I never thought I'd see the day that Disney Animation Studios would actually get an Academy Award for Best Animated Picture yet it's happened

Okay I taped Idina Menzel's Performance at the Oscars on my DVR and I used my digital camera to take this picture. This is a game known as can you find the irony in this photo. (the link is below)

EDIT

I figure it would be silly just to do a double post so here

Who Is ‘Frozen”s Guardian Angel, Ryder Buck?
http://www.cartoonbrew.com/award-season ... 96696.html
At the end of Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck’s acceptance speech for Frozen, a visibly shaking Chris Buck said, “And finally we’d like to dedicate this to our guardian angel, that’s my son Ryder Buck. Thank you, Ryder.”

Ryder was Chris Buck’s 23-year-old son, an up-and-coming musician, who died tragically last October in a car accident, just 24 days before the release of Frozen. The circumstances of his death were particularly heartbreaking because Ryder had been battling Stage 4 testicular cancer for the year prior, and was on the verge of making a recovery when he was hit by two cars after his own car broke down on the 2 freeway in Glendale, California.

Looks like they went way over and my dvr didnt catch the whole show, was the win near the end or did I just miss it? I only skimmed.

This is all great news for Disney! They were finally able to score big on their own features without having to rely on Pixar. :mickana:

Of course, this means that Frozen won't be arriving at our local discount theatres anytime soon. :P

They went over by a half hour -- My DVR had The Oscars from 7:30p-10:30p Chicago time, and it ended up going to 11. However, you probably still got both wins as well as Idina's performance. The Animation award was near the beginning, and Idina's performance was around or shortly after 10:05p CT and Original Song was awarded around 10:15p CT, if I remember correctly.

I'm weak. After seeing that it cleaned up at the Oscars, I had to finally see it... so I bought it from Vudu. Loved the movie, hated the whole digital download bit. Will double dip whenever they decide to drop a 3D Blu-Ray in stores (if they ever do).

Be sure to call them or email them and kindly let them know you'd be interest in it! :) (info in sig) Emailing will result in a scripted response, but they'll pass it along to the higher ups. Calling will get you a live rep who will take note of your call and pass it along, and at least a few people have said they've been told it'll come in the fall, but that it just hasn't been announced.

My recording cuts off shortly after Idina's performance. I think just as best actor was revealed.

Congrts Frozen !

Let's hope that Frozen 2 is just as successful. It's mostly going to have to battle between The Lego Movie 2 though, but we'll see c:

Emailed them a few days ago, but not even a scripted response for me. :(
Will try calling them tomorrow or Tuesday.

Best Actor was the penultimate award, given at roughly 10:55p CT.

Oh, such brilliant news to wake up to; congratulations to all of the team.

And finally Disney have got one! I don't think it was the most deserving of all the recent Disney pictures, but I'm just so relieved they got one at last

Really random question, but when/ where do the animators & artists get officially congratulated? You know, the majority of the film staff who did the bulk of the work and in a time crunch?

Or have most been layed off already? :(

I have mixed feelings about this. I'm happy about Frozen winning, but I'm genuinely disappointed Let It Go did so as well. Say what you will, but to me it had no point even being a song and it didn't deserve that Oscar.

Oh, well... I better go of 24 Hours of Happy to get over the loss. Shame on you, Academy.

On the other hand, LOL at John Travolta fudging up Idina's name.

Out of Happy and Let It Go, I am genuinely torn between the two! I love them both, so is a real struggle to pick one over the other … :?

Happy is a great song. I love it come onto the radio.

But these were the awards show for film. The song had almost nothing to do with Despicable Me 2 other than being a jam for the characters to dance to. The fact that it was such a huge movie, but the song only was heard half a year later when Pharrell released it as a single helps make that point.

Meanwhile Let It Go defined the story that came to be Frozen. It did have to be made in order for it to be the cultural sensation it is today. That doesn't mean it necessarily deserves to win, but I think it won on its own merits.
