If it does go out of print soon, the next "oppertunity" Disney has to do that will be January 31, 2007, which is when they traditionally discontinue things (Abomination Bambi II aside.) We already know they're going to be discontinuing the Narnia 4-disc set then, and they normally like to take up to four or five titles at once -- although Narnia's so big for them that it may well be enough. Dunno.

I think that Aladdin didn't age as gracefully as some of the other titles. I think the humor and imitations have dated this film. Don't get me wrong. I think Aladdin is a great title, it just hasn't aged as nicely as BaTB and TLK.

It's been discontinued here in Australia, but it is very easy to find at stores that still have copies left.

But officially it can no longer be ordered from Buena Vista.

Both Best Buy at City of Industry and West Covina have the DVD and Giftset of Aladdin: PE.

Like has been said, I can see Aladdin Going Out in Jan. with Narnia and Probably LATT as its been hyped as being for a Limited Time? but we now know that A Limited Time can mean anything with disney

As you may have read on the main page, Luke just announced that Disney will return to their method of putting films back into the vault on January 31st, 2007. The films going back are "Bambi," "Lady and the Tramp," "Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" 4-disc set. I deffinatley think it is long past due for "Bambi" to go back, seeing as it was released a year and a half ago. I thought the Platinums were supposed to be more limited than that. I find it odd that the 4-disc Narnia is going to have such a short release time, but I guess it will boost sales. I'll get it for my brother, who's a big Narnia fan. I'm satisfied with the 2-disc release. I'm just curious why "Aladdin" isn't going back. That was released October 2004. That's 2 years ago. Also, it's been a year since "Cinderella" came out. That should probably be retiring as well. I'm assuming "Cinderella" and "Aladdin" will go back next January, seeing as that is when Disney likes to bulk all of their films going into moratorium.

Wow, Narnia going back so fast?!! I guess you're right that now everybody is going to rush out and buy it, before it goes back into the vault. Bambi kind of was overdue to go back again. I certainly won't regret LatT 2 going back. I don't like the sequels.

I don't mind some of the recent sequels, but "Lady and the Tramp II" was one of the worst in my opinion. I didn't upgrade to the new edition mainly because it was the same disc in a new package. However, the music was generally bad, especially the first song. The voices were very modern, and so were the characters. I think the only truly modern character in the original was Peg, and that was kind of a tribute to one of the song writers, Peggy Lee. Every other character seemed Victorian to me in their actions and mannerisms. What's sad is that at the time, it was one of the better sequels, but when compared to the recent DTVs like "Brother Bear 2" and "Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch," it really is poorly done.

Im glad to see some of the Platinums going back, although I will agree it is was overdue for Aladdin and Cinderella as well. I love the quick release of Narnia. I will be picking that up, along with a sealed copy of Lady and the Tramp.

Already have all those, so I won't mind them going back. Well, I still need Narnia. I do hope I'm able to get it while it's out, but even the 2-disc would be okay, since 4 sounds excessive. What in the world are they filling 4 discs with? Of course, I always like to get the biggest set I can, but don't really have the cash even for the 2 disc one. Plus, there are sets coming out that I want much more, like the Treasures, Wonders of Life, and Disney Afternoon shows...

I also passed on the rerelease of Lady and the Tramp 2, since it didn't seem to be "better" than the previous one, which I already had. I was disappointed in that film, especially being a big Scamp fan from the comics. He deserved better. However, I was rather impressed with the animation (considering it was DTV). I quickly identified what it was I didn't like about the film, and that actually is just saddening, because the filmmakers should have realized it too. Mainly, as was said, the songs! THey were all wrong for a Lady and the Tramp movie! I don't even remember their quality because I haven't watched it in quite a while, but I remember they seemed like they belonged in a much more modern themed film. The songs in the original were much more subtle, not characters randomly breaking out into song like they were doing Broadway. It was full of songs, but you almost didn't even notice that it was a musical. The sequel was a forced musical. All wrong. Second big mistake, the casting of Scamp. Making him an angsty teen type character was all wrong, and Scott Wolf sounded like a grown up trying to sound like a kid. It just wasn't working. Personally, I think the plot should have been more of a Homeward Bound type thing, which could still have worked in the romance and elements of the original film. That could have been so great, especially if they got real kids' voices for the pups.

Odd, I always felt that Scott Wolf was an adult who still looked and sounded really young, which is why I felt he was *perfect* for the part.

I'm somewhat concerned that Aladdin PE is still in print while Bambi and even Lady and the Tramp go OOP. It'll be two years this October, making it the longest print run for a Platinum. It's ridiculous, though, that its sequels are already in the vault, and yet it isn't. (wait, are the sequels in the vault?)

this is why I buy the movies ASAP when they are released. Disney is very stubborn - why can't they keep movies out longer?

I got Fantasia before it went into the vault and would still buy a Platinum or Special Edition release if it had lots of special features.

I remember getting an e-mail (some time ago) that Lady and the Tramp was going into the vault, so I rushed out to get it (I had put it off due to money issues). Therefore, I am kind of annoyed that I still see it in stores. Same with Bambi, or was it Bambi 2. I still see both in stores, but I distinctly remember the vault date for one coming and going...

Because if Disney announces there's a limited window to buy them, the demand will raise. Though of course, once it's in the vault, private suppliers will stockpile 100s of copies to sell a year later at $50 a pop, and none of that money will go to Disney.

You didn't look at that e-mail carefully enough. While <i>Bambi II</i> had a "return" date, for the others (April 18), it simply said that they were going back to the vault in the future. Of course, it was shrewdly designed to make you think that all were disappearing. I remember discussing the matter in some thread around the time that people got them.

acutally I still need to get a lot of disney's other releases, as my collection only consists of lion king (both 1 and 1 &1/2), aladdin, brother bear, and lilo and stitch.

I'll have get banbi sometime this year, which I was planing on doing anyway.

So Bambi has been out forever while LATT will be out for less than a year when it goes in the vault. Interesting.

Aladdin's been out forever longer than Bambi and Cinderella's been out forever longer than LATT, and they're still in print. Maybe Disney has a thing against movies with predominantly talking animals...

Why hasn't Aladdin gone back in the Vault yet? I think they should switch around Lady and the Tramp for Aladdin.

why would anyone Want something to go into the vault?
I mean, they should just leave it on shelves for as long as they sell.
