Surprisingly, I liked this. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t gaga over it, but I enjoyed it. I’d read Joy annoyed some people, and I get why, but I think she was supposed to be annoying when she was trying to control everything (although she had good intentions). I didn’t like the human designs--especially disappointing, since I liked most of the humans in TS3--and I didn’t care about Bing Bong. I hadn’t read full spoilers, but I already knew about him. For some reason I thought he’d be a silent character, so imagine my surprise when he has the most annoying voice ever. The actor didn’t overdo it like he usually does though, so he didn’t get on my nerves like he could have.

I agree about the human designs. The designs of the emotions were pretty good, but the human designs were just very bland. I also felt they could have done a bit better with some of the "workers" inside the mind. They were just like... jelly beans or something, which was kind of boring.

I thought Richard Kind gave a pretty good, nuanced performance as Bing Bong though. I mostly didn't find him annoying. As for Joy, the "annoying" was definitely part of her character--she was an overly positive, neurotic control freak (basically, she was just Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation, but it worked well). I wasn't particularly annoyed by her though, and I think it was necessary to have her character be like that considering the arc that they gave her.

I watched Inside Out recently for my second viewing, first time at home. I didn't really like the film very much on my first viewing, but this time, found that I enjoyed it a lot more. I really enjoyed the music and the relationship between Joy and Sadness. I won't say that this film is in my top five PIXAR films or anything, but I think I found a new appreciation for it.

Oh wow. Didn't see that coming. Pixar winning an award for best animated feature. Who would have guessed?

Not surprised but proud nonetheless. Next year ought to be interesting with two Disney movies in the fray along with a Pixar one.

I'm not proud at all. I'm not a Pixar fan. I root for whichever film I consider the best. While Inside Out was good, Anomalisa was a masterpiece and more deserving of recognition than all of Pixar movies combined.

It was a good group of nominations this year, Inside Out or Anomalisa would have gotten my vote, both films were more than worthy of the award. I'm delighted for everyone who worked on Inside Out, I thought it was an incredible piece of work from one of the best, most creative directors in animation today in Pete Docter.

I'm going to be seeing Anomalisa tomorrow (looking forward to it!), but of the four nominated animated features I saw, The Peanuts Movie was my personal favourite. A brilliant technical achievement and a wonderful tribute to the classic comic strips and television specials with quite possibly the funniest and most heart-warming script of the year. As much as Inside Out gets a lot of praise for its themes and its creative depiction of the brain, I find The Peanuts Movie to be the more impressive achievement especially in a day and age where modernising everything is the norm for classic properties. The team behind Peanuts knew the best way to adapt it to the current age was just the technology, because the themes and humour of Schulz's original work still resonate.

Looking forward to checking out Anomalisa and seeing if it would end up getting my vote over The Peanuts Movie.

I can't really comment on this year right now. I haven't seen Anomalisa yet, and it does look very good. (I might see The Peanuts Movie in the future.) Inside Out was good--not "great," imo, just good. But even the fact that I liked it at all probably means a lot.

My prediction for next year is if Finding Dory gets Toy Story 3/Finding Nemo level reviews, it's probably going to steam-roll the competition. But I think if Moana soaks up a lot of the interest and turns into a blockbuster, I can see that winning. I'm actually looking forward to Zootopia more, but Moana will probably be more the Academy's cup of tea.

Well... That might not even be the case. Do I know for sure? No. But I'm pretty sure the only way that Finding Dory may even get nominated is if it has a Toy Story 3 level impact critically and commercially. Not to mention it's a sequel and TS3 is the only Pixar sequel to date that was even nominated.

Still don't know why the Oscars snubbed MU in favor of the movie with gibberish-speaking twinkies... True, it probably wouldn't have even won against Frozen away, but it at least should've been given the honor of a nomination.

I'll just leave this here, we all have to bow down to Pixar

I'm still appalled Tangled never even got an Oscar nomination. It wouldn't have won, but not even to have gotten a nomination ? Crazy.

Tangled was nominated for Best Original Song. It was robbed by Toy Story 3. And of course they give Randy Newman an Oscar for Toy Story 3 but he loses a year earlier for The Princess & the Frog
Tangled was unable to do to Toy Story 3 what Tarzan did to Toy Story 2 & what Pocahontas did to Toy Story 1

I love Tangled, but I don't think it not getting nominated for Best Animated Feature was particularly malicious. There were only three slots that year and Toy Story 3, The Illusionist and How to Train Your Dragon simply got more votes. If there were five spots as seems to be the norm now, it definitely would have gotten in.

I understand that the other films got more votes, but its such a popular film, and has certainly withstood the test of time. Just a shame it can't be listed as 'Oscar Nominated'.

Anyway, was just an observation, not to hijack the thread
