BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!! This week's New Line Blu-ray release of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is a real rip-off. The Extended Editions are on Blu-ray (2 discs each, so you still have to change discs) and the other 9 discs in the set are all standard DVD.
After viewing again, the third time in the last few weeks, I have decided to pass on this set. The Digitally-Mastered Standard DVD's of the Extended Editions of all three films are way above average, and I can't see wasting the money on Blu-rays that will not have an additional extras.
I was really bummed that they still put each movie on two discs, they would fit comfortably on one disc, but that is their loss. I will not be buying this set.

I've heard mixed reviews on the set. My friend says it looks/sounds great, but a lot of sites are reporting problems with Fellowship's transfer (having a green tint). Do the movies fill up 2 Blu-rays? I could see them still using 2 discs if the transfer was too large to fit on 1 disc.
The standard DVDs were probably a way for them to save money on the set. I know the Theatrical set I got on Black Friday last year had 3 DVDs and they were the exact same discs that come with the DVD versions of the Trilogy. It would have been a lot better if they put them on a Blu-ray disc, even if they were still in standard def.
I'll probably wait until the price drops, if I get this set. I have a feeling this isn't the last LotR release we will have with the Hobbit movies coming out soon.
