I think its the nose. It looks way too small here and lips are kinda too bright (Orange red) (compared to the other promo images) she kinda looks like Rapunzel here idk. But idc there is always gonna be this one unhinged weird promo image for the princesses and at the end they look normal again

They probably made tweaks to appeal to a Japanese audience just for the poster. They did the same thing with certain video games, Crash Bandicoot for example. Completely different design for the boxart there.

She looks really off-model, like she's a doll instead of a character. The 3/4 angle of her face makes the anatomy look weird. It would have looked better if she was on profile.
Exactly!

I was about to say that.

I am glad I’m not the only one who thought she looked off-model…
Don`t worry, no need to think that

They could have introduced other creatures or monsters instead of recreating the same scene from the original. The Kakamora scene was my least favorite scene because it was just filler.

I have the feeling that they are trying to make them a best seller characters. They want something like Minions in my opinion and to be honest nobody remember them…

Agreed. But my dislike for them was not only because they were filler, but because they were annoying. Fortunately they were in only one scene, but they were still juvenile and insipid. As for the TV spot, the animation looks great. But the whole vibe of the scene seems Deja Vu. It seems like it`s going to retread it`s predecessor too much.

Well, there is that one creature in the trailer we keep seeing who looks like an island with eyeballs.
So that’s one new creature being introduced.

Heard from the tour guide when I was on The Walt Disney Studios Tour on Monday that Moana 2 will indeed be released in IMAX.
Though with Interstellar’s 10th Anniversary re-release now coming out the week after Moana 2 comes out, it seems Moana 2 will only have IMAX screens for 9 days.

Hi everyone!

Sorry for having being absent from the forum for so long and not even explaining why. I've just been very busy. I haven't read most of what has been posted the last months or even kept up much with Disney news in general, which is very strange for me. I didn't even remember there was going to be a D23 Expo this year until a few days ago. I've missed discussing about Disney with you all. Unfortunately, I won't be able to post as much or as frequently as before, but right now I can.
I did read some of the
Moana 2 story details from Annecy that were posted here and I have to say the film sounds promising to me. However, the fact that it was originally going to be a Disney+ series makes me worried it may not have the quality or scope of a theatrical movie. The designs of some of the new characters, for example, are a bit bland in my opinion. And of course, I wish John Musker and Ron Clements had been involved in some capacity and Lin-Manuel Miranda had returned to do the music. It'll be strange that
Mufasa: The Lion King, which will be released around the same time, will have music by him and not this film, though at least some of the musical team will be back. Anyway, I hope the film is good. I'm not super exited for it yet, but I am looking forward to it and maybe the new details from D23 will make me more interested in it.
Here's a
Moana 2 photo op display and a lithograph from D23:

Good to know they performed one of the new songs. I was getting suspicious that they are hiding the music. But that song also sounds on par with the music from the old DTV sequels. At best, serviceable.
Side note, but loving seeing Auliʻi here. Remember when she was an unknown teenager? I love seeing an actress embrace the mantle of their Disney Princess character— it really is a big deal, and I think she’s done a good job with it. I’ve enjoyed watching her career flourish post-Moana, as well.

It looks like such a retread to be honest. Nothing stands out. That one piece of concept art for Frozen 3 was more refreshing than anything I’ve seen for Moana 2.
The song was uninspiring as well. Auli’i sounded amazing though as always. She’s such a joy to watch.

Well, to give my thoughts: I like the display and the new poster. However, as for the new song, it was cute enough, but not paritcularly outstanding or brilliant. But it still seemed to belong in the same universe as the songs from it`s predecessor. Auli`i delivered a great performance on stage and had such a glow to her. As for the trailer, I liked it. I liked the beginning with the running, the part with the lightning inside the hut, Moana giving her high-five to the ocean and the ending where Moana fainting out (which was funny). But I wonder which part Simea is going to play. Is she going to play an important part of the story or is she just going to be practically useless?

I laughed at the "Little sis!" "Big sis!" part. On the nose exposition to explain these characters' relationship.
A lot of it feels like repeats of the first film - ex: the Kakamora scene.
But some also feels like Frozen II? I'll try thinking about why I felt that, maybe circle back later.

Maybe something feels like Frozen II because they talk about an island stuck in a storm or something like that? It did remind me of Frozen II.
