Damn right it is. I watched it again recently, because of all the reviews I'd read since. Many people seemed to think the movie was bad. Or, not great. But it is amazing. Really. Some times I think critics penalize a lesser film because it's not perfect for it daring to be different, darker, mean-spirited, or stranger than most of the mainstream movies that come out. Or the movies with the big, award-nominated name actors.

Anyway, I'm a little consoled by the fact that they mentioned Death Becomes Her on both Inside the Actors Studio, and that American Cinemateque Tribute (the one Jim Carrey hosted- I think Jim Carrey hosted, either that or he intro'ed) to Meryl Streep.

And Universal freaking owes Region 1 a better DVD. At least widescreen. God, Universal sucks. I don't know who's worse- them or Sony / Columbia-TriStar.

I watched the episodes that have commentaries on my NewsRadio Seasons 1 and 2 and Season 3 DVDs. I'm just itching to get my hands on Seasons 4 and 5 to hear those commentaries!

Unfortunately, only 2 of these featurettes were about the movie, except for the "Diagnosing" one. But, featurettes: "Misery Loves Company," "Diagnosing Annie Wilkes," "Advice for the Stalked," "Profile of a Stalker," "Celebrity Stalkers," "Anti-Stalking Laws."

the "Jonathan Demme & Jodie Foster" featurette / documentary. And for only 2 people talking... this is one hell of a featurette!! Completely worth getting this 2-disc DVD for these 3 featurettes alone! Some of the stories they tell were already mentioned in the "Labyrinth" documentary on the old MGM Special Edition, but they tell them differently. Anyway, I was still riveted through the entire thing. And the "Scoring the Silence" featurette.

<img src="http://www.dvdspot.com/covers/6/1620567122.jpg" width="100" height="144" border="0">
featurettes: "The House That Freddy Built: The Legacy of New Line Horror" and "Never Sleep Again: The Making of a Nightmare on Elm Street." Plus, the "Freddy's Coming for You" trivia challenge. I got all the questions right, even the one I didn't know from re-watching the movie 2 weeks ago.

<img src="http://www.dvdspot.com/covers/5/1528338985.jpg" width="100" height="144" border="0">
featurettes: "Mr. Cotton, I Presume? : Andrew Robinson," " Actress From Hell: Ashley Laurence," "Hellcomposer: Christopher Young," "Under the Skin: Doug Bradley." Plus, the "U.S. G-rated Trailer" and TV Spot #1.

Image
featurettes: "View From the Overlook: Crafting the Shining," "The Making of the Shining" (with and without the Vivian Kubrick commentary), "The Visions of Stanley Kubrick," and "Wendy Carlos, Composer."

I really liked the few bonus features we got on this DVD. They were a lot more substancial and satisfying than the 2 dinky featurettes on The Screwfly Solution (which the only good one was the 4-minute Visual Effects bit anyway) featurettes. "Skin and Bones: The Making of Family" and "Terror Tracks: Mastering the Family Score." I also listened to the audio commentary with writer Brent Hanley. And I really liked it, considering that Frailty sucked, he's a very interesting guy.
