Maybe they're gonna piece the old one an the new one together. Or they make Roy Disney say the things for the first one again, just together with Canemaker in the same little black room.

I'm sorry, I can't be bothered to read all 18 pages of this, but why why why is this beng released? I didn't think Peter Pan was even part of the platinum collection and that the last two to make up the series would be The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations.

I was gutted when I saw the advert for Peter Pan on The Little Mermaid dvd, I want The Jungle Book!! Plus, having thought that Peter Pan wasn't going to be released again for a fair while, I shelled out for an old copy on eBay.

So, can we presume The Jungle Book will be out in October and 101 Dalmations March 2008? Or are Disney going to muck about with their release shedule again. I wouldn't be too surprised if this October saw a 70th anniversary edition of Snow White instead. Bah.

The current release list - as well as the four Classics that have been added to the PE-line - can be found here.

101 Dalmations not until 2009? I'm going to buy Disney and sort this mess out.

Wal-Mart's website actually helped clear up a couple of things. For one, it finally revealed who's singing "The Second Star to the Right" for the music video: some band called T-Squad. It also revealed that the "Tink's Fantasy Flight" thing is actually a game and that the virtual flying thing is a screensaver called "The London Skyline." So with these in mind, here's what should be the most complete list we've got on this release so far no thanks to Disney themselves.

Disc One:

Aspect ratio: 1.33:1 – the aspect ratio in which the film was originally created.
All-New 5.1 Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix
Dolby® Digital 5.1 Surround Sound
French 5.1 Surround Soundtrack
Spanish 5.1 Surround Soundtrack
Fastplay Enabled

Bonus Materials
- Audio Commentary by Roy Disney, John Canemaker, and others
- Disney Song Selection
- "The Second Star to the Right" Music Video Performed by T-Squad (3 minutes)
- Sneak Peak: The Tinkerbell Movie (2 minutes)

Disc Two:

Backstage Disney
* "The Walt Disney Christmas Show" Television Special (59 minutes)
* "You Can Fly: The Making of Peter Pan" Featurette (16 minutes)
* "In Walt's Words: 'Why I Made Peter Pan'" Featurette (8 minutes)
* "The Peter Pan That Almost Was" Featurette (21 minutes)
* "The Magic of a Fairy" Featurette (8 minutes)
* "The Peter Pan Story" Promotional Featurette (12 minutes)
* Art Gallery? (I'm getting worried about this one)
* Theatrical Trailer? (This, too)

Music and More (all of this can also be under "Deleted Scenes" instead)
* "Never Land" Lost Song
*** Introduction (3 minutes)
*** "Never Land" Lost Song Performed by Paige O'Hara (3 minutes)
* "The Pirate Song" Unreleased Song (2 minutes)

Games and Activities
* "Peter's Playful Prank" Storybook
* "The London Skyline" Magical Environment Screensaver
* "Camp Never Land" Set Top Games
*** "Smee-Doku Challenge"
*** "T-'argh'-et Practice"
*** "Tink's Fantasy Flight"

The picture at Wal-Mart's site is just blurry enough that I can't read the words, but clear enough to know there are words, otherwise we'd know how many minutes the store-exclusive disc is...

Image

Based on the site's description, here's what I think the front of the case says...

Approx. #0 Minutes - I'd guess that's either 30 or 50 minutes, though 50 seems a bit much...

Exclusive Feature:
-Making Of 'The Second Star To The Right' music video with T-Squad (which on the site apparently stands for "Truth Squad"

Also Featuring Activities and (what's this word?):
-"Fairies" Profile Game - Which Fairy are you most like?
-"Tinkerbell's World" - Fairy profiles
-4 "Fairies" Storybook Read Alongs
-Pirate Treasure Hunt Game
-Read Along: "Neverland's New Hero" Read Along

And these two aren't mentioned on the case, but on the site:
-Featurette
-Music Videos

If the featurette is worth it, and the music videos include at least one or two of the GOOD covers, then I might pick it up. Otherwise the two-disc would be enough for me.

Jungle Book is going to be coming out in October 2007, probably just in time for its 40th anniversary. You can bet your bottom dollar that they will have that label on the cover, just as Lady and the Tramp had that 50th anniversary tag.

T-Squad? Is that the group with the atrocious "Vertical" song on Disney Channel right now? I can only imagine how they will butcher that grand song.
The rest of the features sound good, though.
YAY for Paige O'Hara!!

"Stories"- referring to the Read-Alongs.

The PP 2-Pack looks pretty good, so I might pick up that. If it's not so hot, I'll just get the regular 2-Disc set.

In other words: a promo featurette for a promo featurette. I look forward to Exclusive bonus disc content like:

* The making of the making of "The Second Star to the Right" music video.

* The making of the menu

* The making of the "Which Fairy Are you?" game.

etc

Does anyone know what trailer(s) will be there? I have a hunch if there's just one, it will probably be the original from '53.

Yeah, I agree with you. Way back in this thread I predicted that we'd only get the theatrical trailer. Disney only seems to include re-issue trailers if they appeared already on the laserdisc version. The only exception has been Beauty and the Beast, which included not only the IMAX trailer, but four TV spots, as well. Besides that, though, Disney seems lazy in looking for trailers beyond what was already included on their laserdiscs. I'd really like to see Peter Pan's re-issue trailers included, especially those from the 80s, but I doubt that'll happen.

That's not necessarily true. The LATT PE contains three trailers, one from its initial release in '55 and the other two from its reissues in 1971 and Christmas of '86, respectively. But as for Peter Pan, I guess one trailer is better than no trailers at all.
