Don't let the attitude thing bother you. The characters were only acting, just like in the old shorts. Plus, Goofy DID have an attitude in a lot of the old shorts, too.

As I posted before, the attitude Goofy displays is probably put best by TVTropes.org:

This is probably just a case of Goofy receiving the "George Geef" treatment by him getting cast in random roles.

There's little to no dialogue in these shorts anyway.

This cynical voice inside my head said to me, "Hey, if you want to see Mickey and everyone talk, watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They spend half, nay, three quarters, of the show just blabbing on to each other and to the audience, like Dora the Explorer does."

I wish they would do one of those how to shorts with Goofy. I'd like to see how it translates using this style.

According to Zap2it, "Bad Ear Day" earned 3.7 million viewers, the highest number of the new Mickey Mouse shorts so far.

Unfortunately, this series is called "Mickey Mouse", so it would not make much sense for Mickey not to be there.

They can give him a cameo or something if that matters that much.
