Currently watching: Castle in the Sky on Cartoon Network.

I'm quite surprised that CN was finally showing Miyazaki films after TCM showed them back in January. Every saturday of April, CN is showing Miyazaki films. Next week, CN is showing Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

As for the film, I have the VHS version of it and I think it's very cute and good movie.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

Yesterday I watch V for Vendetta. It wasn't as good as I thought but at least it had a huge explosion at the end. I just don't like getting involved with politics.
Tonight I watched Good Night, and Good Luck. It was good I guess didn't really keep my interest but it's interesting to know about history.

You thought V for Vendetta was over political, so you followed it up by watching Good Night and Good Luck

Yes, but Good Night, and Good Luck is a lot shorter than V for Vendetta now is it?

That and Good Night, and Good Luck is more realistic because it's based on true events. Duh but that's why I thought it was better... well not better probably the same as V for Vendetta on my likable meter.

Watched Clash of the Titans

Just watched The Jetsons meet The Flintsones on Boomerang.

It almost made me cry.... seriously. It was GREAT to see these 2 awesome cartoons together. I loved how each family had to adjust to their new world, and of course, how they interacted with each other.


And to hear the 2 main songs mixed together in the end credits....


There was just 1 problem: they needed more budget and a longer running time; oh, and a much better ending.

I also was impressed at the time that they managed to do this crossover given the fact that The Jetsons were never as popular as The Flintstones.

Dog Day Afternoon.

Last night I watched, in this order:

Pretty in Pink (1986) - a lesser John Hughes film, a bit too heavyhanded and preachy for me. But still good 80s fun.

A Night to Remember (1958 ) - the definitive Titanic movie ever.

St. Elmo's Fire (1985) - watched it enough times with regular audio, so I switched to the director's commentary (which I've only heard once or twice). Good stuff.

Queen Christina (1935) - hate to say it, but I fell asleep during this film (maybe because it was 2 am...). Gonna re-watch it later in the week.

Quite an odd bunch, wouldn't you say?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire:


I didn't find it to be the best movie of them yet. Some people may say that PoA had no real plot, but in contrast I find that GoF has a lot of things going on and that actually doesn't move the story. And was very surprised by the dark ending.


And because of the whole dark atmosphere of the movie I'm surprised the movie has sold so well. My guess is because of the series and not the movie per se.

Jurassic Park is a great film. The sequels, not as great. In fact, I'm going to watch Jurassic Park, after I finish watching King Kong (1933).

I also agree with you about Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It's not that it is a bad film. It's just that there are no real revelations. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a much better film. It does help to move the story along, and it is, so far, my favorite of the series.

King Kong

The second time I've watched it and I can't say I truly like it.

Not that it is a bad movie by any means, but I just can't relate to the whole hype:


-I didn't find the special effects as spectacular as everyone claim them to be (blame it to how everything has FX and CGI now; I particularly didn't think the CGI was that much better than that used on LOTR; that doesn't make it bad.... just that for me it looked the same)

- the T Rexes fight wasn't as impressive either.

- I couldn't quite feel the bonding between Kong and Ms. Darrow. They needed to spend more time alone.


What I did like:

- the whole background on all the characters and the time spent in the ship. In fact, I'd love more of that. Probably taking time off the islanders scenes (that I found disturbing, too much stuff going on there and too long).

- the pit scene (I can't believe this movie got out with a PG13 rating with so many violent scenes)

- the ending part... it felt quick but in a nice way, that also didn't feel rushed.

- the climax was indeed amazing.


Everything said and done, I don't think this movie deserves an exted edition as it deserves more editing.

The Chronicles of Narnia:

I actually liked the movie SO much more than I expected. I just wish the characters were a little older.

However, I was impressed that Lucy didn't turn out to be either cute or annoying.

And I didn't believe the character of Peter at all.

The White Witch was magnificent.

and Mr. Tumnus was very well played too.


The battle scene impressed me because I didn't expect it to be that intense for a Disney movie.

It was really a very, very, very good movie.

It will be on my list to buy soon.

Watched Pulp Fiction last night
and
Chronicles of Narnia tonight

The Stendhal Syndrome (1996) - the beginning is not impressive for a director of the stature of Dario Argento, but from the scene where she first cuts her hair onward, it's an absolutely stunning, provocative film, and one of Argento's most surprising films, his daughter Asia is a remarkable actress who completely lost herself in this character. The two areas where this film was definitely less interesting than most Argento's previous films are score (which took awhile to get used to) and special effects (most computer-generated, some of which looked like bad music-video leftovers). The effects having to do with all the paintings coming to life however were excellent. I was expecting the ending to be typical, but even that was different. This was a wonderfully unpredictable horror-thriller with some very classy artistic touches, and great psychological material acted with perfection by the core cast.

Memories of a Geisha and Fearless

The first one is very sad in some parts,but I liked how it was made compared to the book, because almost always the book is way better than the movie, but here the movie is fair

Currently Watching: Hollywood Party

I just watched it and the film is pretty good! With good stars like Laurel and Hardy, Jimmy Durante, and others, this is definately worth keeping in my VHS collection until the DVD is coming out. Plus, Mickey's expression of Jimmy Durante is priceless and "The Chocolate Soldiers" short is cute. I love it!

I love this movie, I need to pick it up

I recently had the misfortune of watching Dodgeball with my little brother and his weirdo friend, which two rented it about a week ago, while the weirdo friend was visiting. It was completely laughless, unrealistic, and barely worthy of one star. Ben Stiller sadly overrates himself, and doesn't seem to realize he's not terribly funny or good-looking. It was a mistake to make Vince Vaughn, who does quite well as a sidekick or co-protagonist in such farcical movies, the central character; he's not charismatic, interesting, or talented enough to carry a film all by his lonesome. I don't know how he ever snagged Jennifer Aniston. But then, I guess girls on the rebound will take anyone.
