I don't know if you read my previous post in this thread, but I was having printer troubles the other night, and as I was messing around trying to get it to work I ended up cancelling the printing for the Toy Story $10-off coupon too many times and you can only print the coupon so many times from the website, so even though it never actually printed the website thinks it did and keeps giving me the "sorry, you already printed this too much" message.

But I'm glad I was able to get the $10 off one for Toy Story 2 to work!

I'll be getting these, then holding onto them until I see a future release that actually utilizes Blu-ray's technology at it's best.

Just got back from Target...

$18.77 out the door. I only used the $10 off coupons, and didn't try using the $5. The cashier even commented about how great of a deal it was, and said she needed to check for coupons more often.

Anyway they stocked an even number of the Blu-ray cases versus the DVD cases at my store (there were 7 of each on the shelf, probably more in the back). The Blu-ray cases were in the plastic security cases, while the DVD ones were not. My store did not remove the slip covers, but a few of the Blu-ray ones were damaged by the security cases. The cashier told me the DVD ones would go in some type of case later today since it had a Blu-ray in it too.

I also just returned from Target, with a price of $18.77 total. The two $5 coupons could not be stacked with the two $10 coupons. The cashier was plenty willing to do it, but the computer would not let her. They were selling so fast that the stock cart with extra blu-rays was nearby, so I was forunately able to get a non-boxed one and avoid the slipcase-crushing problems.

What do you mean? From every review I've read, they look OUTSTANDING. Aren't they already utilizing the technology?

I'm going to buy Toy Story 1 and 2 tomorrow, and I wanted to see where the best place was to buy them.

I know people had said that Target, if you buy both, you get $10 off right away, then with the $10 coupons it becomes a total of $18.77.

Has anyone else bought them yet? Thanks.

I meant for features and stuff like that. There's another thread in which it's been discussed how most multi-national studios aren't taking full advantage of hardware. Universal even updates pre-menu trailers! And there's a french studio that made pip tracks in which the Window can be fullscreen'd.

I've read the review for Toy Story put up on UD, and I have to take exception to the notion that the 1.78:1 ratio is the theatrical one. It's not. Toy Story was initially released at 1.85:1, the 1.78:1 ratio is the ratio for 16:9 TVs. Why couldn't they release it in it's original ratio? It irks me to no end that they continue to release this in the 16:9 TV ratio. I know I'm in the minority in wanting the correct theatrical ratio, but good god, why can't they get it right? My rant is over now, but wanted to enlighten those who may not realize this...

Sure, adding 3cm of image on top and bottom REALLY makes a MASSIVE difference.

I understand having a lust for the Theatrical Ratio, but let's be reasonable; it's nothing to shake your finger at when a 1.85:1 is opened up a tad to 1.78:1.

Well, that's your opinion, and if it's not a big difference, then there's no reason why they couldn't have released Toy Story in it's correct ratio. In other words the way it was shown in theatres, but I guess you don't care about preserving the theatrical version and want your TV screen filled.

With overscan on TVs 1.85:1 and 1.78:1 will look identical. Both ratios normally fill up TVs. If you have your TV calibrated there are very tiny bars for 1.85:1. I'm all for OAR, but this is very minor.

Anyway I popped in Toy Story 2 to see the picture quality and it looks amazing. Sound is very good as well. Probably want have time to watch these today, but from what I've seen it is demo material.

For those wondering about the coupons I have read that the register/computers at Toys R Us are scanning all 4 coupons with no problems (several reports of them working, but again its YMMV). If you want to try using the $5 and $10 coupons this seems like the best place.

To answer your question...YES, both the DVD and Blu both have artwork in both sets. I got the Blu packaging.

The review for the Toy Story BD on the front page is one of the best reviews I've ever read.

It totally made me in the mood to watch mine when it comes in the mail this week from Amazon.

Nice. I'm excited (the review added to it.) I'm going to definately try it tomorrow. (I'm pulling a 9 to 9 school day laced with quizzes and tests so I'm not going to be able to get it today.)

Anyone who went there and DID NOT use the $15 on the Princess and the Frog, let me know if there's a way the $15 can be used at another TRU. Monsters, Inc that I plan on using it on isn't in stock where I pre-ordered.

On the OAR discussion, how do we know for certain that 1.85:1 is the originial theatrical ratio?

Actually, for 1.33 and and anything above 1.85, I want the original Ratio, because that's a much more significant difference. plz dont put me on the same level as millions of idiots who dont like the "black bars".

I bought my copies at noon today at Toys R Us, and they only had one copy of TS2 in the Blu-ray packaging and five copies of TS1 in the Blu-ray packaging. They had probably 20 or more of each movie in the dvd packaging. I was lucky to get the last TS2 that I wanted in the smaller Blu-ray box. I don't know why they stock so few of them. It's not like they had many to begin with based on the layout of the shelving and the empty spaces....probably just a half dozen of each in Blu-ray packaging.

Got em for 18.99 a freaking STEAL with the movie tickets too

Toys 'R' Us had a bunch of Toy Story Blu-Rays, but no copies of Toy Story 2 (yeah, makes no sense to me, either). I ultimately went to Loblaws and got the copies on sale there.

I also gave the Toy Story 2 Blu-Ray a quick look and it looks amazing. The new bonus features are pretty solid, too, especially the Joe Ranft tribute. My own disappointment is that they use the new Disney logo to open the film and not the classic Disney-Pixar one used from Toy Story all the way to Ratatouille.

But, yeah, the opening sequence with Buzz flying through the planet is spectacular, both image and sound-wise.
