UGH. I don't want the combo to stick out behind the first two.

The princess and the frog case had two versions of the combo case, a standard blu, and a dvd sized one. same goes for the first two toy stories. did you not get the right ones when they came out? the TS3 case should fit just fine with the others I think.

I'll have my copy in a couple hours or less.

I just bought the TS3 combo pack and when you put it together with the first 2 combo packs the consistency isnt really all that bad. Not perfect yes but it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb for various reasons:

• + the combo pack spine is a darker shade of blue (different from TS1) and the characters on the spine (least on my copy) are Rex and the Potatoheads. So you get different characters on each set.
  + The yellow border on this slipcover is a plus IMO and the embossed characters complement the blue and red backgrounds on the slipcovers of the first two films.
  + TS3 packaging is only slightly bigger only like an eency bit thicker. And when you consider that TS3 is much different in tone from the first 2, there's bound to be some differences in the third movie set.

So when putting this with the others on the shelves, it doesnt look that bad.

No worries, I went with the 2-Disc Blu-ray. Even with the $8 coupon, it was still $2 cheaper than the Combo back.

Sooo... Best Buy didn't accept the coupon. The cashier said that they couldn't accept it because it's already on sale since it's release week. Maybe the guy thought it was a different coupon or something, because doesn't Disney give them the 8 bucks back?

Oh well, it didn't really matter to me since if there's one movie I don't mind paying $25 for it's Toy Story 3, which will get watched MANY times to justify the price

As for the Blu-ray itself? Looks and sounds gorgeous, as expected! And as always, I hate that it's in a thick Blu-ray case, there's no need for that since they can fit four discs in a thin case but whatever. I kinda like that Rex is on the spine, since he's my favorite character I was surprised to see the Potato Heads on the other side, I thought for sure it would be Lotso!

Just bought this today (for $21.49 with coupon), and I forgot how deeply this movie touched me. I really liked how they ended things though, even though it was a little bittersweet.

Last year, a Best Buy store fought with my father and I for over a half an hour when trying to get Bedtime Stories. They claimed that since it was not a Best Buy company coupon but a Disney one they were not able it. I have not been to THAT Best Buy since.

Toys R Us is NOT allowing you to use both coupons... well the one I normally shop at didn't!

So I returned my WHOLE purchase and went to best buy! The guy was a complete j**k and gave me a hard time and even embarrassed me in front of other employees! He also literally hit my face with the coupon saying I couldn't combined the order and I think when he scanned the coupon it went through but he still wouldn't let me use it! What's the difference to him anyway?!?! He doesn't own Toys R Us! The three bucks wasn't gonna go to his paycheck lol! When I went to customer service to ask if I could use the coupon he ran over and starting to tell the lady not to give it to me! Thank God I remember to get my $5.00 deposit back from them j**ks! NEVER again will I shop there and I put in a complaint against him!

I paid $24.61 in total at Best Buy because I got the 3 pack plushes. I couldn't resist lol. In all, I didn't mind paying that much. It's like I got free collectors plush out of the deal!

Did anyone have any dirty discs in their combo packs?

I noticed that my disc 1 Blu-ray had what appeared to be scratches on it. When I inspected it a little it was just smudges/finger prints. Most of it cleaned off really easy, but there is still a little bit of it left. I think I'm just going to go back to Target and exchange it. My Alice in Wonderland DVD had some type of glue stuck to the disc earlier this year. Either Disney hates me, or something is happening at the DVD/Blu-ray factories.

The fact alone that TRU was selling this at 34.99 when the other stores are selling it at 24.99 should've been enough to save you the abuse and embarrassment you went through. Even if you had been allowed to combine the two coupons (and got the deposit back) you still would've been paying more than elsewhere. I stopped by there to get my $5 deposit back and took my business over to Best Buy without any hassle.

(I never trust any store to combine coupons on popular items like this anyway. Would've been a different situation if it were say a coupon and a discount.)

^I think that's about what the wallmart I got mine from charged as well. What is up with all these stores?

Actually I might have been wrong about not taking the coupon thing, I'll figure that out tomorrow. (again, I wasn't the one who was there)

I checked some of the posts and didn't see any thing about the Future Shop (Canada) limited Steelbook version.

Okay, I just made my way through All of the bonus material. What Im about to say might come off more negative than I intend, but do know what I love what is there. and this is only about the bonus content, nothing about movie itself.

my gripes are with what was omitted more than anything. and this could be because I'm just spoiled by how great the toy story content has been in the past. but some things I hoped for or expected but were not there were

An effects only soundtrack.
Young andy home video footage without the VHS filter. (kinda like how we got the Buzz commmercial in the first movie)
set flybys and character rotations. this could have been a great way to illustrate the differences in the older character models compared to the new ones.
Hardly anything on Randy Newman. and a general lack of interviews from the rest of the brain trust. I know their probably busy doing their own projects, but I would have liked to have heard more from there perspective about how they set everything in motion for TS3. Laseter was hardly shown at all except in other divisions like the theme park and toys.

Was Joe Rant mentioned at any point? Not that I can recall.

But most of all I would have liked to have seen the cinexplore content viewable by itself. Didn't they do that, or something to that effect with Ratatouille? They also did some cooler things in that they gave you the option to jump out of the movie and watch the film makers do their thing for a bit before heading back to the movie. To me that was a more interesting way to handle it. I prefer an organized way of viewing animations tests and whatnot. having it thrown up on screen during the movie is great, but I don't want that to be my only option.

I know most people will probably never know these are gone, this is really just the geek in me who maybe went into this release with expectations a bit too high, but can you blame me? it was pixar themselves that set the bar so high. They already outdo every other studio in terms of bonus content, and again I absolutlely loved everything that we did get. even when it seemed a bit goofy and irrelevant. I just think they could have been more consistent with the content from the previous two toy stories.

Now, onto some random things I did like, in more detail. cineexplore was great, and the alternate commentary was just as informative as the first. The life of a shot was great, it really shows how much effort from people with all sorts of skill sets come together. (I'm surprised more cameos weren't pointed out like Lasseter likes to do. oh well)

The setting the story in motion thing by Michael Arndt was fantastic, Ive never been a good story writer but seeing this makes me feel like I'd be more prepared if I were to ever put in an effort to try. It illustrated with clear visuals a good template that you could use (potentially) in crafting a great story. Its of course nothing you should apply to all stories, but it does seem to be solid foundation to start from.

Grab bag was the closest thing to new toy story treats we'll get. it'll at least hold us over until the toy story shorts start releasing.

They did a great job with the publicity section, all the trailers (like my favorite, gadgets) was there, even the super rare Japanese poster that has Woody in front instead of buzz. (anyone able to get me a 1080p screenshot of that for me by the way?)


So yeah, that was kind of my rant/review. Again, don't get me wrong, this is a must own, absolutely. I just feel like the extras were a bit thin by their standards. and it aggravates me that would purposely leave out things like the prison doc for i tunes exclusivity. when you pay for the blu ray you deserve the whole package, and this release could have used more content if they already had it ready to go.

Just curious, has anyone gotten the Toy Story Blu-ray Toy Box set with all 3 films yet? I was curious to find out how strong the packaging was
(it looks like Andy's toy chest) and I was wondering if you get more DMR points with this set instead of the standard 125 points?
I guess it's the only way to get the Disney File Digital Copies of TS1 and TS2.

Some Best Buys still have the Iron Pack (it was a preorder item). Not sure how they ring up now that the preorder is over. They were $7.50, but that came off the total when you picked up the combo pack.

So glad I didn't hold off on buying Toy Story 1 and 2 on Blu-ray and waited for a trilogy set. I don't like that packaging at all. I loved the way Pirates of the Caribbean did it, putting all three movies in their regular packaging in a "trilogy" box (although with the fourth movie coming out I may have to take them out of the box and just put them on the shelf regularly )

And I'm also glad I didn't I didn't wait for the trilogy because I like to put my Pixar movies on the shelf in order of release date. So like Toy Story 3 comes after Up, A Bug's Life goes in between the first two Toy Stories, etc.
