shouldn't be more widely available. It's not as though Disney doesn't want people to buy them, so they certainly would be available in greater quanitities if they were more popular.

Ok Ok I understand. Most of you disagree with me....which is fine. Im just sharing how I feel about it and I appreciate you all doing the same. Some of you made a good point and I agree that if they would decide to release a bare bones Theatrical version only DVD release then I see no problem with that. Anyway, Im not going to comment any further as in reality I dont think this is even worth debating. I would be really surprised to see what is being suggested here happen, but should it then I will pick up on my debate at that time. haha

I'm all for the repackaging the WDT-line for the non-collectors. What sets the collector's editions from the non of course would be the tin and the coa, as well as the art/booklet, everything else wouldn't matter.

The only reason we are getting exclusive dvds through DMC is b/c they know that the consumer can get the dvds cheaper at a brick/mortar store than the prices they charge on their website, minus the initial offer and discounts. It's only a matter of time till those discs come out to the mass public. Heck, have you seen how many "A Mom for Christmas" discs on eBay are going for right now? Does DMC still revoke membership when they track down which member is selling the dvd through location matching w/their database?

I think more people would buy the treasures if

A) There were more of them available

and

B) They actually advertised them

I mean how many people actually know about the Treasures who *don't* visit this site or other websites with info on them? Back in the days of wave 1 I knew nothing about these until I recieved Mickey Mouse In Living Color Vol. 2 for a present. If Disney wants these to sell better they need to actually suck it up and advertise them otherwise a limited amount of people would know about them.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing early waves put out again, if they were in original Treasures packaging (same case, tin etc.) the only difference would be that there isn't a Collectors number which is fine with me as long as I have them.

I definitley agree with the first statement, Chernabog.

I want Donald 4, but I only have 1, and I would like to buy the next two before the fourth, and by the time that happens, 4 will most likely be out of print. I hope that made sense.

I was at Sam's Club yesterday -- they had two copies of Dr. Syn. I of course bought Dr. Syn day and date. Knowing how it was escalating in price, I could have snatched up both of these copies, and held on to them for a year or so and made a nice profit on E*Bay.

But I didn't.

Because I remember when Wave 1 came out, and I was on another board, and people were gloating about how they were snatching up multiple copies to sell later and gouge people.

See, Walt made these movies to be seen and enjoyed. By buying copies you don't intend to watch, you're cheating people and exploiting them.

So I left the copies of Dr. Syn -- for someone who wants them, and someone who wants to enjoy them. I wish all of Walt's films were available to everyone. I'm happy to have what I have. But I wish everyone else could share the same.

I checked out Amazon marketplace. Dr. Syn is going for as low as $65 and as high as $149.99

It doesn't really make sense. Honestly don't do what I did and wait, I made the mistake of not buying Tomorrow Land, MM in B&W Vol. 2, . etc. because I didn't have others before it, I had to search long and hard and all I've gotten is the Mickey one.

Anways point of the ramble is if you see it and have the money BUY IT you will kick yourself later and it will save you tons of searching time later on (and money).

I'm talking about finding them in stores, probably easy to find them online through Amazon, DMC etc. if you have the money and your able to purchase things online.

I truely think the market for the Dr.Syn DVD is being manipulated by speculators. It's like most of the copies were hijacked before they got to the stores so they could be auctioned on ebay. I've been almost every store in syracuse today and none of them even recall ever having a copy of "Dr. Syn".

I guess in the future I'll have to pre-order from Amazon.

I think this is quite simple: If you think you want the Treasures just buy/order them immediately. To me they are pretty much the most important DVD release of the year (any year), so I'm never in doubt.

I'm normally out there on day-1 of the release, but I got distracted this year and forgot the release date.

I found a copy of Dr. Syn at FYE. I had to pay list price, but it is a bargain compared to ebay.

How does FYE stay in business? Doesn't everyone know their prices are the highest to be found?

By helping my neighbor financially last year at Christmas time, I almost missed out on last year's installments. I did get them all though (thank goodness!) by checking video stores, warehouse clubs (great source in my area) & department stores.

In my opinion, in addition to high prices, I dislike shopping at FYE because of their "save __mail in rebate" program. Stupid idea!

Glad you found Dr. Syn!

I agree that FYE is the last place I would buy a new release price-wise. The reason I visit them is to check their used DVDs and CDs. There are many occasions where I got out of print titles used there for a steal compared to what I would have had to pay online - and with the ability to examine the discs before purchase. Perhaps the "used" angle helps them attract customers.

Also, they often have titles available new that are recent OOP or newly "vaulted" for a longer period of time than other stores.

WOW just looked on Amazon. The only volume still available for purchase is the Annette Serial! Donald is now out of stock too!

I learned a long time ago to pre-order these. Even as an investment they have been worth it.

So far I've only missed on the Davy Crockett, and since I have the other version I don't mind at all.

On the one hand I don't get those who complain about the limited prints. On the other I don't get those who don't want Disney to re-release them, or to release them as something else.

If you wanna complain, put your money where your mouth is, and do it directly with Disney.

Regarding price gouging: It's a free market. I don't get why you complain about it, either. Nobody owes you anything, and the price will go as high as the market will support. The solution is: pre-order them when they get announced.

I also don't think the tins are worth it. If anyone is interested in my tins, drop me a line.
