When the (lesser) remake hit theatres, I was hoping the R1 re-release would be akin to the R2 set froM Optimum. While I don't mind having the theatrical cut and the nice 36-minute documentary (and 1973 interview), I'd love to see the 99-minute director's cut, hear the commentary, and see the featurette about the commentary, along with the 50-minute cult documentary.

Of course, I'm sure we'll get an R1 version of the R2 release when the remake hits DVD.

Too bad my local wal-mart didn't have "A Chipmunk Christmas: 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition". Now I have to wait till Christmas to get it.

Thank you. I so almost put it back because for some reason I wasn't sure. I got it, watched it again tonight. I had seen it on TV before, many times, but never the entire thing all the way through, only ever 35 minutes at a time each time. So sometimes I'd see the beginning, sometimes the middle, sometimes the end - so I guess it felt confusing. Anyway, it is an amazing movie. Definitely of interest to me after buying Vegas In Space, and being a big fan of the first Austin Powers movie and Absolutely Fabulous, the actress Anita Pallenberg who played The Great Tyrant had a part as The Devil in the 4th Series of Absolutely Fabulous and the background of her scene in that episode (Donkey) looked like the substance they refer to all throughout Barbarella as being pure evil. Something like the Plasmosis or something. Plastmatus? Like Lava Lamp juice, anyway. If you liked Barbarella, I strongly encourage you to check out Vegas in Space.

and a couple of Bjork purchases!:



The first is a collection of her 5 music videos for Medulla (just to complete my collection of 21, making 26), and the second is called Inside Bjork - a documentary about herself and her career! Which I hear covers everything from The Sugarcubes all the way up to Vespertine / Family Tree. I don't know - but I'm expecting A LOT and I know, since it's Bjork, I'll get it.

Sisters (1973) - Criterion Collection (this one was actually remarkably less expensive than most Criterion DVD's. I got it for less than $22.45 (I just don't know how much less, since I ordered it from Amazon themselves and their shipping & handling goes a little haywire after you order more than 1 item from them, they reduce S&H on your 2nd item...). And of course we all know most Criterion DVDs sell for at least $30.

Dust Devil (1992) - 5 Disc Limited Edition Boxset (was less than $23.98 - surprisingly! This set was originally expected to price at $29.99 - I got lucky)

Friday the 13th (1980-1989): From Crystal Lake to Manhattan - I finally decided it was worth getting, at $44.59. Only because I know Paramount will never release those DVDs again.


And I still have more than $41 left. Yippee!

I haven't seen the whole movie yet. But I did see about 30 minutes of it on TV and it blew my mind! I think what I saw was around the middle. I saw the "Acid Queen" musical number, then I saw that part about the Uncle (Uncle... who was it?), and then there was some sort of Funeral for Marilyn Monroe - something like that, it was in a church and they were holding a bunch of photographs of her - I think. And then I saw some stuff at a junkyard somewhere. I can't wait to see the rest of it.

Yes I did get it and liked it quite a bit. It was very smart, interesting, unique, poetic, dramatic, mysterious, and touching. Pretty much everything I was expecting it to be. Both dark and not at all dark at the same time. A little too mysterious in the end (not just the ending, I mean overall) which soured some of the scenes. But I watched it twice to make sure, and the scenes that were touching remained very powerful - well, as powerful as a film like this could be, a film with so much unexplained.



Finally, the spending spree... Is Over. Just spent my last $40:

Fat Actress - Complete 1st Season (but I got a great deal on this, brand new for $9-something!)
