About the "outside looking in" lyric: say what you want about Slater, but I doubt the man was confused about Rapunzel spending her entire life physically indoors. The lyrics mean Rapunzel has been outside of society/normal life looking in.

Once it comes out at bookstores, such as Barnes and Noble, or Borders, I shall buy it as souvenir. It looks fantastic, and very artistic. My compliments to Glen Keane: You have done it again!

estefan wrote:Also, is anybody else surprised that it's being campaigned in best original screenplay and not adapted. Reading the plot summary of Tangled, while it's still changed in that usual Disney way, it's still obviously based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Maybe they don't want to compete with Toy Story 3, which is being campaigned for adapted screenplay.
I wonder if they consider the "Tangled" name making it something other than the original Rapunzel story, another reason why they shouldn't have changed the name.
And how is Toy Story 3 an adapted screenplay? Adapted from what?
megustajake wrote:I do think the lyric should've been "All those years, inside looking out" instead of "outside looking in"... would've been a good play on words and more accurate.
I think it means Rapunzel was outside of the world, looking into it. She wants to be in the world, and find out what's in herself.

^Sequels are always adapted screenplays (cause they're adapted from the original in some way, shape, or form).

To tell you the truth, I could not stop thinking about the song, "I See the Light." When Flynn sings after Rapunzel, I was 1/4 about to cry, but 3/4 to hold my tears from shedding with joy. I can even tell you the scales that are used in that song: C Major to E-flat Major. What can I say, I am a music major. Anyways, that song really makes me smile a lot. I wish they could have sing for real, than voice overs. That would be even more romantic. But, oh well. Besides, Disney's, "The Lion King," has a voice over for, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," instead of having both Simba and Nala sing to each other. Also, they have an additional soloist, Timon, and Pumbaa to accompany the song. There is also, "So This Is Love," from Disney's, "Cinderella," "I Bring You a Song," from Disney's, "Bambi," and many more songs that can be voice overs, than having characters singing.

As phan258 stated a few posts back is that the solos of Rapunzel and Flynn are voice overs, but the duet part is not.

The art of book looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the whole thing up close.
I just wish they picked a better cover. I mean Rapunzel in the movie is very beautiful but that concept art of her is just hideous and it ticks me off that they just show it more as a comedy. But that's Disney marketing for you.

Heh, just wait until you see the artwork that rolls along with the credits after the film--Rapunzel looks lovely, but Flynn has an almost rat-like appearance! XD
I should clarify that I LOVED the end-credit art--it's very interesting, unlike any of the concept art I've seen, and I'm hoping to find it again in the artbook. If it's in there I'll indicate which ones! (I've pre-ordered the book)

Hello! I've been checking this site for major updates/pics/videos for a little while now, but this is my first post.
This weekend I woke up at a frightfully early hour in order to drive a couple hours to the nearest screening of Tangled. It rained. And then it rained some more. I was miserable.
Later on, I walked out of the theatre grinning from ear to ear. You see, I thought I was going to
like Tangled. Nah. I bloody loved it (
phan258 has already written a wonderful review that pretty much sums up how awesome it is). It's just stunning how much emotion they (the animators/actors) put into some of the scenes. It always felt... real and true.
Nov. 24th needs to be tomorrow.

I'm sorry you had such a terrible environment, but I'm glad the movie cheered you up a lot

Hi there! No pressure, but I'm sure everyone would love to hear your perspective if you're willing to share it! I'm thrilled to hear you loved it too!

Dear Disney Enthusiasts,
That first sketch of Rapunzel (The sketch in which Rapunzel's mouth is in an "O"-shape, and the sketch beside which is the note about the fullness of her face) makes me think of Pocahontas.
Thank you in advance for your replies.

1. Jimmy!!! OMG, your costume is amazing!
2. Ugh, "I See the Light" is AMAZING! So, so, so good. I love it! Mandy sounds amazing (and I'm liking Zack, too!!!)...and it's not sticking out like a sore thumb that it's her...I definitely don't feel now that I'll be thinking the whole time, "Oh, that's Mandy"...I think I'll be thinking that it's Rapunzel, if that makes any sense.
3. 1:02 in that book-flipping video...hello, Flynn!

I agree. Yesterday as I was listening to the song, the TV commercial came on...it just didn't seem right.
I've already been super-excited for
Tangled, and I know that I'll like it (I'll love it, who are we kidding)...it has the elements to be a favorite of mine, especially if the marketing is so off... With
The Princess and the Frog, though, I knew that it'd be a favorite way before I ever saw it. I have high expectations for
Tangled, and obviously I won't know if it's a favorite of mine until I see it, but the artwork I've seen and then this song (wow, this song! <3) make me really happy and hopeful...

Today my friends told me that some people say there's going to break out a World War 3 in the midst of this November... and all i could think was: I hope not, then i can't see Tangled!

Time goes by sooo slow. I can't wait any longer!

WOW those pages from the artbook are really supercalifragelisticexpealidocious hahah... im really annoyed after seeing these images that the movie had to be CGI, i mean, it looks like the movie had almost completely been done in hand-drawn 2D before they decided making it computer 3D.
It would have been so much more magical if this was made more into that painting style they spoke about in the early beginning, like the redo of the swing painting..

Omg, people, Tangled is only in a few weeks!
For some reason I was thinking it was near the end of December, but I checked Wikipedia the other day to make sure and learned that it comes later this month. Not that I'm that excited, but it's come up on me so fast.
This'll probably be my last post 'til I see it. Really trying to avoid spoilers.

I'm very excited for this film. Like with every latest Disney feature, I'm refraining from seeing any further spoilers until the actual movie comes out, so I can be in for a surprise.
However, the film will still be up against Harry Potter, which is sure to have a lock on the holiday box office.

Alright, now that I have more time to write....
The Animation: Wow. Now, traditional animation is still my favorite, that hasn't changed. But I have to admit I completely forgot about my preference when I saw Tangled. The CG didn't distract me from the story like I thought it might, and the 3D effect only made shots look deeper. The traditional influence is subtle, but it's still evident in the characters' movement. There really isn't a reason to hate. It's gorgeous.
Comedy: done surprisingly well here. There's plenty of physical comedy of course, mostly from Flynn and Max, but it never felt forced. The laughs were genuine and the timing was spot on. The humor comes from the moment and is balanced perfectly with the drama - Like the cave scene! It's a bit of a downer and you can't help but worry. The little girl behind me even started freaking out. But by the end of the scene the whole audience was chuckling (Flynn

). The important thing is, the movie has heart. Tangled is a combination of all the elements that made the other classics special - adventure and discovery, love and humor.
Funny as it is, you might wanna bring a tissue. Or two.
