I agree, Disney princesses are too skinny; it's not realistic. (Yes, I know it;s a cartoon!) Seriously, it's not healthy. Not saying they should be fat, which is unhealthy, too. Just a bit more realistic. There's a difference between slim and anorexic.

Doesn't she simply "hook" her hair onto something, grab the hair on both sides of the hook with both hands, and slides down? In her hands, one side of the hair is going up and the other is going down... does that make sense?

That's what I was thinking too, but I was not quite sure. Thanks for the "confirmation" Victurtle!

That doesn't bother me so much. As it's been said, they're simply cartoons, and cartoons are based on exaggerations; parts perceived to be attractive as thin (such as the waist) are made to be thinner, parts perceived to be attractive as round (like, uh . . . you know) are made to be rounder. Some claim that the Disney princesses endorse an unhealthy body image, but I think photoshopped celebrities do far more damage since they're a twisted form of reality instead of merely a caricature of it.

But with that being said, I'd love to see more body types represented. Not just for the female leads, but the male leads. I'd simply die for the Bear Flynn/Bastion character over what we were given in the final film.

Bear Flynn sucks. He reminds me too much of that dreadful Baker who has poor taste in women.

And I agree with enigmawing--the princesses aren't the only ones with designs that are repetitive and unrealistic. The reason I never take them seriously is the same reason I don't take the violence seriously--it's an exaggeration on real life. Nobody's going to imitate the impossible.

Also I agree with Super Aurora re: Bear Flynn, as I seem to more often than not.

Bear Flynn looks like a younger Pacha imo. And about the princesses bodies, well, we're now in an era when everything's got to be made for political correctness, I bet we'll get a chubby princess at some point.

I'm also not all that impressed with Bear Flynn either, I'm glad he looks the way he does in the film.

I'm also putting my lot in with the (not so minor) minority re: Bear Flynn. His design is adorable and all, but I love the final version of Flynn they went with. Why all the hate? I don't find him nearly as bland as some other male lead designs (looking at YOU, Prince Charming!)

Eh, I don't hate Flynn, he's still a cool character. It just would have been interesting to see them go in a different direction with him.

well, perhaps they should re-use the hunkier male lead idea for some future project. I kinda like it as well, but I don't see this movie without the Flynn Rider we had. I like the big man/petit lady concept, it gives a whole protection idea for the fragile girl in the tower, but we had a big male/small female couple in BATB already.

I tend to agree with that lost point, but one thing doesn't rule out the other. You don't have to drawn a super-skinny character to make her look attractive. I think most men prefer a slim girl, but they don't like skinny girls, as they like to have something " to grab onto" (to put it in a very blunt way). Thin waists are considered sexy, but how are those skinny arms of Rapunzel and Ariel sexy? They're a bit scary, to be honest.
