So they can rerelease these but no Fantasia or The Jungle Book? What is going on?

I think this is the cutest doll I've seen from Hasbro when it comes to Disney. I might get her.

If I didn't already own all three films on Blu-ray, then I'd have actually got that Featured Title for the cookie cutter. Oh, well. I guess they're expecting Ariel to do the heavy lifting here.

Yeah, the cookie cutter looks cute, but I already own all of those films on their own, and I don't usually care for hybrid releases of unrelated films like this anyway.

Wow, Ariel has even more than Elsa.

I think it'll be a very long time before a new princess cracks the top 3 of Ariel, Elsa, and Cinderella.
That list generally seems to give credence to the possibility that, as you said in another thread, the PoC princesses tend to trend towards the bottom, unfortunately. Tiana is farther up the list than I'd expect though.

I would've thought Moana and Pocahontas would have more merchandise than her. Of course I know this list isn't a list of sales so much as how Disney sees the characters' individual merchandising potential. I hope Tiana will end up rising up this list some more thanks to Splash Mountain and the Disney+ series in the coming years. Which made me think that I really hope the Disney+ series will have some musical numbers spread across episodes and we'll get more ANR performances.
With Merida so low, I hope they remove her eventually. There are too many princesses in the line anyway, and she's PIXAR as it is (and clearly not that popular). She's the easiest one to push out. Raya looks like she has a similar warrior vibe as Merida anyway. Moana and moreso Mulan have that same vibe, but I think Raya will stand apart from them. Although I can enjoy films without music, a part of me will be sad Raya won't really have a theme like other princesses.

They'll never officially remove her. There would be too much backlash. They'll just make less DP products featuring her.

Me too. Hopefully, the end credit song can double as a theme for her.

It's true, there would probably be some backlash. But it's not like they haven't moved characters in and out of the line before. I think Alice, Tinker Bell, Megara, Jane Porter, and Esmeralda were all prominent and then pushed out. Only lately do they seem to be including Meg and Esmeralda again for some reason (not that I'm complaining). I guess it may partly be in preparation to capitalize off the
Hunchback and
Hercules re-makes--laughable really, in the case of the latter, considering it's not going to be anything like the original in order to promote the original film the way re-makes usually do. Still,
Hercules seems to be getting more attention in merchandise in general lately. I wonder if the same is true for
Hunchback?
As far as Raya's theme, I hope I like whatever the song is. I hope they pick someone like P!nk. She'd fit the vibe of Raya that I see so far, but Disney will probably want someone "younger" and more "current" (

). Maybe someone like Dua Lipa?

Surprised to see Esmeralda and Megara on the list. Considering that they were removed from the franchise long ago, I thought their merchandise and popularity was now irrelevant.

Just a clarification: Megara and Esmeralda are not part of the DP franchise (and neither are Elsa and Anna). I simply included them for comparison's sake.
Here's the number of products some other female characters have.
Tinker Bell: 45 products
Mary Poppins - 27 products
Lilo: 23 products
Alice: 22 products
Sally: 11 products
Vanellope von Schweetz: 10 products
Wendy: 8 products
Elena of Avalor: 5 products

Sorry for drawing that comparison. I did it for seeing Esmeralda and Meg on the list. But let`s face it: Before the Princess franchise became an official thing, most Disney heroines were superficially claimed to be Princesses. For the sake of how the term Princess representing the archetype of a heroine. Despite how it doesn`t mean the litteral Princess.

Oh, okay. I thought maybe they were being included in niche aspects of the line, like those dolls that they received recently (the ones with new dresses for the characters).

I like her father's design. He looks appealing and dignified and fits well with the rest of the characters. By the way, how come there isn't an English version of that book available? It's weird they'd release it overseas, but not domestically.

I find it very weird too, but the same is happening with the new Comfy Squad books. I already have the first one and the second one is coming next month in Spain, while in the USA they don't come out until May!

I must admit that Moana is my favorite. She looks very cute but I still think that she shouldn't be part of the princess line.
You can't have the best of both worlds. In her film, she clearly states that she's not a princess. The joke (and the one that follows) seem to imply that the idea of a Disney princess is beneath her. Now, maybe the character of Moana herself doesn't mean it that way but the subtext is still there and it's clearly an inside joke between the audience and the filmmakers. Actually, there are three jokes concerning the Disney princesses in that film and that's fine I guess but in that case, she has no business being in this line nor in Ralph Breaks The Internet.

I don't think any of the people involved in Moana cares if she's in the franchise or not, it's all insignificant to them. But okay, I don't think this joke in Moana was any different than most of the things they did in Frozen or Brave with their whole anti "Disney princess antics" attitude (just more literal), or Tiana's no-nonsense attitude. As for "marketing" (because that's the whole Disney Princess thing is about), Moana's or the Revival princesses "not like any other princess" marketing is not really different than the 90's "active princess" (even though Ariel and even Belle lack any arc in their respective films).
