Yes, I remember saying a few pages back that that was the only poster I've thought was legitimately good so far. And unlike the other posters that are darkly lit in a calculated way to hide flaws, the shipwreck scene itself is supposed to be dark. Interesting to see the comparison.

@Duster: I think I've seen other mermaid stories where merfolk cry pearls. Otherwise, they wouldn't feel the tears on their faces to know they're there like humans would.

@Mooky: D82 already posted that on page 156. You must have missed it.

I saw a commercial that Halle Bailey will be on American Idol, performing "Part of Your World," I expect.

I plan to see it for that.

‘The Little Mermaid’ left Halle Bailey ‘tired’ and ‘isolated.’ And she thanked God for it
Throughout the lonely, lengthy shoot, Bailey found on-set support in McCarthy and Benson, who makes a cameo in a scene set on land. “She told me how proud she was of me and how I’m handling everything, and encouraged me to just go for it,” Bailey said of Benson. “I appreciate her for being so warm and welcoming to me because she’s the GOAT, and it was important to me to get her stamp of approval.”

Divinity, that pearls thing is interesting, but I am glad the Disney versions of Ariel have her crying wet tears, and she just realizes what they feel like on land. Like you suggested.

Kyla Pratt (who played Penny from The Proud Family) was attacked for dressing too casually to the TLM event.

Well, to give my thoughts about the latest clips: At least Awkwafina as Scuttle is fun enough, but Sebastian looks too jarringly out of place. He looks so generic in a way that he truly doesn`t blend with the rest of the film. Hopefully he and Flounder won`t look too distracting in the actual movie. As for the brief clips of the songs: At least Under the Sea sounds good enough, but Kiss the Girl sounds disappointing. It feels downgraded from it`s predecessor.

Don`t know if you`ve seen the reactions yet: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie ... 235482583/

He's clearly a little resentful, but I can't blame him. Aladdin made over a billion and was received well by audiences. Its sequel got stuck in development hell for some peculiar reason while sequels to less successful Disney movies had no problem moving forward.

Well, a little resentful maybe, but he ain't wrong. Aladdin was a great film whereas they trashed this property, and I do think it's unlikely to hit a billion (could turn out to be wrong, of course). A sequel would simply be out of pity, since they generally don't suit fairytales which is why they passed on one with B&tB. Aladdin is unique in that it's rich enough of a story to fill sequels.

Mena Massoud has deleted his entire Twitter account because the online mob was trying to cancel him over this!

Poor guy. People these days are monsters. They're just taking their aggression over the fact TLM sucks out on him. Blame the filmmakers for changing 70% of it.

I feel bad for him, the TLM 23 Twitter stans are rabid and he didn’t deserve hate. But I don’t think it was wise for him to be that salty in public about another Disney movie when an Aladdin sequel could always be revived.

Trying to "be wise" about what you say online assumes that the internet is fair in its discourse to begin with. Social media always offers a modicum of admiration for a well-worded takedown, whether or not it is deserved and whatever the cost to the person involved. You can be perfectly sensitive in your dialogue, but if the internet wants to read something into your words that you're not actually putting there, you can't really do anything about it. No doubt his detractors have convinced themselves that haranguing a POC actor over his honest opinion about a movie (that might fully end up being mediocre) is somehow advancing racial equality.

I also couldn't help but notice this twitter user who responded to Massoud coming this close to self-awareness

Oh I agree with you, PatchofBlue. I mean it’s unwise because Disney might not like his tweets and recast him if a sequel is made.
