I've never really understood why some people want multiple versions of the same movie, it's rather confusing, usually someone would buy the movie for I dunno..the movie!? But to each their own I guess, I'd rather buy a movie I don't have at all than buy a movie I already have, especially since I can't afford to buy movies in bulk :( Oh well, I've also managed to track down A Bugs Life, I'm just waiting to see if my dad gets paid today or next week so I can buy it and add it to the collection :D

Whats the difference between these two? I have Sleeping Beauty 2 disc Special Edition but is there a difference between those first and second sets?
No real difference in the discs themselves, just in the cases...

Having all but given up searching for the DVD the first time, I found a set at an E/B Games that had the discs in pretty good condition (looks okay, but has a couple scratches that doesn't affect the playback), but the case was abysmal (the case and cover art looked like they had dried up after being thrown in a pool), though all the inserts were intact. And for those who care about such things, the slipcover was in fine working condition. Figuring this may be my only chance at getting the DVD, I bought it, took the discs out of the crappy case and put them in a spare two-DVD case I had.

And as luck would have it, about a week or two later, I'm at GameStop and find ANOTHER DVD for Sleeping Beauty, this one with the case (and slipcover *harrumph*) in great condition, all the inserts intact, and the discs in much better condition than the first set. So, I bought this set, put it on my shelf, and have yet to get rid of the first set (what with the cover art in horrible state and I really don't care to call Disney Customer Service to get a new one). Will likely hold on to it just as a back-up, much like my first Fantasia DVD (which I bought about a year or two before acquiring the Anthology).

Why oh why is it that I can find two DVDs of Sleeping Beauty within two weeks, but have yet to see 101 Dalmatians or Ultimate Toy Box in good used condition at these stores???

What's The Swan Princess and Thumbelina like, are they any good?

Have you ever seen the Dreamworks films, Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, Spirit and Sinbad. I think these are excellent examples of traditional 2D animation, and worth a spot in anyone's collection.

The Swan Princess is pretty good. I also like Thumbelina, but most people hate it. It has some good songs, Jodi Benson, and it's (obviously) based on a fairy tale, so some people think it's sort of a rip-off of Disney, but whatever.

And yes, I have seen those films by Dreamworks. I didn't enjoy the subject matter of The Prince of Egypt, and I was pretty bored by Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, but I'll probably buy Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas and Road to el Dorado on DVD soon. I also want to buy the rest of Don Bluth's films and maybe a few others.

Oh, and I edited my previous post to include 2 movies I just got for Christmas.

Here's my tiny Disney collection:

I have the Ghibli films as well but those are shelved with my anime (which there is much more of). When I get Disney releases, the lack of a slipcover will be a deal breaker for me.

Your Disney collection isn't that tiny!! I like your collection. :)

Anyway, I WOULD be posting pictures of my DVD collection right now, but our digital camera craped out on us. So, my dad and I ran out to Bestbuy to pick up rechargable batteries (hey, the guy on the phone from Nikon said it would help), so now I *MIGHT* get photos up tommorow if the new batteries work (they're charging right now). If not, it will have to wait a few days...er, weeks...hopefully.

Oh I see Escapay, I think I would do something like that too lol. I mean who wants a dried up Sleeping Beauty cover art with semi decent discs? hehe but of course its not good too spend loads on a brand new dvd either so thats cool you found a better version...(Sleeping Beauty cost me $41 -_- which is my fault I guess since Sleeping Beauty isnt even one of my favorites). Yeah 101 Dalmations is like impossible to find used anywhere lol well arounf my gamestop/eb games stores and sun coast. I did find the Ultimate Toy Box once but I didnt get it...

Well, I certainly am proud of myself. I finally got our digital camera working, and so I took some pictures of my DVD/VHS/CD collection. (Not NEARLY as big as many other's collections, but I'm proud of it nonetheless). So, here it is! (And I really hope the pictures work!)

Here is my entire animated collection: as you would see it if you were to visit my house, plushies and all

Image

Here's my Disney Animated Collection: (I have 22 DAC's so far as well as WDT: More Silly Symphonies)

Image

Here's my Non-Disney Animated Collection (plus the Pixar and Pirates movies):

Image

My (VERY small) VHS collection:

Image

My Warren Miller (ski movies) Collection:

Image

My Live-Action Collection (I know, I know. REALLY small...):

Image

And last but not least, my 2 Disney CD's:

Image

Hope you enjoy the pictures! Whew...I'm glad I got these up before the New Year! And, in case you're interested, I'm planning on buying next year at LEAST 3 more live-action films: Braveheart, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Interview with a Vampire. (As well as my first Studio Ghibli film, Spirited Away). So my collection WILL grow!

Is it just me, or does the Warren Miller logo going sideways have the same font as Walt Disney?

Here's an overdue update of my DVD collection. For a complete listing of titles see the link in my signature.

This is the DVD tower I got over the summer but I never got a chance to post a picture of it yet. Here it is:

Hey, brotherbear, nice collection! I noticed your 2-Disc collector's edition of TENG -- VERY NICE! How does it work, is it alright? Let me know!

Anyway, I took a trip to GameStop to pick up Season 5 of FRIENDS (you won't believe how unbelievably hard it is to find in my area, seasons 5 - 9 are SOOOO hard to find!!), and I noticed that they also had 'Return To Neverland', so $33 later, I wound up with Friends, and a new addition to my Disney DVD collection. They also had two copies of the GC of 'Robin Hood', that I considered getting. I plan on getting the MWE too, but I want to make it a two-disc set, with disc one (GC) having the FS version of the film and Ye Olden Days in color, and disc two (MWE) in WS and Ye Olden Days in B&W, but I figured that RTN was better. Also, one of the copies of Robin Hood had a BLACK keepcase, instead of white :? It was kinda funny!

It's not The Old Mill - that would be a bit out of place on Robin Hood. It's Ye Olden Days.

Hey DisneyFreak!! Long time, no talk! The TENG works just fine, and it came like new! Inserts and all! I'm very happy with it. :D

Congrats on finding RTN! I personally don't collect Disney sequels, but I know that many of them can be hard to find! I'm actually not suprised about the black case for RH. When I bought Brother Bear from a used DVD/CD store this past summer, it was originally in a GREEN keepcase (as in, the ones used to Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring). The colors looked good and everything, but being a perfectionist, I asked to switch cases with on in a black keepcase. AND it was because of that and the lack of inserts that the guy discounted it from $12.99 (used, obviously) to $5.75. 8)

As far as Robin Hood, I'm personally happy with the GC edition. The only reason I might buy the MWE is for the widescreen version and for what little more bonus features you get. But then again, you loose part of the picture, so maybe fullscreen is better. But of course, it's up to you.

Nice!! How'd you get a discount? Did you just ask? Also, the reason I purchased RTN was because I saw it a little over a year ago and I had taped it on Disney Channel, so I liked it! I wanna go back and get the GC of RH, but I've been spending money on DVDs like crazy! From December 26 - January 1 (today), I spent $135 on DVDs (without the tax)! I know it doesn't seem like alot, but that was 9 DVD (still doesn't seem like alot, but that includes 4 TV Show sets and 5 movies, most of which I STILL have to watch!)

Also, BB, speaking of discounts (this is a little OT), but the other day, I saw the movie "Little Man" for $24.99, but then I saw a copy that was $12.99, and then I looked at the back of the case. It was cracked, and the paper was ripped. I took it up to the counter, and I asked if I could just get the one in good condition for $12.99. The guy said no, but he said he would let me see the condition of the disc. It was flawless (because it was new..), so I was like "Whatever, the paper's only ripped on the back, it's cool", and the guy gave me a new black case for it! I walked outta there a happy camper!

I don't keep mine in their tins, and probably for the same reason as Brotherbear, "me no likey dents!". Yup, I would like my tins to be dent free, boom baby! (sorry, I've been watching TENG a few times in the last couple of days). So yeah, Brotherbear probably doesn't want dents.
