whats so bad about a bootleg anyway?
There are those people in this world who don't like bootlegs for all sorts of reasons.
1.) They LIKE having the real thing.
2.) Disney guarentees best quality. Bootleggers may say they do, but don't always come out to be legit (why should they, what they do is illegal)
3.) They are illegal. There are those people in this world that like to stay on the right side of the law because it is the moral thing to do.
I do have some bootlegs, but of international DVDs that may never see the light of day as an official USA release. And some bootleg DVDs that will never see an official DVD in my lifetime, if ever.

How about pirated DVDs. How are they different from bootlegs and which one is better quality?

With all due respect, that question is...blasphemous!
As a DVD collector, I do not appreciate bootlegs and
wasting money on them.

In fact, I totally get pissed off at the seller for advertising a fake product from Disney.
True, the quality may be the same, but it's the overall product and what the money is supporting that's important.
How about Pirated DVDs? Aren't they the same? *shrugs* I would be thinking pirated DVDs are the DVDs of movies that aren't released yet, or they are ones sold in other countries and get passed off as Region 1 (when in reality it's Region 0 and can be played on
any DVD player. (Wait..that's the same as bootleg!

)
They're both illegal.
I don't see why you would ask what has the better quality since they're both illegal.
Why waste time and money on it..?

Doesn't matter. Anyone with the right tools and "professionalism" can create those. Truth is, it's very very hard to trust people on EBay selling these.
a Glossy insert is a huge key to a bootleg as this was discussed on several threads and in the chatroom.
Naussica, does you DVD look like <a href="

That's why I never ever buy a DVD online. The only online I'd buy is probably from stores like Best Buy, Future Shop. I want the real thing and not fake.

I saw some auctions by this seller.. even tho negative feedback is mostly for the shoes he/she sells, it has one about a bootleg DVD.. I don't trust the multiple sales.. If your not satisfied, return it.
Alan.. You sell'n bootleg dvd's?

Im so sorry you got cheated!!
Looking through the auction there were a couple of no no's that should tip you off next time...."Pictures shown below are the actual item you are bidding on or a real similar counterpart." - 'Real similar' means fake to me

.
They go on and on about not misleading their buyers and to read all the fine print ever so carefully. ----I say give em negative feedback and say its a bootleg. ( someone before you did by the way, another clue). I'm not sure, but I think their are some engraved numbers and letters on the underside of the disk that are probably harder to duplicate. Maybe call Buena Vista and check it out.
I'm not suprised that people are faking the little red stickers and seals.
It never seemed real difficult to me. -Was the coupon in there? hmm.
I never thought the 'Buena vista stamp' was too difficult to fake either.
They never stamp them in the same size or color!! How hard is it to fake something so inconsistent to begin with.

Good luck next time. I've been burned a few times , but its great when you finally get the set you want!!!

I'm not going to ask you to show a picture, instead...I'll assume that it's a DVD. There's no way that a seller can sell that many OOP Disney DVD titles.
If you have free time

, read to see why I mean "many OOP Disney titles." <a href="

Judging from the picture and what you are saying, this is definetly not a bootleg. I just informed someone else on this too. The Gold Collection DVDs and a few others were made with a glossy insert, and some of the movies don't even have inserts! The fact is, this is no reason to believe that it is a bootleg. It came wrapped and with stickers and all. Bootleg-ers dont take that much time into one DVD. They rarely even wrap their copies in plastic. The skip of the disc also doesn't conclude a bootleg. This may just be a scratch or even a smudge. Have you looked on the back? A scratch on a DVD is never good and that may be a reason for it to be refunded but this DVD is definetly not a bootleg.
Now that was all based on the picture. If the DVD looks nothing like the picture and stands out from other Disney DVDs, then I would immediately ask for a full refund.
Hope I helped! If anyone ever needs help identifying a bootleg, then PM me or whatever!

without seeing the actual product it is hard to tell if it is bootleg or not

Does it matter?? I don't mean to be crass, but if it plays fine, who cares. I know for a fact that the copy of The Little Mermaid that I got for my daughter is a boot, but it looks and sounds great and will do just fine until October of next year. I'm sure you will buy the 2-disc CE Pinocchio when it comes out, so just enjoy this one for now and write it off to experience. Once again, I'm not belittling you or your plight.

Easy way to tell just run it thru DVD DeCrypter and see what regions show up. You should show Region 1 and 4 for the real thing the boots show all regions . Hope this helps..
