Yeah, but Prince Charming has...2 lines? Hardly a leading character. The only princes prior to this that I would consider "leading" characters are Naveen, Beast, and Aladdin.

I dunno, I just don't like his face. And, besides, he's supposed to have this "bad boy" persona, but he just looks like a douche.

@ Super Aurora: Yeah, 'Mesomorph' looks good and healthy. I won't deny that petite girls can be very sexy, but Disney tends to over-do it.

And Disney's Divinity: there's no need to call names, now is there?

Right, I don't think Prince Charming is much of a leading man either. He's still the heroine's love interest though. Would it help if I rephrased my original statement? "I don't find him nearly as bland as some other male love interests' designs." Same thing. -shrug-

And our definitions of "douche" must be pretty different, because when I hear that word I think of those idiots from Jersey Shore, not a man specially designed to be as handsome as possible! As for the bad boy thing, I actually see him as more of an "oily charmer" type (while he's in Flynn Rider mode, at least).

***ETA:
My friend just sent me this pic of a limited edition tower statue! It's going for $49.95 & is a limited run of 1200! Love it!

Sorry. I didn’t mean to sound like I was mincing words. :) I’m just not as harsh on the other Prince’s because they don’t have much of a role. As long as they look okay, that’s all they have to do (for me). :P

Actually, I was thinking more about it later today after I posted that. His design isn’t too bad. From those 2D black and white drawings they had of him and Rapunzel a while back (where he’s tied back-to-back with Rapunzel), he actually looked pretty cool. But the only thing I think of when I see the 3D version is that picture of him and Rapunzel where it’s just their faces to the side, with her hair hanging down. He looks like a pudgy Ken doll there (to me). Guess the 3D-hate is unconscious in me. I’m generally not as bad with movies that have non-human characters.

And that tower figurine is kind of awesome.

Haha, it's cool! Actually I feel like maybe I'm being a little hard on Prince Charming....not like he can be TOO out-there when everything else in the movie has such a 'classy' look to it. Still don't like him much though....on the other hand, I think the Prince from Snow White is adorable, and he's barely in the movie at all!

Goliath wrote:I tend to agree with that lost point, but one thing doesn't rule out the other. You don't have to drawn a super-skinny character to make her look attractive. I think most men prefer a slim girl, but they don't like skinny girls, as they like to have something " to grab onto" (to put it in a very blunt way). Thin waists are considered sexy, but how are those skinny arms of Rapunzel and Ariel sexy? They're a bit scary, to be honest.
Yeah, I do totally get that. I tend to draw girls on the curvier side but they'd be outright fat by Disney standards.

I also tend to draw women on the curvier side too. One of them does have a figure that crosses between Keira Knightley and an elven beauty.

Oscar-nominee Glenn Slater Looks Back on Writing Lyrics for Disney's "Tangled"
http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... -quot.aspx
"When Will My Life Begin" was a very tricky song to nail. Initially, Alan and I tried to do something that would then play against the audience's expectations. Which was that Rapunzel desperately wanted to get out of that tower and begin her life. This is why we wrote "What More Could I Ever Need", which talked about the rich, busy and fulfilling life that Rapunzel was leading up there in her tower. Which was a really funny idea for a song but then didn't service the audience's emotional needs. They needed to care about Rapunzel and what she was going through. Or otherwise we didn't have a movie. So after a while we ditched "What More Could I Ever Need" and - using basically the same piece of music - created "When Will My Life Begin". Which was a much better introduction to this character and her predicament.
[Talking about "I Have a Dream"]That was originally supposed to be a genuinely scary scene in the movie. The equivalent of Rapunzel & Ryder dropping in on a biker bar. But then Dan Fogelman (Editor's note: Fogelman is the screenwriter of "Tangled") did some research. And he discovered that biker bars often hold poetry slams. Where all these tough guys get to stand up and read the verses that they'd written about what it's like to be out on the open road. And that was such a funny story idea that the "Tangled' team just had to go with that. And to go from tough guys reading their poems aloud to tough guys singing wasn't really all that big a leap. So that's where the "I Have a Dream" song came from.
The people at Walt Disney Animation Studios are so much fun to work with. Such great collaborators. Take - for example - the moment in "Tangled" where "I See the Light" occurs. They showed Alan and I a storyboard of that sequence. Rapunzel and Ryder out on a boat in the water, looking up at those lanterns. And so we went off and wrote that song. Which the artists at Disney then did this amazing set of storyboards for our song. And with each phase of production, as they added the finished animation and then the orchestral score, that scene just got better & better. Becoming this perfect showcase for our song. I mean, you can't ask for better collaborators than that. People who work hard to make your work look even better.

EEEEP! Thanks for posting :) <3 the alternate opening. Only 5 weeks! I think I'm going to recreate the Alternate Opening with footage from the actual movie since a lot of it is in the opening

How about a tall princess in addition to a curvy one? (Or maybe one that's both?) I'm 5'10 -- I need some princess representation!

YES! A Mexican one! including tequila, tacos, and a sombrero.

Story is that she was a Puta but always desire to become royal and own peoples ass Pancho villa style, and found that the best way achieve it is become a hardcore princess.

If Disney ever made a princess like this:

I would die being happy, knowing Disney finally made a worthy and excellent princess.

I might be extremely late with this, but does anyone but me feel how in one scene where Flynn and Rapunzel are holding hands in the boat during "I See the Light" was reminiscent to "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid?

As far as the alternate opening goes, it's okay but I don't think it's even close to being as good as the final opening that we see in the film.

Just saw Tangled for the 6th time. Gonna go again tomorrow night & twice on Sunday. It gets better and better with each viewing! After watching it this many times, I have come to realize that the movie is best called "Tangled" and I love it as a comedy-adventure! I cannot imagine it any other way.
