Another firmware update is available for the Wii. It fixes some bugs that people have been having. Also there is a update for the Prime 3 preview channel.

I didn't have time to move my Wii today, but I decided to enable WiiConnect24.

What I found odd was the console is more stable with WiiConnect24 on than off. Odd to say the least. While its annoying maybe I overreacted last night/this morning. I'm just going to play the Wii and enjoy it. When the problem becomes a major concern I'll send it in for a refurb and get my stuff transferred over.

After renting Super Paper Mario from Blockbuster the other week and really enjoying it, I ended up buying it today. I think it is a great game, and certainly one worth owning. This will have to hold me over unil Super Mario Galaxy comes out in November. :)

Was a little underwhelmed by the Wii firmware update. From what I understand, it was partly a sneaky way to stop compatibility of some of those programs that allow you to break region coding for Gamecube games. Unfortunately, some people installed without knowing this and if they have already sold their GCs, they are up the proverbial.

The past two updates have disabled a lot of things. Mod Chips, Freeloader, Action Replay (I think...). At least Gamecubes are cheap now, so if you don't have one you can always pick one up to play imports. I don't know if I would call it sneaky, there was a warning message before the update talking about how it might disable mods.

So far the past two updates haven't really provided much, and the latest one was basically bug fixes for the 3.0 update. I do like the new layout of the Wii Shop, and the clock is nice to have on the Wii Menu. At least Nintendo is starting to "fix" things and slowly upgrading the Wii's firmware.

After watching the new Prime 3 videos today I really wished that game had a online mode. The spider ball looks pretty cool.

Is anyone planning to get Super Metroid next week? I'm very tempted to make my first VC purchase. I barely remember the game, and I know I never completely played though it.

Do you really need the classic controller for these games or does the Gamecube controllers work pretty good?

Don't even try the Gamecube controller for SNES games, they usually have you like a crab, the D-Pad is sucky and just don't think about using an analog stick for Super Metroid...just no, I'll get it if it comes here

Thanks. I might just wait until I get a classic controller before I download it.

Is the Gamecube controller good for any of the VC games?

Out of curiosity, has anyone here heard of the upcoming Power Rangers: Super Legends game coming in Nov.? Apparently it spans the entire series, from season 1 to the current season.

It's just the SNES games you shouldn't go near with, the controller's layout isn't good for SNES games while the Classic Controller nearly matches it.

Thanks. I looked at one of my Gamecube controllers and then thought about some games. Stuff like Super Mario World would be impossible with the Gamecube controller.

The new Prime 3 videos are up and they look great. Two more will be available on the 20th. I wished Prime 3 had a online mode, but still the game looks really good so far.

Yeah, it really is awkward, B is jump and Y is run!

Okay I got over my internet problems by joining the modern age and buying a wireless router.

Now I have a new problem.

I bought my first gamecube game. I cant get by the memory slot page. I finally figured out what was Memory Slot A and got in there but as soon as I get to that screen my controller goes from lighting up on player 1 to all four lights flashing to off. I cant get it or any of my ohter controllers back on.

Any ideas?

You can only use GameCube controllers for GameCube games. The Wii Remote will not work.

Sorry should have said that, I have multiple gamecube controllers and I know how to use them - I have downloaded a couple of games but this is the first GameCube game I have used that is an actual disc.

You said something about flashing lights, and I assumed you were trying to use the Wii Remote. As far as I know, GameCube controllers don't have any lights. I have one, and it doesn't.

Anyway, the only other suggestion I can provide is to make sure the controller is plugged in to slot one, which should be indicated on the GameCube section of the Wii with one dot. If that doesn't help, then, I am clueless.

Figured it out. I thought since the classic controller worked for downloaded Gamecube games it would work for bought ones too but it does not.

So can anyone recommend GameCube games that are

1) Roll playing games that are E or E10.

2) Racing Games

Good that you got it figured out.

However, you can't have downloaded any GameCube games. They don't offer GameCube games for download on the Virtual Console, since the Wii is completely backwards compatible with GameCube games and accessories.

You are right I just went and checked and both games are Nintendo 64.

Old question I'm sure has been answered, however I can't find it...

I know you can not transfer VC games to another system, but what about Wii game saves?

Could I backup my Zelda game save to a SD card and use it on my friends Wii? Or is it tied to my Wii console like the VC is?
