Just seen on Mae Whitman's wiki page (not accurate usually I know), but she is listed as being Tink in Jake and the Neverland Pirates in 2013 ! I didn't know they had a crossover !

Yeah, but they've already been in their prime. Hiddleston is at the height of his career so far.

Tom has popped up in other bits and bobs, but his huge deal is only Thor/Avengers etc . . . not groundbreaking. Massive success yes, but he isn't really known for anything else is he ?

And Michael Sheen! He's an amazing actor too!

The information on wiki must be fake. I've searched for the episodes they're listing as Whitman voicing Tink, "A Visit to the Fairies" and "Izzy's Birthday", and couldn't find a single credible source.

Incidentally, Tink is making an appearance on Jake and the Never Land Pirates for the first time in a TV special titled "Never Land Rescue" which airs on September 29. But Tink doesn't talk in that one; she just jingles as expected. Here's a clip featuring Tink if you're interested.

A webpage called Pixie Party that features the redesigned fairies has gone live. We're finally been given a reason behind the fairies' new outfits. I'd be great if they'd made this into a short or a TV special.



In other news, someone who attended the animation presentation at the D23 expo says they showed images of James and he looks a bit like Hiddleston.

Do you think The Pirate Fairy could become the first in the series to get a theatrical release in the U.S? With Captain Hook, the pirate theme, and the popularity of Tom Hiddleston, it's a possibility. Lasseter said DisneyToon Studios is changing focus towards theatrical releases as the home video market is declining.

Q: And then there’s the direct-to-DVD market, which the previous version of Disneytoon Studios concentrated on. Is that still the main focus there?

John Lasseter: Disneytoon Studios was started a number of years ago to feed into the direct-to-video market, but as the home video sales have continued to decrease rapidly we are looking at the evolution of the studio going more theatrical. With Disneytoon Studios we start from the beginning by thinking of it as a series in a world — it’s a continuation: the Tinkerbell films, and now with Planes, inspired from the world of Cars, but with airplane characters … You really have to spend time upfront to make sure the world is robust enough and interesting enough to be able to hold many different stories.

Q: On that subject, we saw a lovely clip of The Pirate Fairy. Why is it going straight to video?

John Lasseter: At Disney Toon Studios we produce direct-to-video movies, but there are many countries that don't have that market, in some regions it will be released in theatres. My secret plan is to make them so good they can be released in theaters. Planes began as a direct-to-video film. But we kept working on it until it became as good as Cars . We showed an audience samples and they loved it, so we decided to release it in theaters.

Of course, he could just be talking about the Planes franchise and not the Disney Fairies one. Planes was more successful than Secret of the Wings in the UK and other territories where the latter was released theatrically.

The spin-off to Cars was made by DisneyToon Studios, as opposed to Pixar, and achieved £1.7m from 507 sites. This marks a more successful launch than DisneyToon's last release, Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings, which made £528,820.

However, on the official Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies Facebook pages it says: "The film is available to own Spring 2014".

Eugh - it's annoying when he says Plans is just so good they released it in cinemas...the Fairys films are just as good !! In my opinion anyway I guess....

I guess from the figures posted, but I don't feel that is fair. Planes got WAY more coverage that Tink ever did - was promoted aggressively, huge tie-ins...was promoted and released as a theatrical feature with prime run times in the cinema. Tink had morning showings at my cinema and that was it. Yes, I am glad it even got to the cinema, but I don't think Disney can fairly compare 'SOTW' to Planes 1.

Hell, would it have even mattered if Planes was even successful or not ? The sequel was well under way before the first was released, no ?

I believe they worked on 'Tinker Bell' and 'Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure' at the same time too...

I didn't even think of the comparisons to CGI Wendy; this time they have got it spot on.

But I was always okay with Wendy's design as 'Tinker Bell' takes place a few years before 'Peter Pan'. And I still think Tinker Bell and Periwinkle were born of Michael's laugh...

If her mother hasn't have said "What is it Wendy?" I wouldn't have known for sure it was her. Would like to have thought so, but wouldn't have recognised her.

And that's an excellent theory about Tink and Periwinkle's creation!
