But they're clearly hiding the movie itself, specially Nani actress
If they want to hide her, how come they won't show Lilo instead?

Mermaid has already ran its course, snow white would be more likely since they can cross promote current releases.

Yes that's weird that they aren't showing Lilo, they casted a proper native hawaiian child actress so nobody has a problem with her

I think they will hide the human actors until the last moment, like we will not see a real trailer until April (one month before)

Detective Pikachu mostly did that too, by showing Pikachu and barely showing the human side characters

Don't worry, guys. They did the same with The Little Mermaid. I'm sure that a full trailer will be released in February or March, and they will show us all the characters in it.

I wonder if they're worried about the CGI for alien characters like Jumba and Pleakley since Disney live-action films usually have really awful CGI. Or do you think Disney is afraid of casting Pleakley because Pleakley represents trans representation? I feel they might scrap those two characters based on the amount of CGI and outrage by conservatives.

Stitch looks in line with the bad CGI of the Dwarfs and animals in TLM and TLK, so a poster of him with those characters would be the logical choice.

Stitch CGI is great but maybe the other aliens look bad I don't know

You're right, there will be some kind of controversy because they casted a cishet actor for Pleakley and she's a openly queer character that uses she/her pronouns most of the time

Stitch is furry and doglike so it's easy to make him cute. Jumba and Pleakley aren't supposed to be cute and Pleakley always had an almost slime-like skin texture. Jumba with all those eyes might also look creepy like a spider.

Honest question but does Pleakley use she/her pronouns? I remember Pleakley using he/him pronouns. I assumed Pleakley's gender was undefined and Pleakley straddled both worlds or identified as a male alien but human woman. And I think I know some trans people who don't always adjust pronouns so Pleakley may have been like that. But maybe it's also just that Pleakley's character was too far ahead for the time and Disney didn't know how to address the character properly back then. I'm interested in seeing how they'll do it in 2025 but they're too afraid of LGBT controversies for me to expect much.

They're not hiding it because of Jumba and Pleakley, you really think the public is That invested in these characters?
They are all about nani and lilo, after stitch of course.

In the spanish dub from the TV show and sequel movies Pleakley uses feminine pronouns all the time and since she's all the time dressed feminine by choice it's safe to say she's a trans woman if she was human

So it's weird that in 2023 (when the movie was made) they didn't casted a trans actress, MJ Rodriguez would have been a good choice

Or a feminine cis gay man like Billy Porter (I used two respected actors with awards because it's easier than fancasting random unknown actors)

That's very interesting. I had no idea Pleakley was using female pronouns in the Spanish dub. I watch the English one so that's not the case there. I wonder if the Spanish dub is a new one or if they've been using female pronouns for Pleakley ever since the movie came out in Spain. I'm also wondering if the Mexican and other Spanish dubs from South America call Pleakley feminine as well.

Please no Billy Porter. He's very problematic and frankly a sellout to his communities. That man needs to go away and leave the public alone for good!

Billy Porter is phenomenal, but he's not anything like Pleakley to me.... Pleakley was a nerdy character.

I don't want to get too political in a non-related thread so I'll just say that he's very problematic in terms of his race and sexuality. I follow the gay channels and Black Twitter and they both have very negative impressions of him, even more if you look at Black Gay Twitter who find him offensive in every way. Then there was that incident where he was kissing the hand of Joe Biden during I think Juneteenth or the fourth of July. One of your American holidays. I can't repeat the language used here but I remember on Black Twitter, they were using a word they use for black sellouts which I don't think non-black people can use. Basically Uncle Tom but more racial. There's also backlash to him playing James Baldwin since ideologically they're complete opposites but I can't get into that because it's too political as well.

Regardless, I don't think he's a good person and he comes across as a fraud to me the more you learn about his personal history. And the way he's trying to impose his vision of James Baldwin, who was an icon in the literary and Black communities, by going against what Baldwin himself believed in. If you Google "James Baldwin Billy Porter," you'll see lots of articles and videos explaining why this casting is problematic, especially when Porter lashed out at critics and tried to discount Baldwin's views.

I recall Billy Porter was great in AHS: Apocalypse. Hopefully he'll be cast as an original WDAS character one of these days.

Didn't knew any of this

Still most actors have something to be "cancelled" so it's impossible to cast a non-problematic actor, he's still a talented black queer man so he will eventually get casted in something from Disney

Does The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder not count? He was cast in the show as one of the two gay dads.

Every time I see the teaser, the CGI just looks terrible. After all these remakes, you'd think they'd have gotten better at the CGI animals, but nope.

Q: Then we have this live-action film. How is that? How does that look?

Chris Sanders: I have yet to see it all done. In this case, I really am just the voice. I go in, I do my voice, I see bits and pieces, but I have yet to see the final assembly. So, I am as excited as anybody to see the result.
