Can you blame people for being freaked out?
Though, this is not nearly as devastating as it was in 2004.
Well, Semaj, we had every right to be freaked out back then. Because we thought the "death" of hand-drawn was permanent.

Well, I will say that hand-drawn can't die, for a reason being that one of the most legendary animators (even though he's not from Disney), named Ralph Bakshi is saving hand-drawn by finishing Last Days of Coney Island and he is with the help of people from Kickstarter. Even John Kricfalusi is in progress of doing a George Liquor hand-drawn short.

Anybody else wondering when John Lasseter is going to give a statement in regards to Bob Iger's answer? Being his department, I'm surprised we haven't heard a peep from him since the shareholder's meeting.

You mean admit defeat? Don't hold your breath... Disney Consumer Products has his balls.
In a blender.

Why would Lasseter respond? There's nothing to debunk here. Iger told the truth. There are indeed no hand-drawn features in development at this time.

So, I'm guessing that new Mickey Mouse/Roger Rabbit movie will be CGI?

I don't think there will be one at all. The chances of such a project being produced are slim to none.

Well, I'm aware of that. But since this was a man trumpeting Disney's return to hand-drawn animation a couple of years back and considered a supporter of it, I would like to hear him say why there are no features currently in development. He could give a bulls--t reason, but I still want to hear what he would say.

Perhaps a reporter will ask him about it when he'll be doing press for MU.

It's just not fair! I'm starting to hate Bob Iger even more. Okay I'll try not to say any death threats or other threat jokes. But I do that because I'm mad at him. To me, I think it's his fault for lack of hand drawn movies. When he announce it, I'd bet the fans booed at him. If I was the CEO of Disney, I fix this problem. Bring back hand drawn and get rid tween sitcoms. I know we have Paperman and we have hand drawn animated shorts starring Mickey Mouse coming, but I want to see Disney to do another hand drawn movie. People are stupid ignoring The Princess & the Frog. I want it to be a success, but when I heard the news that it was underperformed, I was so upset, I didn't know what to say. Since Bob Iger might end his run as CEO for the next 2 or 3 years, I suggest we vote Roy P. Disney son of Roy E. Disney or Kathleen Kennedy which I hear she supports hand drawn. But right now, this is the saddest day of my life.

First off, you have absolutely no concept of how a business is run, do you? To focus all the blame on one man, Bob Igar, is immensely idiotic. He's not the reason, or rather he's only a very small margin of the reason, why there is a low interest in hand-drawn animation. If you really want to blame or have to blame someone for the decision making, blame it on the stock holders. Stock holders are the real power holders of a company. A CEO is mostly an executive head runner of the business. Their job is to over see the company and maintain it's process. Majority of the business decisions making comes from the stock holders because it's their money that is in the interest of the company to begin with. But the factor isn't just the stock holders but the marketing department, the general populate consumers, and so on.
Bob Igar, actually did some amazing things for the company as the buying of Marvel and Star Wars not only a genius marketing move for the company, but also a genius move for the fans of said franchise. Prior to Marvel being bought out, Marvel was having financial troubles and their business wasn't running as strong. Now they're on such an amazing run with great things happening such as the Marvel Cinematic universe Marvel Studios is doing. In Star Wars' case, we might actually get some good stuff for star wars that Lucas was too stubborn or stupid to do like actual releases of the original trilogy's original release.
If you were CEO, you would ruin the company. I would guarantee you that, especially considering you don't know how a business is run, and that you would on run the company by your own personal nostalgia rather than smart business decision-making, that you would run this company down.

Correct. And we should we wary of clinging on to any one individual, be it Kathleen Kennedy or someone else, to be the messiah that resurrects traditional animation. It will only lead to disappointment. Even Lasseter, perhaps the most respected man in animation today, and who explicitly spoke of his hopes of bringing back traditional animation has failed thus far.
We'll probably have to wait until 2015 at the earliest, to see how the hand-drawn elements in R&J's new film, be it variants of the Paperman technique or otherwise, to see how it goes. It also doesn't help that no other animation studio is doing traditional animation at the moment.

Expand your horizons beyond Disney (and beyond our shores) and you will find many excellent hand-drawn (some traditional, some digital) films are being produced:

Fine. You made your point, but still want to see Disney to get hand drawn feature in the future, even though that John Lasseteer is a coward.

Not saying it's his fault, but he's a coward.

Doug Walker had this to say on Facebook regarding Disney having no plans to make 2D animation films
Doug Walker wrote:
Sad news: Disney has announced they no longer have plans to make any more hand drawn animated films. I adore hand drawn animation and how far Disney has pushed it over the years. Their art has been a large part of many childhoods, including my own, showing us how to convey great stories, great characters, and great art through animation. They have helped us grow, learn, and imagine beyond what we thought we could imagine. I connect these words to the end of any great artistic phenomenon, "I'll be back when you call me, no need to say good bye.

Maybe it's for the best. It's not as if Disney has been that great since the 21st century came around. Even TP&TF (which I liked) was far from perfect. It is too bad though.

How am I going to survive without hand drawn? It's not fair! It's the end of the world!

And please, don't make fun of me when I'm getting upset or emotional! I am friggin serious! You guys making fun of me is going to make my drama king behavior even worse.

I still cannot for the life of me understand how "we have no traditional films in development as far as I know" has turned into "Disney will no longer be making traditional films."
