Do you prefer traditional hand-drawn animation or the computer, CGI one? Do you see the 2D one ever making a comeback?

I would much rather animate in 2 D than cg, personally. I like the drawing aspect as well as the acting.

2D animation not likely to ever get to the top spot again in children’s preferred entertainment experience unless it reinvented somehow in a hybrid new way that makes it feel like you are experiencing 2D more viscerally and more sensorily so it is a whole new experience. But people want the state of the art version of whatever it is they are paying for.

Interesting. It pleases me to see that there are other studios fighting for handdrawn.

Also, Mr. Gabriel has a point: in order for handdrawn to be relevant again, it needs to be done in a way that can truly stimulate the public's imagination. Maybe, JUST maybe, one of these independent animated films can do the trick.

I watched "The Elements Of Mini-Maui on the Moana Blu-ray a few weeks ago and at the end, Eric Goldberg said "I think hand-drawn animation still has a place at Disney." That really made me confident a little bit.

Eric Goldberg drawing Disney characters. I noticed they have him do this a lot lately. I guess it's because there's nothing else for him to do at Disney.

^ Yeah, I got a pop-up on my computer yesterday- the channel Oh My Disney did a live video from Tam O'Shanter's (a restaurant Walt and his staff often went to), and it had an Eric Goldberg and Burny Mattinson interview, then they ate, and then they were going to go into that live drawing session with Eric.

They have a new video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVaBvyzuypw, via awn.com), and the characters are hand-drawn, but the monsters and backgrounds, etc., are computer drawn. I know that Disney experimented with that concept in the '80s with Where the Wild Things Are (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvIDRoO8KnM)...I just don't see why this technique isn't more widely used...? Or even using the hybrid technique, like with Long John Silver. I think it's neat and looks great and wish it were used more widely.

She's using a cintiq, probably the same model I have (I'm using it to post this). Its cool to see more of these streams using them.

yeah this vid was alright but I liked their first couple videos which were all hand drawn. To be honest I haven't seen the majority of their vids, just those first ones way back in the stone age when MTV would still play videos.
I would love to see this technique used in a full feature length film too, looks similar to Feast. But the big wigs are just too cushy with all the money standard CGI is still bringing in, they'll probably think its too artsy and audiences will find it too weird.

At least there is some innovation going on with hand-drawn (or hand-painted) animation!
