Really? I thought she looked fine with shorter hair. I think they were thinking that she would look too much like Belle, so to set the two of them apart they had Flynn cut her hair shorter than most people would think. Besides, Snow White and Mulan (after she cuts her hair to be in the army) are two perfectly fine Disney princesses with short hair. Why is long hair always steriotypicaly beautiful anyways?
Rapunzel's haircut makes me think of a scarecrow. Sticks out everywhere and no amount of effort keeps it smoothed down. I wonder if Rapunzel becomes a fan of wigs with hair that settles.

Fairytales wrote:That sucks, it really does! :( Can't you see it somewhere else than the UK? Holland or so? They have the original version in English there as well... Don't they in France?
Well, France (along with Latin Europe in general) is bigger on dubbing than the Low Countries and Scandinavia. As it probably wasn't predicted to do as well as it appears to be doing in the States, and moreover since it's a family film, they probably decided to just forgo distributing it in an English subtitled version; the chain isn't showing it in English in any of their cinemas across France, from what I saw. I really would rather not pay to watch a dubbed film; dubbing is a generally bad method of translation, as it's a great distraction to the original intent of the producers and directors, and anyone with any intellect ought to snub the very concept. Animation doesn't tend to be as painful as live action, but I'd still rather not watch unnatural voices dub over lips that are synchronised to other pieces of dialogue.

Unfortunately, Holland is too far away, as I'm actually on the Atlantic coast. If I were near enough to the border with the Benelux countries (or perhaps even Germany, since it'd be an excuse to go to the Stuttgart or Munich Christmas markets as well :p), then I'd shoot over the border. The best I know I could do is Paris, but still there's problems; it's three hours away by train, and it probably would be too expensive to go primarily to see a film (it'd cost at least €50 by train with a rail card, and I'd need to definitely get back to the station for 9:15pm). I might try and look into two of the nearer bigger cities, as admittedly a lot of cinema schedules aren't up yet (they change on Wednesday when the new films come out). But still...

Can someone who has access to the cam version post the three versions of "Healing Incantation" not included on the soundtrack please? They are: As Gothel cuts a lock from Rapunzel's hair, when Rapunzel sings to Gothel at the beginning, and as Rapunzel and Flynn are going under water

Composer Alan Menken Gets ‘Tangled’ for Disney
http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/11/ ... or-disney/
Q: This year, you’ve announced that you only plan to submit one song from “Tangled” for the Best Song category at the Oscars, to improve your chances of winning. How does today’s awards environment for songwriting differ from when you started?

A: Obviously, my most recent experience [at the Oscars] was with “Enchanted,” when we had three of the five [Best Song] slots and we lost. With “Beauty and the Beast,” which won for its title song, and for films like “The Lion King,” they came out at a time when title songs could reach the pop charts and there was clearly one song that encapsulated the project. Nowadays, title songs are much less likely to make the charts.

Moreover, you can only submit two entries in the Best Song category, a rule change that was probably related to me, so it’s really a matter of deciding whether to submit two songs versus just one. All of us felt that the song “I See the Light” is the heart and center of this movie and it’s a beautiful sequence, so it’s our best option. I’m proud of the others as well, but “I Gotta Dream” is more of a novelty number; “Mother Knows Best” is a sophisticated theater song, and “When Will My Life Begin” is very plot-specific. “I See the Light” seems to be the one that can break out.

I can't believe it, but my favorite song in the film is a reprise: mother knows best's.

The more I listen to it, the more I like it. And it really dawns on me the theatricality of the moment. I thought the musical arrangement is what made it so powerful, but I;ve heard the song without the voice, and thats not it. Its Donny Murphy's brilliant performance.

And here is the question: how come when will my life begin and mother knows best both have such weak endings compared to their reprises??

I kinda wonder if maybe the the first versions were not meant to be completed and the reprise finished were the actual finishes of the songs. I mean When will my Life begin's reprise answers the first song since she finally has made it outside (hence "That's when my life begins") and the "Mother Knows Best Reprise" is Mother Gothel's final word.

Thank you for all the clips you've posted (some are EXTREMELY spoilerific, but IDC cuz I've seen the movie. I wouldn't recommend watch Kingdom Celebration if you don't know the ending yet.) I'm not surprised Disney hasn't taken the videos off yet, considering that the movie just came out and you've posted so much footage of it from clips. Thx for posted anyway, and I subscribed XD

I found out something absolultely hilarious:

Know how Flynn's real name is Eugene Fitzherbert?

Fitzherbert is a Jewish name.

Hence the various wrong nose joke on his wanted poster... LOL

Oh Disney, you clever bastards.

Going off of that, it would be kinda neat if Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene represented Disney's first Jewish couple! lol

Think of all the Rapunzel themed Menorahs and candles they could sell!!!!

I'm not sure, but I'm going to go see the movie again (for the 3rd time) with some friends tomorrow afternoon. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for one!

This is AWESOME! You chose just the right clips to make Flynn's opening narration seem epic (was a little dissapointed in the original). I'm definitely going to try to do a higher quality rework of the Prologue similar to what you've done here (including Gothel's second incantation that gets cut short... pun intended).

One small qualm: you left out the fast incantation when Rapunzel is trying to ask Gothel about the lights as well as the very ending incantation when Rapunzel sings over the dying Flynn.

Go to Paris ! There are English subtitled versions of the movie. In fact, the movie is in English subtitled, the evening, since November 17th in the theater "Le Grand Rex"!
