After listening to "I see the Light" I felt like I was back from the 90's.

Disney really need to promote "Tangled" because I seen too much promotion from "Magamind" (no wonder Dreamworks movies does well). For "Megamind" I seen on the Airheads candy, McDonalds Toys, and TV commercials. For "Tangled" as of right now nothing hopefully Disney does something for "Tangled". I wish McDonalds or Burger King sold toys from Disney Movies like they used too but for some reason they don't do it anymore.

I am pleased with the outcome. I worried that Mandy would be too "Mandy" and the songs would sound like Christina Aguilera's rendition of Reflection. On the other end of the spectrum, I worried that she might oversing the lyrics i.e., has anyone ever critically listened to some of Paige O'Hara's vocal work in Beauty and the Best Enchanted Christmas?.

I don't hate the lyrics . . . I may not be blown away by them but they're not jarringly bad.

Most lyricists have the odd stinker of a line in someone's book - it comes down to personal taste. Here are some of the odd ones (IMO, of course) that come to my mind:

Rice - "Every moment red letter" from A Whole New World (who uses that expression other than grandparents?)
Zippel - "Boy was I a fool in school for cutting gym" from I'll Make a Man Out of You (doesn't fit the setting)
Mancina - "This is our festival, but best of all . . ." from Welcome (trying too hard to find something that rhymes)
Newman - "Your modesty becomes you and your sense of responsibility" from When We're Human (its like he was trying to cram more syllables in than the meter of the song would allow and the result feels like he's trying to force something that really doesn't work).

The only one I'm having a hard time thinking of any is Howard Ashman (which probably why his songs seem to be the gold standard).

Certainly Glen Slater isn't the most clever lyricist, but I do think his stuff is serviceable.

Some new Glen Keane drawings of Rapunzel as an adult and toddler have surfaced


In the first image Rapunzel reminds me of some other Disney character, can't put my finger on as to who though. Just to reaffirm Rapunzel as a toddler looks so adorable!

I'm being serious, but of course she reminds me of Ariel as usual. I was just thinking of her expressions. Maybe Jasmine or Meg?

After a quick search, look what I found, a preview of the new upcoming "The Art of Tangled" book You can watch a video of the guy flipping through the artbook which looks AMAZING!!! Hundreds of new pieces of artwork in there, HUNDREDS! AMAZING!!! It does contain some spoilers though, but this looks like the most gorgeous art of book I have so far!!!

Thanks robster! im so excited!, some of the artwork above are so gorgeous, and i noticed that they have a picture of the old tower (way back in it was called Rapunzel unbraided)

I love Ashman too, but I do have qualms about some of his Beauty and the Beast lyrics. For a provincial town, the villagers sound surprisingly sophisticated. In "The Mob Song," one woman sings "Set to sacrifice our children/To his monstrous appetite." Does anyone else think that sounds odd for this type of crowd. While we're on the subject, how does Gaston know MacBeth quotes ("Screw your courage to the sticking place")?

"I See the Light" sounds gorgeous! Every time I listen to it, it just seems to get better and better.

It's also reminiscent of "A Whole New World" which is totally okay in my book =D. I'm sure it's going to be even more amazing when it's playing during the lantern scene.

I love love LOVE looking at concept art for movies/videogames/etc, and the Art of Tangled looks exceptionally beautiful! You can see how much work has been put into making this film, and I'm sure the final result will be nothing short of amazing :3
