Since this short was initially announced for Disney Channel, I wonder if this is going to be featurette length or if it has been shortened for theatrical exhibition.

Whatever length it is, it still has me feeling jealous that Disney is doing more "Tangled" material while "The Princess and the Frog" is getting bubkes. Does anybody else think a Halloween special with the shadow demons would be perfect?

So will this strictly be in theaters or will it also air on the Disney Channel?

I sincerely hope they haven't shortened it.

The TV specials "Prep & Landing" and "Pixie Hollow Games" are both 22 minutes. However, "Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa" is only 7 minutes.

Jim Cummings said in an interview that there were plans for a Princess and the Frog short but when the film underperformed, those plans sank.
Q: Are there any characters that you’ve voiced that you loved so much, you wish you could voice them again?

Cummings: Gosh, all of them, really. I really enjoyed Ray [from The Princess and the Frog]. They were 'threatening' to do some Ray shorts for awhile, and I would love that. The whole New Orleans groove is so dear to my heart, anyway.

And yet they have Tiana in the Princess merchandise.

In my opinion, I don't think Princess and the Frog underperformed. It was successful in its own right. It just didn't make the bazillion millions of dollars that Disney is used to.

I think PatF did well, considering the way it was marketed.

If the film was marketed as "The Frog Prince"
Didn't emphasis on the whole "Disney Princess Franchise"
The film would of done great!

Anyway here's ClevverMovies take on the Tangled Short!
(Nothing new really but oh well, it still excites me :3 )

OMG! I'm so mad! They could have still done the shorts! Seriously, it didn't do that badly. Besides, Ray needs love. Yet, it makes sense because he did die, so that'll be confusing.

They probably would have been prequel shorts.

My only nitpick is it'll be hard to get used to Rapunzel with short brunette hair.

It would be cool to see her get used to her new royal lifestyle.

1. I really wish The Princess and the Frog was instead titled The Frog Prince. Oh well.

2. My cousin brought up a good point: For this sequel, wouldn't it be a spoiler to those who haven't seen Tangled yet? Especially when Rapunzel's hair is short and brunette?

The poster sort of gives the whole "hair cut" thing away doesn't it

I think I will be good to see how Rapunzel expresses herself without her signature golden hair :3

Yeah, I guess. But when this short comes out, it will have been well over a year since Tangled had opened and I'm of the opinion that after a year, spoilers aren't as big a deal.

Though I did have the same thought when Shrek 2 was coming out, that those who didn't see the first Shrek would then know the twist ending. But, Rapunzel getting her hair cut isn't something I would call a twist, like Fiona's ogre reveal was.

I guess its going to be a short.

I agree on that. It would be nice if they made more material about it.

Patrick wrote:I hope the short isn't mainly about side kicks ...? I mean I like Pascal and Maximus a lot but I prefer the main characters. That description makes it seem like the short will focus only on them.
Apperantly it seems like the movie will focus primarily on them.

enigmawing wrote:Never said whether or not it should count, it's more that it feels like it's an "anything goes" policy with the princess merchandise (in that they make it as girly/sparkly as possible) so it's just kinda surprising to me that they haven't allowed Pocahontas her big, poofy, sequel dress for the merchandise. Not that she gets much merchandise in the first place. Maybe they're afraid all the little girls won't recognize her with her hair up. :p
I've searched and only found three 'Disney Princess' pieces of merchandise that feature Pocahontas with her 'sequel' ball gown:

Disney Princess: The Essential Guide

Disney Princess: The Princess Encyclopedia

Disney Princess: 8 Board Books

Also, I've found a few pieces of merchandise where Pocahontas is featured in her 'sequel' winter outfit:

You're right. Mulan (and the rest of the princesses) were given many non-canon outfits in the 'Disney Princess' line.

Pocahontas looks better in plain ol' dear skin.

Princess "Tangled" Punzy is barely in books? Her clipart is awful it doesn't look like her at all

I guess the reason that Pocahontas doesn't really get featured all that much is because she isn't a very popular character, also some people could make a case for unfortunate implications regarding the princess dress.
